Hobbies: Singing/Songwriting - Ever since Kaida was a little girl, she's loved to sing. The genre doesn't matter...if she likes a song, she'll sing it at some point. She loves karaoke, and occasionally comes up with her own little ditties, and is learning how to better write full songs. Her Grand-père Courcel recognized her talent early on, and has paid for her to take voice and singing lessons since she was in first grade, and now she's on her way to being a professional singer. She hopes. As it is, she sometimes combines her singing with her burlesque shows.
Burlesque - What started out as a passing interest when she was in high school has become not only a hobby, but a way of earning her own money. Originally something discovered through sheer boredom while sick in 11th grade and browsing Wikipedia, Kaida found herself more and more interested in the more performance-oriented striptease. And when she was 18 (and a half), she found herself in an amateur night at the local burlesque club with prodding from her closest female cousin, Aceline. Since then...well, she's found herself
very fond of the performance medium, and draws inspiration from icons such as Dita von Teese, Dirty Martini, and Charlotte Treuse. Her shows tend to pull from varying musical areas (from jazz to rock to pop and beyond), and she tends to be more of a...'classy dame' in outfits...at least at the start. She works at a burlesque club in the area.
Parkour - Kaida has been doing parkour since she was in the 8th grade, introduced to it by a classmate at the time. It took her a bit to get into the hang of, but she does it at least 3 times a week now, and tends to use it a bit in getting around on foot. She especially loves when she vaults over stuff or leaps across gaps; to her, it feels like she's flying. She also loves games of tag using parkour...it's about as seriously 'competitive' as Kaida generally gets.
Anime - Kaida loves anime. She doesn't care about the stereotype of her being part Japanese, because she LIKES her Japanese cartoons! They're engaging and beautifully drawn. And she has a special place in her heart for Magical Girl anime. She's especially fond of 'Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha' and 'Cardcaptor Sakura'. And she might have a dorky love for the Gundam franchise and 'Star Driver'. She was introduced to anime during visits to her family in Kyoto, and then more actively when anime started popping up on television in the States.
Video Games - At least a couple of times a week, she and her roommates sit down and tag team a video game for a few hours. And they try and have a video game marathon at least once every few months. They tend to prefer things like RPGs, strategy games, fighters, and platformers. As for how she got into video games? You can blame her brother-from-another-mother Matt for that. He introduced her when they were still in early elementary school with Ocarina of Time.
Virtues: Can’t we all just get along? - Kaida, though an introvert by nature, is also a generally sweet person. When around others, she's generally smiling, friendly, and personable, not turning down 'hello' or a nod of acknowledgement. If engaged in conversation, she's usually happy to chatter back, and if someone looks honestly lonely, she'll at least attempt a greeting. If she's told to go away, however, she will. She's very respectful of people's boundaries and limits, and of their beliefs. If there's a topic that should be avoided for some reason, just let her know and she'll do her best! She's also very polite to others, especially if she doesn't know them. She was raised to remember her 'please' and 'thank you's!
Just accept it for the way it is (+) - Kaida is, by nature, a submissive person. She would much rather go with the flow, follow, and not deal with confrontation. Don't ever think that makes her a weak person, however. Like a willow tree, she bends but doesn't break, and stands firm in her beliefs and the loyalty she has to certain people. But her submissive nature also allows her to just go with the flow most of the time, letting life take her where it will, and letting things like insults and rumors just roll off of her. Usually. There ARE a few exceptions, of course, especially when it deals her family and friends. When she DOES dig her heels in and stands firm, it tends to be for the things she feels most strongly about; her family, her close friends, and her sense of 'right' and 'wrong'. Hell, she's even stood up for people she doesn't get along with a few times because what the antagonists were saying went against her sense of ethics.
You're ******** perfect to me - Although a sweet person, Kaida doesn't let others in easily. When she does? Her loyalty is very hard to shake. To those who have her devotion, she's not just amiable...she's downright affectionate,
very sweet, and for them, she'll dig her heels in and go against her normally submissive nature if needed. She'll stand up for them, and support them through whatever they're going through, because she knows they'd do the same for her (right?). Though she isn't likely to start a fist fight, she has no issues getting vocal, getting an authority figure, or perhaps stepping into a fight (self-defense classes, they're useful) on behalf of those she cares for. She's yet to encounter a situation where her ethics conflict with her loyalties, so it's uncertain how she might react in that case...
I'll dress nice, I'll look good, I'll go dancing alone - Thanks to her burlesque and some counseling after a bad relationship went south, Kaida's gone from a girl with little self-worth to a young woman comfortable in her own skin and confident in the road life is leading her. Coupled with her submissive and flexible nature, she doesn't let insults get her for the most part, and rumors are just that...
rumors. She has no issues wearing the clothes she wants, figure-showing or baggy, and is happy with the person she is and doing the things she enjoys. And this in turn makes dealing with people easier for her, since she rarely worries about what others think of her.
Flaws: I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest - Though amiable, Kaida isn't one to share her life story, or to make big shows of emotion with most people in most situations. She keeps most of her personal life to herself, and rarely starts the conversation unless she's close to someone or it seems appropriate to
her. She was the oldest child in a family with old money, and it's still very hard for her to get past her upbringing that says large displays of emotion, positive or negative, are always over-the-top.
Just accept it for the way it is (-) - Kaida's submissive and flexible nature
does have drawbacks. As she would much rather follow than lead, she tends to falter if thrust into a leadership position. And though she's strong in her loyalties and ethics...she does generally go with the flow. And though this may be a good thing sometimes, this can also turn out badly. Sometimes, people may take advantage of her good nature with her none the wiser until it's too late, and other times her silence on a rumor is more harmful than helpful. She also tends to avoid confrontation most of the time, and though this gives her the 'element of surprise' when she DOES dig her heels in...it also tends to be detrimental. Like when she's trying to speak up and keeps getting spoken over. Because not only does this keep her from being heard, it fuels a temper that is nasty when let loose.
Funny how the heart can be deceiving - Kaida's loyalty can bite her in the a** sometimes, though she tends to just...wave it off. After all, they didn't mean to do that, right? She can be taken advantage of by those she cares for, intentionally or not, and she tends to be none the wiser. She views those she cares for most through rose-tinted glasses, and to her...they can do (little) wrong. Them being an a*****e turns into them just having had a bad day, and she can't often bring herself to be mad at someone she cares for, not for long. It's something she and her therapist are still trying to work on. They haven't made a lot of progress just yet.
We've had our fill, we've had enough, we've had it up to here - Underneath her calm exterior and at the end of a long fuse is a very destructive temper. While she can normally keep it in check and vent it through parkour or other physical activities (something she's done for years and had further encouraged by her therapist), sometimes the wrong buttons are pushed (usually involving her family, her friends, or children) and she lashes out. Generally, Kaida lashing out is a verbal attack, all sharp-edged words, large gestures, and things she might regret saying if the person is someone close or in an authority position. But push too far, too often? And the lashing out might just turn physical with a slap or punch.

Eyes: PALE blue, near white, take after her Japanese heritage in shape but are a bit larger.

Face: Kaida's face is very similar to
this in shape. Her skin is darker due to a lot of time spent outside and a tendency to tan easily, similar to the skin tone in
