All dressed in pink, her blonde hair tied up in a loose bun, Anais sang to herself as she stirred the big pot of stew. It was raining outside, she could see it running down the steamed up windows. Windows, they were certainly a novelty. Before she had been offered the building that was now her shop she had been running it from a makeshift stall in the marketplace. This was much better, it was watertight and had seating for her customers, a few at a wooden counter and then a few at tables beyond that. It was counter service as she had no employees, all her food was cooked and ready to go. Stew, savoury pies and pasties, cakes. Good hearty food to fill people up and keep them going.

Her kitchen was open to the shop so that she could see customers and talk to them whilst she worked. It was turning out to be a rather quiet day.

Cyrus walked through the rain without a care to what it was doing to him. He was too tired to care. He had decided to escape Elora's attentions for a while. Her preferred mode of helping him to recover was not entirely helping him at all. In fact, he was fairly certain he was more exhausted now than he had been when he had arrived at The Garden.

His wandering through the rain was not aimless. He was looking for a particular place, a nice little shop where he could get a proper home cooked meal. That wasn't to say that the food at The Rose Garden was not good, it just wasn't the main attraction, and therefore lacked in many ways. Finding the little shop, he stepped up under the awning and pulled the door open. The cheerful bells that greeted him barely registered as he was wrapped up in the most amazing smells. His stomach gave a light rumble and a smirk slipped across his lips.

"You're not very busy today," he observed to the petite blonde woman behind the counter as he dripped on her floor.

Anais looked up at the tinkle of the shop bells and the cool draft that drifted in with the rain. It was Cyrus, one of her regulars. A curious man, or giant ... half giant she liked to think. He was massive, not fat, just huge. A wall of muscle. He looked unusual too, he wore lots of jewellery for a man, though it did not make him look feminine.
"Rain, they're all hiding out in their nice warm homes." She moved away from the pot and gestured for him to sit. "You look like you've seen better days."

Cy nodded and glanced to the windows.
"Well, that suits me just fine," he replied and stepped forward. As he did, he flexed his power as much as he dared and the water on him began to steam off. No sense making a mess for her to clean up. "I feel like I've seen better days," he smirked lightly and moved to take a seat on one of the stools. "I was out in the world and it took more of a toll on me than I expected it to."

"Oh?" She asked, watching him as he steamed and seemed to dry off, that was funny. Or at the least rather strange. "What can I get for you? I'm thinking something to build all that lost energy up? A big bowl of stew, it's chicken and herb."

Cyrus noticed the way her eyes got a little bigger as he used his power to dry off. He supposed for a mortal it would be difficult to pinpoint what he was without any proper hints. Reaching up, he smoothed his damp hair back and then leaned forward to fold his large arms on her counter.
"That sounds perfect right now. The biggest bowl that you have," he smiled a little. "And some bread I think too. How has business been since you moved here?"

"Better." She replied as she sank down behind the counter to grab one of her smaller mixing bowls that would work as a big soup bowl. "I think people are more inclined to sit in here and while away time eating and drinking. I'm selling more food, before I sold a lot of pasties." She straightened again and placed the bowl on the counter. "What have you been up to?" She ladled some soup into the bowl and reached for some handmade crusty bread.
"Oh I have something you'll like." She reached for a shaker and shook some red spices over the soup. "A bit of fire."

Cyrus watched her as she moved around behind the counter. He liked to watch her when she was cooking and serving. There was something about the small movements she made, the confidence she had, and the grace she displayed that was rather captivating to him. He was certain he could while away quite a few long hours in this place, eating and watching her move about. About to answer her, he paused in picking up his spoon to start digging in when she declared she had something he'd like. Watching with interest, he breathed in the spices deeply and a rather broad grin spread across his lips. Not many people got to see it, but then there were few things in the world that could bring it out.

"Excellent. Thank you," he nodded gratefully to her and proceeded to pick his spoon up. "I have been helping my lord, Industry, with setting up his new forge. He found a young woman from the mountains and we went to help her family. They were cut off from the world and very sick."

"Did you manage to help them?" There was concern in her eyed for the people she had never met. She poured him a large drink and handed it over, the then poured one for herself. She liked to watch him eat, he always seemed to enjoy her food.

Cy dug his spoon into the stew and glanced up at her concern. Nodding, he slipped the spoonful into his mouth without blowing and savoured each and every one of the flavours.
"We did. They were miners. There had been a cave in and some lead ore had fallen into their drinking supply. They were being poisoned. We had taken a doctor with us and she helped sort them out after Isambard and I and some others cleared the obstruction," he explained and dug his spoon in again. "It felt good to help," he admitted. "This is heavenly Anais."

"That's really good to know." She didn't like to hear about people hurting, there had already been far too much death and pain in the world. She smiled at his compliment. "I have one talent in this world and that is cooking." She declared and took a sip of her drink. "I'm glad you enjoy it so much. You don't get good food at home?"

"I am certain you have more than one talent in this world," Cy mused as he continued to eat the amazing stew. Her question drew a wry snort of laughter from him and he reached over to his bread to break a piece off. "Well, I don't get good food like this at home," he replied and kept his eyes down on his bowl. "This is especially welcome after eating travel rations for so long and the people we were staying with were dwarves. While they do enjoy their food, it is a bit rustic in comparison." Pausing, he dipped his bread into his stew and then looked up at her. "What have you been doing other than working here?"

"Well, that's no good. Though I won't complain if it means that I get more business." She took a seat on the stool behind the counter. "Well, not much really. I've been decorating my apartment." She gestured above the shop. "Looking for furniture and of course I've been out and about looking for new ingredients to use. I found ginger the other day sooo I have made a ginger and lemon cheesecake if you'd like to try some for dessert.""

Cy continued to eat as he listened to her tell him about her life. It was so simple, but that was what made it so appealing. He, of course, lived to serve his lord and he did enjoy a good adventure every once in a while, but it sometimes felt as if the simple things were beyond him. Even his relationship with Elora. It was all or nothing and he was never entirely sure of her sincerity. She didn't get to the top of her profession for nothing, after all.

"That sounds amazing," he smiled and looked up at her again. "Next time i travel I will keep an eye out for new and unusual ingredients for you. I would be interested to see what you do with them."

Anais' eyes lit up at the thought of exotic new ingredients.
"That would be nice, I like experimenting. With so many people around here it's fun to learn different dishes from all the different places." She stood to go and get him a piece of cake.
"So what's it like to work for a god?"
