PROMPT:
Herb Hunting

Solo Adventure
May be of any Path or Race.
This quest may be done once every week. You must choose to hunt in either Serenia or Soudul, go to the prompt that matches your choice.

Rating: User Image
Reward: x2 Gold Petalia or Fluffotton | x1 Shattered Granite

Serenia:
The land around you is gushing with golden leaves and bright green plants with colorful blossoms bursting out scenting the air with delicate flavors.

You heard in the market place or perhaps from gossip among your peers that a special herb grew along the banks of Lake Tyluafel. The Orderite Mages prized it for its radiant and healing properties, claiming that spells and potions made with the herb were much stronger. The problem is, no one ever described the herb. All you overheard was that you would "know it when you see it"; and with that you left to go out and seek it yourself! All you know is that it dwells mostly on the Eastern banks of Tyluafel and that it is easiest to find during the morning.

Please RP yourself going to the lake and searching.
If you are searching in the morning, go to "Light".
If you are searching at any other time, go to "Failure".

Soudul:
The land about you is dark and the only light is from the soon-setting darkened sun.

You heard in the market place or perhaps from gossip among your peers that a special herb grew along the banks of Lake Koralifel. The Oblivionite Mages prized it for its dark and powerful properties, claiming that spells and potions made with the herb were much stronger. The problem is, no one ever described the herb. All you overheard was that you would "know it when you see it"; and with that you left to go out and seek it yourself! All you know is that it dwells mostly on the Western banks of Koralifel and that it is easiest to find at night.

Please RP yourself going to the lake and searching.
If you are searching at night, go to "Dark".
If you are searching at any other time, go to "Failure".

Light:
As you hunt among the pale green bushes and golden brown grasses in the mid morning sun, a pale light catches your eye off to your left, sparkling from a patch of cattails along the bank. A scent that reminds you of a summer day comes from that direction.

Drawn to the scent and the light, you push the cattails aside to reveal a softly glowing pale gold plant. It's soft looking leaves extend outwards from it's base, stuck in the ground. This must be the Gold Petalia plant that they spoke of! After all, what other herb glowed a pale gold?

Please RP your discovery and thoughts and then leaving. Feel free to RP your character going back home and bragging or showing their new discovery to teachers/parents. Make sure you reach 500 words or this won't count towards your RP requirements.
Reward: x2 Gold Petalia

Dark:
As you hunt among the gray and purple bushes and black grasses, the moon light shining above you, a strange glow off to your right catches your eye. Even though it is night, you can see a strange blue glow burning from within a patch of cattails along the bank. A scent that reminds you of a dusty library comes from that direction.

Drawn to the scent and the deep glow, you push the cattails aside to reveal a glowing faded blue fluffy-looking herb that spins and circles around to the center, much like a rose. This must be the Fluffotton that they spoke of! After all, what other herb glowed a faded blue and had that cloud-like shape?

Please RP your discovery and thoughts and then leaving. Feel free to RP your character going back home and bragging or showing their new discovery to teachers/parents. Make sure you reach 500 words or this won't count towards your RP requirements.
Reward: x2 Fluffotton
User Image

Failure:
No matter how hard you look you just can't find any strange or different types of herbs. Perhaps the people were lying and pulling a prank on you; or maybe you are looking in the wrong spot. The only thing of interest you find is a strange patch of pale gray granite that looks out of place amid the golden/dark surroundings.

Reward: x1 Shattered Granite

RP your fruitless search and finding of the granite. While not as impressive or rare as the strange herb you heard about, you are certain that perhaps this granite can be of use. Feel free to RP your character going back home and any encounters they wish to have along the way. Make sure you reach 500 words or this won't count towards your RP requirements.

Mae hummed softly to himself as he made his way through the trees. He recently read that he could find a rare a powerful herb growing down by Lake Tyluafel. Generally, such a thing wouldn't interest him, because he didn't give two fudge cakes about herbs. On the other hand, things that were rare and powerful and found reasonably close to his home were a different story... Except that... He had no idea what he was looking for. The book hadn't had any pictures, and the only description (if it could even be called that) was "You'll know it when you see it!" For some reason, he'd felt like the very book held a condescending attitude toward him. What did it know, anyway? Stupid book not telling him what he wanted to know... His hum turned to an annoying grumble as he shoved his way through trees, leaves, and thickets.

'Oh, relax, child.' Darke scoffed through their link, gliding above the trees and far out of Mae's view. The Orderite could just barely feel the ghost of the wind rushing through Darke's feathers, could almost hear it whipping by him. But he drew himself back to his own mind quickly, to focus on the task at hand. That stupid plant!

'It just seems silly to put something like that in a book, and then not give a proper description!' Mae retorted venomously as he breached the treeline. Before him lay the expanse of Lake Tyluafel, glistening in the morning sunlight. When he was young, he'd come here and fought dragons with the powerful Gaili, Samael, but now... he was alone. Well, alone with Darke, of course. The Alihora glided down to meet him near the bank, now that the trees had thinned enough to let him pass. With a sigh, Mae pulled the book from his pack, turning to the few pages devoted to the mysterious herb. "Serenia: check. Morning: check. Eastern bank: check... All that's left is to find the damned thing." He muttered, stuffing the book away again.

So, the two split apart again, each diving into a grassy patch where the plant may be hiding. Everything looked so... normal and mundane to Mae, though. Surely none of these plants were exotic enough that they would elicit in immediate, 'I know it when I see it!' response. They were just the beautiful crisp brown and golden colors of all of Serenia's plant-life... With a sigh, Mae leaned back to inspect his surroundings. A glance off to one side revealed Darke... digging, for something. The Orderite shook his head and pulled his attention elsewhere, to something pale and shimmering near the water.

He tilted his head and rose to his feet to wander over to the anomaly to inspect it further. As he neared it the tickle of a new smell reached him, reminding him of the warm, dried grass he'd rolled about in with Darke during the hot summers they'd spent together. He crouched down near the bank, rummaging through a few cattails before something... different caught his eye. It was lovely. With smooth, silky looking leaves that almost seemed to glow with a warm radiance in the sunlight. Mae hadn't ever seen a plant like this before... Curiously, he plucked it from the ground, bringing it up to his nose to inhale the familiar scent a little deeper.

"Hey, Darke, what do you think of this?" he called out, raising the small plant to the sky from his place on the ground. The Aiskala perked up curiously, and made a few fluttering bounds towards him before he paused to inspect Mae's offering.

"It's certainly.... different?" Darke seemed to question hesitantly.

Mae beamed and nodded. Maybe even different enough to 'know it when he saw it!' He rummaged about a bit more, before finding another of the fronds. Still smiling, he packed them away neatly in his bag. "That's enough, I suppose. Let's head home!" He called to Darke, clambering atop his Bonded companion. It wasn't much, but at least they were leaving with something. And for now, that was good enough for Mae.
