It was late when she decided to leave the club, and it wasn't that far from her apartment, so she felt it was better to not call for her car. And it was a good thing that she didn't. At least she thought so when she saw the still body of the animal at the alley entry.

Normally, she would just walk on by, not even stopping to see if the creature were dead or alive, but the night was chilly, and she just felt like she should stop and see. There was just something that told her she should look.

As she drew closer, she saw the rise and fall of the animal's chest, indicating that it was still alive, still breathing. It was alive, though hurt. She moved still closer, unsure if the animal might get up and lash out due to pain or whatnot, and she was definately not going to allow herself to be attacked, but she wasn't going to walk on by and do nothing.

And it was a cat. She was very fond of cats, though she did not have any of her own. They were such elegant creatures, and one needed to work for their affection. Something she could respect.

'Hey kitty, kitty.' She murmured soothingly as she moved closer, removing her overcoat to wrap the animal up so she could get it safely to her apartment. She could see what was wrong there, and see about getting the animal back to it's owner, if it had one, or offering it a place to recover if it didn't. 'Easy there, I'm not gonna hurt you. Let's get you somewhere safe. That's a good kitty.'

Pain. Blindingly hot pain. That was the entirety of Khaymans world right now.

He couldn't be sure if it had been an intellectual test, or foolishness, that had prompted him to test the boundaries of his strength. He'd been skywalking all day, bounding from one place to another, and while on a usual day he rarely so much as misstepped, he'd been pushing himself hard lately. He wanted to be stronger, faster, more useful to those around him. Guardians weren't fighters by any means, he knew that of course, but he didn't want to have someone NEED to worry about him and his position in a fight should he get caught up in one. He'd be lying if he didn't admit he'd been fiddling around with the idea he'd gotten from peering in the library windows lately, that perhaps he could channel his energy into healing small wounds or transferring energy with others.

So far, it had proven itself an unfruitful idea. He'd ended up trying to jump too far between buildings above a rowdy nightclub, running barely on fumes, and he'd misjudged it by less than an inch. Less than an inch had dictated the difference between a successful and enjoyable run, and mind numbing pain in his legs.

The most damaged of which was tangled up in his scarf, the material having caught on a fire escape on the way down, jerking it disturbingly out of place. If he could string coherent thoughts together at the moment, he'd have scolded himself for being so blindly arrogant and distracted. Now how could he go wait at the park for that sen---ahem, go to the park to hunt every night as had become his custom for the past few weeks.

He made a small, gruff noise, indistinguishable enough to be mistaken for a regular animal sound as he was unceremoniously picked up by someone. It was warmer here, wherever here was. He hadn't any idea how long he'd been out in the cold lying there. His feelings were hurt, marginally, that no one at headquarters noticed his presence enough to realize he'd been missing longer than usual, but the voice surrounding him was kind and soft and comforting.

He hissed out of reflex when his leg was held too tightly to her body, and it jerked back at an odd angle. Either wrenched out of place or broken, but either way in need of a splint of some kind. Had he been able to think clearly, he might have used his energy signature to flare up and draw attention for help from either senshi or chaos agent alike, but he supposed he'd make do with a regular human. Nuzzling into her jacket, he yowled softly again, a rumbly yet pitiful sound, especially coming from the usually stoic mau.

Perhaps it really had been better no one back home had seen him this way, after all.

Lianna cringed as the wrapped bundle in her arms yowled in pain, unintentionally squeezing the injured cat closer to her for a split second before loosening her grip and trying to adjust the poor thing to minimise the pain as much as possible.

'Easy now, lovely. I know you're hurting pretty bad, but it'll be just a few more minutes. We're almost home now, that's a good kitty.' She kept up a steady stream of conversation - one-sided -trying to keep the cat calm and as still as possible, and to help soothe her nerves. 'That's it lovely. Almost there. Just keep still.'

It would take her driver longer to reach them, then it would be to walk the rest of the way to her apartment building, so it didn't make sense to call. And she didn't want to jostle the animal around any more than necessary. It might aggravate his wounds, and those that she had been able to see had been bad enough, and he could have more injuries that she couldn't see... She picked up her pace, almost running the rest of the way to her apartment.

Quickly opening the door to her apartment, she rushed inside and carefully placed the precious bundle on her overstuffed couch, and moved about to turn on all the lights so she could see to address the wounds, not caring about the blood and grime staining her coat and sofa.

'This might hurt a little bit lovely, but I'm going to have to unwrap the coat now so I can see your injuries and clean them up. It'll be ok though, just hold still.'
