Ratings: User Image

Special: A hybrid Orderite may attempt this. Just make sure you rp them getting hostile looks and comments!

Today you find yourself in the library. Are you here because you love books and the library is your home away form home? Or did you get sent her to search for a specific book by someone? For whatever reason that you have come, the Citadel's Library looms before you. It's pale gray and white marble columns hold up an immense domed roof. The large double doors of a deep golden brown wood are inlaid with winged figures battling dragons in copper inlay. Opening the doors, you see before you rows and rows of shelves, stashed full of books, looking up, you can see that the room is encircled with many balconies, all full of book shelves. Light falls from windows in the curved roof, causing the dust motes to glow golden in their path. A hushed silence fills the room, though you can hear the far off steps of someone as they wander the library though you can see no one else in the library other than a thin and be-speckled young man at a large desk to your right..

As you wander the shelves, looking for what you came here for or looking for something interesting, a cold breeze blows across you neck. Turning about, you see only the warm light brown shelves and rows of books.. and one small side table with a stack of scrolls and loose papers at the end of the hallway of books. Amid the loose papers, you spot some ice... and it isn't melting even though this room is warm enough that ice shouldn't be able to last.

If you approach and look at the strange sheet of paper, you see that it is a map with its edges encrusted with ice. The map it self is cold to the touch, and the ice won't melt no matter what you do.

You may hide it and sneak out of the library, or ask the librarian who is at the front desk if you can take it. Should you ask, he will smile and tell you that the map can be taken out, since it is meant to guide some one and it can't guide you from in here! Take it and please come back one day and tell him where it led so that he may write of your journey...

Reward: Icy Treasure Map, It leads to another adventure you may do at another time! To get this reward you must have at least 500 words!

"Well, are you coming?" Mae called out as he opened the front door of his cabin. Honestly, Darke had a bad habit of complaining of boredom, but being too lazy to leave the house. It made no sense to the Orderite. Nonetheless, he heard a groan of annoyance from the living room, and then the Alihora plodded into view, sulking through the open door and out onto the porch. Despite his companion's attitude, Maeron chuckled. "Don't be that way." He chided softly as he patted Darke's neck. "You know how much quicker it is to get to the city if you come along!" The Aiskala only rolled his eyes as Mae mounted him, and they were off.

While it would've taken Mae hours to reach Ashen City on foot, Darke had them there in no time at all, and before long, the Orderite was beaming up at the tall walls of the Citadel's Library. He'd been here a few times before, usually peeking his head in right after school, but he'd learned early on that 'borrowing' wasn't something he was very good at. Mae liked to possess, and it was a challenging feat when someone else owned what he wanted! Today was different, though. He wanted only to peruse for a few hours. Just to give him something to do. Maybe he'd learn more about Aisko, Darke's home continent. At that thought, he felt a surge of agreement from his companion. He grinned back at the Alihora. "Let's not wait outside, then!" He pushed open the enormous double doors and stepped inside.

It was exactly like it always was; rows upon rows and shelves upon shelves filled with books and lining the walls and stacked on desks, where studying youngsters had left them behind to seek out something else. But as far as Mae could tell, the library wasn't particularly busy today. He turned to look over his shoulder at Darke, raising a finger to his lips in a reminder to be quiet as they walked inside.

Mae walked over to a catalog box, and skimmed through it airily, searching for titles that seemed like they might mention something of Aisko. Hopefully they knew more than just how cold it was there.... As the minutes dragged on, he heard Darke wander off, taking a more proactive approach to finding what he wanted, but Mae only shook his head. In a place this size, it was impossible to find anything by luck or chance! But after a while, he came across something entitled, "The Frozen Wasteland and Those That Inhabit It". Mae grinned. That sounded like it was about Aisko!

He turned from the catalog and started off in search of the book's location. He hadn't gone far when a frosty breeze skated across the back of his flesh. "Darke!" Mae hissed accusingly, whirling to face the direction of the breeze. His eyes narrowed in annoyance as he spotted... nothing. His Bonded must've scampered off before he was caught... As he was about to turn back to his initial search, he spotted a frozen sheet of ice encrusting one of the desks. Instantly, he tensed, gazing around sharply for anyone else that may have seen it. Darke couldn't go about freezing the Library's property! He'd get them kicked out!

Mae made his way hastily over to the side table and attempted to dust the ice off onto the floor, where it would hopefully do less harm to the books and scrolls. Despite being broken into glorious, shimmering fractals, it didn't melt, and the Orderite began to wonder if Darke could've done something like that... He sifted through the papers to check for damage, but was caught off guard when his fingers came into contact with a frozen sheet of parchment. Curiously, Mae inspected it. It was cold, with ice encrusted about the edges. The lines were partially faded, but not so much that he couldn't make out the outlines of the continent of Aisko.

His teal orbs widened. A map... A map of something in Aisko... 'Darke, come back to me!' He called across their link as he headed off toward the librarian. "Sir, I was wondering if I could perhaps borrow this?" He asked quietly. Darke appeared at his side as he finished asked, giving a curious ruffle of his feathers.

The man blinked from beneath his spectacles, then lowered his gaze to the map Mae held. He chuckled softly. "Well, son, I don't think it'll do anyone any good here, now will it? You may take it, but do remember to come back and tell an old man of your journeys..."

Mae grinned and nodded. "Yes, sir." he agreed, then waved to Darke to follow him out. Something like this would probably be much more helpful than any book could be...
