Enakai was walking along the edge of the swamp lands she shared with her mate. With him doing goodness knew only what, she was walking the lands and watching over them. If he'd ask her, she'd likely say she was scouting for some new trinkets and baubles to add to her collection. She'd been feeling restless as of late. The knowledge that they'd been failing in their attempts to have foals was weighing heavily on her mind as of late. This scouting of the boarders was enough to give her some space.. help her work out the things that were bothering her.

October walked silently through the border of the forest and a large field of nothing but open land. She kept her ears moving, ever searching for that elusive sound that could mean trouble. She looked out across the large expanse of the field and contemplated a small run. Perhaps later she could convince Oberon to come with her.
It had been a year since a failed breeding, and she was wondering if they would have another chance. They both plunged into work for their two horse family, each monitoring the part of the forest they called home for signs of Skinwalkers or other mean soquili. The forest may seem peaceful, but it could hide many dangers that the two-legged might not sense.
She twitched her ears again when she rounded a corner in the forest path she had been taking, and saw a most unusual soquili… Perhaps this was a Kelpi? If so, would it be the kind to eat her? October liked to keep off the known path when others were near, she liked to watch rather than interact. When introductions were obligatory, to other soquili or two-leggers, she kept most of what she was thinking to herself, just in case the other was planning to do something.
October slipped into the forest silently, and watched the strange new soquili. Right now, she would rather err on the side of caution and was waiting for the other to make some sort of move to show whether or not they were friendly or evil.

Her thoughts still occupied, she missed the tiny mare and how far from her swamp she'd drifted. That was, until her skin had started to dry out and itch. Looking up, she searched for a body of water, a lake, pond.. anything to take a dip in to ease the confounded itch.. even freezing water was better than this itch. Lifting a hind hoof, she scratched at the back of her front leg before her tail flicked behind her. "Curse this dry skin" She grumbled aloud as she walked closer in the direction of the little mare she hadn't caught sight of just yet.

October watched the mare move forward and noticed how much like the Earth she looked. She had the blue of the water, and the green of the land that seemed to float upon it. She wondered if those were the colors of the underwater world that she could only speculate about since she could only paddle in shallow water herself.
She had found a shallow pond not far from the home she and Oberon shared. It had clear water flowing into it and a deeper spot on one end. She tilted her head a bit and thought that it might be just deep enough to cover the Kelpi’s back.
As the unknown soquili approached her, looking preoccupied with her thoughts no doubt, October noticed she seemed to have a problem with her front foot. She moved her body forward and saw the problem.
October chuckled softly to herself as she saw the mare scratch herself. Perhaps it was the dried out look, or she knew the feeling of needing a little bath, but it was more than she could bear. She could not help but feel this fish was somewhat out of water, and if she meant to eat October, so be it. October could always outrun her. She knew the area very well.
October stepped in front of the Kelpi mare and said, “Do you need some help?” she moved more in front of the unknown soquili and saw her that she had pretty skin… tiny little glimmering scales on her, something October would have never had guessed a soquili would have. October smiled a little and said, “I am October and I live in this wood. If you seek your way through here, then I will be glad to help you.”
