User Image It was early morning and the icy colored mare trod slowly and quietly through the snowy landscape. She was new to the area and had found a nice quiet place near the base of the mountains to call home and was now in the process of seeing what and who was around. Her ears flicked slightly as long legs carried her through the snow covered field and she tossed her hair behind her head as she looked around the area. Her companion Aura was somewhere around the area, probably scouting out any local wolf packs. She didn’t blame her. She was on a search herself for other equines to befriend.

She wondered if Aura would be gone long, she got a little nervous when she was away for long periods of time. Not that she couldn’t get by without her, but because she feared for the lupines safety at times. They were such small creatures and she was also aware that skin walkers might love to get their hands on her. She’d fight to the death before she allowed such a monstrosity near her companion. She stomped the ground with the thought then shook her head clearing it of such disgusting thoughts. Time to worry about other things.

She lowered her muzzle to the snow and lipped it playfully and then looked up and nickered softly into the wind. Perhaps there was another around the area? She kicked some snow up behind her and trotted across the meadow flinging up more snow as she went. Her wings billowed around her as flapped them creating a small vortex of snow and she nickered as she pranced forward, in a proud sort of way. Her wings folded close to her lithe frame and frozen eyes searched the area. She whinnied and stopped with her antics and looked around hoping someone might show their hide.

User ImageCandy was happily walking along in the snow, trying to avoid the parts of snow that might cave in if she stepped on it. Though it wasn't likely she would since she was small and light. But she still would try to avoid it if she could...... She was small, and getting stuck in a snow sink hole was not her idea of fun.

She liked the snow, it was pretty when it fell, and it was fun to play in with her friends. Though it did have a tendency to leave her cold, but then she would go and search out the two-leggers that she went to for help, and stand next to the fire as they dried her off and fed her warmed apples that they would cook on the fire. Personally she never traveled this far out into the forest, but the snow was just so pretty today!

She picked her way carefully to the edge of a a meadow and smiled at how the light played on the crystals of the snow; she touched her noes to it, and felt it tickle it. The snow was so nice.... Perhaps a roll in the snow was in order?

The thought of that made her smile and she ran and jumped into the snow, messing with it's pristine cover over the land, and sending clumps of it scattering every direction. She rolled from side to side, and wiggled this way and that... Oh nothing felt better than a roll in the snow!

As she began to walk around a little bit more a flash of orange caught her eye and she came to a halt, ears alert and body still. She stared straight ahead to see what it was she was actually seeing and she realized it was an Usdia and she was a very lovely orange color that stuck out like a sore thumb. Amadahy had the luxury of blending into the scenery much better with her icy coloring, though she could stand out in a crowd. She flicked her ears as she realized there was no threat and her tail swept across the ground as she trotted forth towards the small equine.

As she came within distance of speaking she watched as the miniature rolled in the snow, kicking her legs all crazy like and she couldn't help but chuckle to herself at these antics. She cleared her throat and gave a small whinny towards the female and she perked her ears attentively. "Greetings." Her voice was soft and warm as she took a few steps closer to the mare. Her flowing tail grazed her hocks and her icy eyes blinked as she dipped her head a little bit before continuing. "My name is Amadahy. Are you from around here?" She didn't want to be imposing on someone else's turf.

Not that she would have an issue if there was a disagreement to come of It. She was non-violent by nature but could pack a kick if need be. Behind that calm and sincere persona was a fighter that only came out when need be. Which was extremely rare. She smiled warmly towards the mare and waited patiently for her to respond.

Candy stopped rolling about and quickly got to her feet when she heard the greeting whinny and following salutations.

She hadn't noticed that another horse was in the area, but then again, when she was hell bent on having some fun she rarely noticed anything. She shook off the snow that was covering her and she smiled brightly up at the tall winged horse. She was a very pretty teal blue with matching Flutter wings. Was she one of the Flutters who could get really tiny?! She longed to ask, but knew she shouldn't on first meetings.

“Hello!” she said happily, “My name is Candy Corn! But a lot of other Soquili call me Candy!” She took in the question about this area being her home and said, “No, I don’t live around here.” She said shaking her head, “I live in the other direction.” She said pointing a hoof in the direction she had come from, “But I love to go to new places, and I haven’t been here before…” She tried to stay within a day’s run of the two-leggers who help her out at times. But sometimes she stayed out longer. Today, however was a day she needed to go back before night fell because she had been playing in the snow, and she could freeze her little hoofs off if she didn't. She smiled up at Amadahy, “Are you new around here? I haven’t seen anyone as pretty as you are…”

She was rather happy she had come this way today. Perhaps she could make a new friend!

Sorry about the wait! I'm not getting my notifications sad

She tossed her head slightly and she couldn't help but feel extremely large compared to the smaller equine. She looked in the direction that the young mare had pointed and she wondered how far away it was. She might have to wander that way sometime to meet her if that was alright. She didn't have any friends yet and if things went well she would be her first one. "It's nice to meet you Candy." She really enjoyed her name, it suited her.

"I'm going to miss the snow when it melts." She said with a small frown, she truly enjoyed the winter months but spring was a time of renewal and she was excited for the warmer weathers. She flicked her ears slightly and she smiled and gave her a nod. "Yes, I'm new to the area. And thank you.. I find your coloring to be very unique and eye catching." She hadn't been referred to as pretty before, she really thought she was mediocre colored compared to the bright orange of the lovely mare.

She looked up at the sky for a moment and then she looked back down at candy. She was so tiny, she loved the minis. She brought her head to her front leg and rubbed it gently to get an itch that had just appeared. She lifted her head and tossed her bangs from her face. "Is there something you'd like to do?" She was kind of out of ideas.

Candy had to agree that when the snow melted, some of the magic of the season was lost, but then, each season had it’s own magic didn't it? Spring brought colors and rebirth, summer fun running in the shallow streams nearby, and fall with it’s soft colors and promise of comfy nights by the fire. Not to mention all the yummy foods that the two leggers find and harvest, especially the roasted apples…

Candy blushed when hearing how she seemed to the other Soquili. She ran around Amadahy saying, “I’m a little plainer than most Usida, but you have swirls, pretty colors, and wings! Well flutter wings, but wings are wings!” Candy stopped running and began to jump up and down saying, “From the other Soquili that I have met, even the other Usida, I am rather small!”

She then ran up a small hill, (of course as oblivious about where she was going when presented with the “What do you want to do?” question and not mindful of the snow drifts she might fall into), and smiled brightly. “Have you ever done this?!” She said as she flopped onto her belly and slid down the small hill. She screamed in enjoyment as she slid faster and faster, and then reached the foot of the hill.

She stood up and shook off the snow from her coat and smiled brightly. “It’s rather fun, the two-leggers do it every winter… and sometimes I take the small ones on my back!”

The bright spring colored wind horse that would could come by once in a long while would not do it… at first, but then he got over the mess it would make of his hair and then joined Candy. Once he used his wings to move faster down the hill and it looked like so much fun!

She watched as the mare started to run in circles around her and she tossed her head with a smile. How was she plain? Then again she hadn't met a whole lot of others since moving here so the young mare could be correct. However, she still found her to be quite lovely. That wasn't going to change in her mind. "Thank you. And I don't think you are so tiny." She wasn't ungodly small, but she had no other Usidas to compare her to so who really knew. At her question of what she would like to do the young thing darted up an embankment and what happened next was rather interesting.

She watched as the orange colored mare flopped onto her stomach and slid down the hill, her enjoyment echoing through the landscape. She perked her ears and pawed the ground. This wasn't something she had ever tried before. Was she going to be able to do it? She was lighter than most breeds, even probably lighter than the young mare in front of her if she thought about it. How did she do that again? She trotted to the top of the hill, she rarely flew unless she absolutely had to, and she recalled what Candy had done. "This is truly something I have never tried before. So I should warn you, this might turn out ugly." She said with a small laugh.

She mimicked what Candy had done and was actually, hallway successful in sliding down the hill. It was hard for her to keep her legs straight the way she needed them to be so they would snag a little bit, but other than that she was successful for the most part. "That was quite enjoyable." She got up and shook the snow from her coat and she ran up the hill and did it once, then twice more. She nickered enjoyably as she got the hang of it better and she looked over at the orange and white mare and smiled. "What else do you know?" She was curious about what other games Candy might know of to share.

Candy thought for a few moments after Amadahy had asked her what else she knew what to do in the snow.

Then she had it.

"Well, the two-leggers also make snow two-leggers..." she thought about the times she saw the small foal two-leggers making what looked like a body of a two legger in the snow with balls of snow.

"We have to make it with big balls of snow, the bottom is bigger than the other two, and one of the other two is bigger than the third small one on top that is the head." she wondered if that was a good enough explanation of what the little two-leggers did.

Make two leggers? What on earth was she talking about? She was curious now and her face showed it as she watched what the orange mare was doing. She listened intently as she explained what was supposed to be done and she nodded her head. She believed she understood. "I think I understand what you're saying. We are making a figure out of snow that looks like us?" This was a very bizzare thing for her to do. She had never thought to create something out of snow. She liked to roll in it, but creating something? That was something new entirely.

She was almost certain that was what she was describing to her. She hadn't seen one before but she was almost sure that was what was about to happen. She was aware she didn't have hands like humans but perhaps she could push some snow together with her hooves into a ball that was tight enough to pick up some snow. She tried to get one started and she looked at Candy after her pitiful attempt was started so they could start to make it into a bigger ball. "How is this so far?" She decided to try with her muzzle a little as well and that helped a little bit. But not much.

She looked down at the misshaped ball of snow and she hoped it would work for a start. Afterall, she didn't have hands to make it perfectly round and symmetrical. But it was the best she could do for now and she glanced over towards Apple for reassurance.

It's ok! xD
Candy didn't know what she was doing ether, but she, as usual, was enthralled.

Candy nuzzled some snow into a pile and then tried to make it packed and round, then nuzzled it over to Amadahy's.

"Help me nuzzle it on top!" she said nuzzling the pile of packed snow on her nose so it balanced on the pile Amadahy made and her nose.

Though they didn't have hooves like the two-leggers had, and it was harder than the two-leggers made it look, it was fun with a friend, and Candy couldn't have had a better time in the snow.

"It might not look like a two-legger, or a Soq, but it's fun!"

When candy asked for some help she did her best to help with the balls of snow she had created for the head. She helped place some snow on the top of the creation they were in the process of making and she helped try to smooth out some of the other sections. The two leggers definitely had a better time of it since they had fingers and all she had was hooves. Still, she did her best and it wasn't for lack of trying either!

She took a step back to admire the creature they had made and she looked over at candy and nickered slightly. "I don't think it looks too awful. What do you think?" She asked looking at it and contemplating trying again at a later time. She truly hadn't thought one could have fun like this in the snow so this was new and exciting to her. It was all thanks to her new friend and she was very pleased she had come out to explore today, or else she would never have met her.

"I have to agree, this is definitely a lot of fun. Thank you for expressing this idea." She gave the mare a warm smile and she rubbed the front of her leg with her muzzle slightly. She felt a small rumble in her tummy and she flicked her ears and looked at the orange mare. "Perhaps we can go find some food to eat?" She wouldn't have thought about eating except for the fact her stomach was all rumbles and grumbles. She hoped her friend said yes and came with her.

Candy shook off the snow in her mane, and looked at their snow two-legger. She smiled and looked up at Amadahy, "It's good enough!" She wandered a little ways away, found two sticks and wandered back to the snow two-legger and stuck them in it's sides. Since real two-leggers had those flopy things where their front hooves would be, so would their snow two-legger.

"There! A true two-legger!" She smiled brightly up at her friend. "It seems fun to the two-legger foals, so why not try it?" She heard the rumbling tummy and thought it was a rather good idea to try to find some food, "I don't know this area well, but we could try to find some food..." She didn't notice anything on her way here, she was too busy looking for snow drifts she might fall into, "Do you know of anywhere something might be? I fear I was looking out for snow drifts on my way here when I got out of the forest, not paying any attention to the area..."

She felt embarrassed she couldn't help her friend out. Personally she would go back to the two-leggers and see what they would have, but she didn't know if Amadahy would be comfortable around them... Oh well, she would only suggest that if they couldn't find any food.

She looked around trying to see if there was anything green to eat, but it was all white, and covered with snow. She wondered if Amadahy could see anything since she was taller.

“Can you see anything?” Candy tried to jump and look, but that seemed to fail, “I’m afraid I’m too short!” she grinned up at her companion.

She had to agree, it was as good as it was going to get. She watched as the mare pranced away and grabbed to branches and then shoved them into the sides and she couldn't help but whinny with laughter and she quieted down as she thought for a moment. She really didn't know where there might be food around here. She knew there was some back at her teepee.

"I don't think there is much for food around here, though I do believe there is some back at my home." She said flicked her tail slightly against her legs as she looked around. She wasn't seeing anything, spring would soon be here though and food would be plentiful again.

"Would you like to come with me? Perhaps you can meet my companion Aura." She couldn't remember if she had told the mare about her wolf but then again this day was an interesting one and she often forgot what she had spoke of unless it was of dire importance.

Candy was happy that there was an offer of food! She just had to remember about the snow drifts on the way there, and hopefully it wouldn't snow and she would lose her tracks on the way back to her two-leggers.

“I would be my pleasure to accompany you to your home.” She smiled and said, “As long as your companion doesn't mind that is, I would be glad to meet them as well!”

Candy followed the mare, keeping her head down and looking out for snow drifts. Even though a big Soquili was with her, she still didn't feel like spending the rest of the afternoon in a pit of snow. She would be glad of a dry place to rest for a while before she would head back to her two-leggers. She needed to get back before nightfall in order to get dried off from her romp in the snow. And the roasted apples… she couldn't forget about them!

“Perhaps one day I can return the favor Amaday! My two leggers make really good roasted apples.” Her mouth watered with the mere thought, “That is if they have them. It’s a rare treat to get them in winter, but on cool summer and fall nights, they really hit the spot!”

Ah how she longed for the summer. Then she could go swimming with the little two-leggers and run with them across the fields. Hopefully it would come soon enough!

She ran into the back of Amaday as she had been absorbed in her thoughts and looking for pitfalls. She fell, though she just smiled up saying, “Sorry! Lost in thoughts about summer!” She looked around and said, "Are we there?"
