History:
She was born as the daughter of a brown rider and A blacksmith and given up very quickly with the hopes of her becoming a rider herself. She knows her parents and has seen them but has little to do with anyone outside of herself her Candidate masters and other candidates. She's brilliant and has proven herself on several occasions to be more than capable of understanding concepts far beyond her short life.
She has problems with children her own age and even slightly older than her. She prefers the company of academics mostly, Healers and the like. She rarely gets along with children her own age and hardly ever plays games unless it's for a good reason. To her there's so much more to learn and try to accomplish than a game allows and the children found her... Odd for that to say the least. .
When she was being taught with the other children she devoured her lessons. So much so that she wasn't happy with the small amount of subjects she covered. sneaking books or out to find people who could teach her more because a normalcy for her. She caught subjects so quickly that if they spent more than one day on one she would become immensely bored and unresponsive. She isn't quite happy with the fact that she has so much pressure on her to become a rider. She loves the idea of flying and would LOVE a dragon. However she feels that the only reason she is valued is because of her potential. She doesn't feel that they see any more to her than a valuable candidate and if she fails she won't be useful anymore. So she has a short time to recieve a dragon to her. Especially when her mother has her heart set on her daughter becoming a rider and the few times her daughter has come in contact with her has made that clear.

Aya wonders about what's outside the Weyr but spends so much time vying for attention and trying to learn what it would take to make her a good rider that she rarely gets to see anything unusual. She did once get lost outside of the hold and that left a profound impression on her.

The things that happened politically she also formed an opinon on (Even as young as she is) She believes strongly in the thought that Color should dictate your place and has a profound disagreement with changing the old ways (you could say she's old at heart)

Physical Description: Slight with reddish hair Aya looks very little like either of her parents. Her looks stem from her Great Great grandmothers line which was all of woman who were short and thin. She isn't very strong but is quick.

Personality: Brilliance is Aya's main strength, she has a quick wit and a quick mind however It makes her as a person difficult to follow when your talking to her because she jumps from one thought to the next fluidly usually with no warning. It also makes her very judgemental when you aren't thinking the same thing as her she assumes from the standpoint that everyone should think logically which in most cases is not true. She can be very forgiving when it comes to someone she respects and she's curious to a fault even attempting to climb into caves she shouldn't or drop down into a pit to find something that she figures should be there (Aka a nest or a person she wishes to find) . She is by nature a loving person but will run you down to get something that she's set on (She's very determined which is Good and Bad in it's own right she will work her hardest to get something and won't quit but she also WON"T QUIT unless forced by a higher authority).
Mostly her determination comes out when she's trying to Prove a point or when she's trying to defend someone else.
Within her years at the Weyr she has been found to have a rather authoritative personality to children younger than her and others even her age, if it comes to a drastic situation she'll determine the best course of action and walk her fellows through it in order to get them all out. HOWEVER she usually will not react unless the situation is dire, there is noone else (Such as a Teacher/Rider) or she is given express permission to do so (whereas they are in a group and she is named as leader of the excercise)

*She does not have many friends (Correctly due to her over judging people and her curiosity with the outside world.) Her Authoritative nature means that even when she doesn't mean to be demanding she appears to be. Which is an issue for many children who wish for a FRIEND not a psudo mini adult.
She doesn't persay regret not having many friends but being lonely leads her to be even more engrossed in trying to learn as much as she can to be a good rider.

Though she doesn't show it she usually has the best interests of the people she meets at heart. She tries to make sure everyone is where they should be and does everything they should to get there.

When she attempts to take charge and the rest aren't listening to her She can show a bit of her true nature. She Will go up to another student and back them into a wall or corner to make them understand her place. She feels that if everyones in danger or she has been put in charge for a reason there should be NO doubts about what they need to do. Because she feels if she's doubted than she isn't doing her job.

She has a good respect for certain sects of authority. The weyrwoman and for one and teachers or anyone who teaches her. (The crimson wingleader in that case gets higher value than the bronzes ect.) Older students ect she tends to ignore. She has high respect for queen riders however but JR. Golds personalities she looks for. She doesn't respect them if they are too loose or don't respect others around them. bronze riders she would doubt if it was a choice. (women hold higher respect for her) She aims to be a rider. She dreams of becoming a Queen rider.

People in danger make her angry and she's afraid someday that she will do something that will put someone in danger and she won't be able to help them.

When afraid she quiets down and goes into the back of her head you could say to think of a solution.

Name: People on Pern don't have a last name, so she would just be Aranel, but the nickname is fine!

History: This is fine, but I would like a little more detail/clarification please! =D

- Growing up in the Weyr creche (as I think you're saying she did!) is perfectly normal for a Weyr kid so that's fine! Could you tell me how she got on with the other children growing up though? Did she find it hard to get on with people he own age, preferring slightly older company?

- How has she proven her brilliance? Was she a quick study at lessons for example? All Weyr kids are taught by a Harper who will give them a basic education, but a lot don't study further than this as they hope to become riders and won't need it.

- Does she want to be a rider? She's unhappy with the pressure on her, is this because she's worried about failing or just because she doesn't want to do it?

- When did she become an apprentice, and in what craft? It's pretty unusual for a Weyr kid to do as most will just stand as Candidates hoping to be a rider one day. If she is an apprentice she can't also be a candidate, there just isn't time to keep up with the work! She can certainly have an interest in a craft and hang around helping out but she couldn't be actively studying if she is a candidate.

- There have recently been some major world events recently, how does she feel about them? Two and a half years ago Malvren Weyr and Benden Weyr were overthrown by a group of 'wherholders', led by wherhandlers who were tired of riders ruling everything and joined by riders who were tired of the colour of your dragon deciding your place in life. They also attacked Trine Weyr but Trine managed to survive. About eight months ago there were renewed hostilities with the wherholders attacking one of Trine's firestone mines and Trine poisoning food in Malvren. << If you want more detail on this stuff I can provide it!

- How did/how will she end up at Euclid? I am guessing the Weyr she was born in was Trine - will her mother transfer for example and take her along?


Personality: I'm going to ask for a bit more detail here, simply because we match dragons to candidates based on personality so the more we know the better her chances are!

- Does Aya have many friends? It sounds like she might be the sort that doesn't, as her intelligence and the fact that she'd judgemental to those who are less so would make her tough to get on with.

- If she doesn't have many friends does she regret it? Does she wish she got on with people more, or that there were more people like her to get on with?

- How does her loving nature manifest? Is she the sort who has others best interest at heart even if she doesn't come off as a friendly person?

- What sort of things does she tend to get very set on? Moral things? Correcting people when they're wrong?

- How does she react if, when she's trying to take charge of her peers, people will not listen or somebody else challenges her for authority of the group?

- It sounds like she has a good respect for authority, is this the case?

- What sort of thing does she enjoy doing? Learning? Having new experiences? Conversation with other smart people?

- What aims, hopes and dreams does she have in life?

- What makes her angry? What's she afraid of, and how does she deal with fear?

- What's her opinion on the wherholders? What does she think of Euclid - like the wherholders they promote the idea of colour equality, but unlike the wherholders they have no interest in violence - is she happy about the idea of moving there?

Ah! No problem!

- Her rank would just be candidate in that case, there aren't any sub ranks within that.

- Given her views, Trine Weyr will be her best fit. At Malvren and Benden Weyrholds it's Master wherhandler Keller who is now the ruler, and in Euclid (which is only just being created) they believe in colour equality so I don't think she would want to move there.

- The only other point I can see to tweak is that Trine doesn't have a Holdmaster. The VIPs are: Weyrwoman, Weyrleader (military leader, usually a bronze rider), Headwoman (unbonded person who works with/for the weyrwoman), the junior golds, and the wingleaders. All but one of Trine's wingleaders are bronzes, one of them is a crimson rider (also the only female wingleader).
