Jerry drew in a deep breath. Was this too forward? It was probably too forward. But after everything that had happened he deserved this, didn't he? And SHE'D like it and SHE deserved something nice, and he was LUCKY to be able to take some leave, even if this trip would cost him a good chunk of his savings but... but it was worth it.
Maybe it was too forward.
But who else would appreciate this more?
He straightened his tie in the mirror. He had called in a favor with a friend here and there, lending him the bits he was missing- his remaining brown suit still a bit worn, but at least a suit, and his favorite sweater vest he reserved purely for important situations. It was the last piece of his Grandmother he had, and kept it in a safe hidden place, usually. But for today...? Today he wanted to feel normal. He carefully combed his hair parting it and slicking it back neatly, pausing only to grimmace where it was thinning. What was getting too long, he pulled back in a short little ponytail, more like a pigtail, but he liked to THINK it was a ponytail.
Yes.
He arranged the questionable flowers he had picked from the jungle and looked over the envelope.
He was ready.
Carefully, he made his way down the hall, looking for the room Chantelle was staying in.
Once the number and the actual room clicked, he blinked. Rep's hoard was there, wasn't it? Oh lord! Fearing trouble, he quickly stepped to the door, knocking frantically, "Chantelle? Chantelle!!"

Rep's room was not an ideal place to live, stripped out, all the furniture it presently held was a stripper pole and various mirror s. Lawr had taken to sleeping on the floor in his duvets and pillows much to Butch's delight. But what mattered was the bathroom, a private shower and sanctuary to don his all important masks. After Melody's death he'd gone back to dressing each day as Chantelle, just in case.
That day he was sitting reading when Jerry started yelling, a real book, not the vampire rubbish he was forced into by his persona. He put it away and when he stood it was Chantelle again.
"Jerry!" She called running to the door and throwing it wide. "Are you allri- woah handsome. " she cut herself off with a smile and a blush. "What's the occasion?" Though she already knew.

"I was worried-" He cut off, catching sight of the room behind her and it's lone pile of blankets and stripper pole. "Gosh, it's empty!' He wobbled with a look of relief and disappointment at once.
And then he realized there was a stripper pole in the middle of the room.
Her compliment only sent his face crimson behind the scars, panic taking over the rest. "UM. HI. Uh. I um."
I told you the suit was over doing it. Shoulda' played it cool.
As usual, he ignored his weapon.
"W-well, um. I know it's a little bit early but um. V-valentine's is coming and um," He winced a bit. He never seemed to get this holiday right. He thought he could at least put forth the effort to try this year.
He pushed his glasses up his nose and held the flowers and envelope out to her frantically.

Chantelle nodded as Jerry eyed the empty room. "Yup it's very empty, I hear it used to be full of trash but now it's all empty and nice! If a little bare." She arched her back uncomfortably. "Sleeping on the floor isn't much fun I have to say, but it's better than like, sleeping under water, heh." She followed his gaze to the stripper pole and frowned in disapproval. "And yeahhh, the dude who lived here like, has some weird tastes."
She returned her attention to him and positively beamed with delight and excitement. "Oh my god yes! Valentines! I've never HAD a valentines." She took the flowers, hugging them to her chest with one arm - careful not to crush them while she opened the envelope.
"I didn't get you anything." she pouted. "I've not had any real leave time or pay. But I will make it up to you, I will, I swear." She hopped eagerly on the spot. "Aaahhh Jerry you are the best!"
When she finally opened the envelope, she read the contents aloud eagerly.

"I... I know we j-just met and um. You know. It's not... I didn't expect anything I mean we've only just... um. I just thought... I d-don't know. Um." He fidgeted as she opened the envelope. "I th-thought it would be um. Fun. I've only seen it once when I was a kid-" he babbled.
There was no card inside, just two tickets, balcony seats to Phantom of the Opera in New York. "I'll have to um. Look into getting you leave but it's got to be alright I mean we work hard and.. and um."

Chantelle eyed the tickets in genuine surprise and fell silent, halting her frenzied rambling in its tracks. It took her a few long moments to speak again, looking up at Jerry with a huge smile. "I've like never seen it in real life, only like, movies and stuff and recordings." she took a slow deep breath. "That's... it's about the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me. And in new york. I ...I don't even know what to say." She turned her attention back to the tickets as if they might vanish if she looked away too long.
When she spoke it seemed she was blinking back tears. "You really really really are the best Jerry, you are the sweetest person I know, or have ever known." She gave him a long look glittering with uncertainty, everything about her posture crying out that she wanted to hug him, but that she wasn't sure if it would be appropriate.

Jerry flushed, becoming increasingly fascinated by his feet. "It's... it's nothing, really! I just... you're very.. I just thought. I haven't been to a show in so long and I really wanted to and of all people you'd really appreciate it, I thought, so um." He felt silly for having dressed up for this. He wasn't sure what he was expecting to accomplish. Confess his infatuation? That much he figured was embarrassingly obvious. His voice had dropped down to an unsure mumble, "I um. I like you a lot so. Um."

She reached out a calming hand to rest it on Jerry's own arm. "I appreciate it." she said reassuringly. "I appreciate it, and you a great deal." The smile couldn't keep off her face as she carefully put the tickets back in the envelope to keep them safe. "I like you a lot too." she said softly. "No one else has been anywhere near as nice to me as you have, and absolutely no one understands music the way you do here. I can't wait to see the musical with you." She couldn't help but show how adorable she found him when he was flustered.

The flush remained, but at least a smile lit up his face. He reached to put his hand on her's on his arm, "So... so you like it! I... I knew you would, it's a beautiful show and I know you like it so um! Um!"

"I do. I really like it, I like, always kind of wished I'd get to meet someone as talented as the phantom was. But I think you are maybe even more talented. " she said, and couldn't keep the smile away even if she tried. She gave his arm a squeeze and lowered her voice slightly. "And like, much much prettier. You look so fancy right now."

That just brought his fumbling back, "Oh... I... I d-d-don't know about p-prettier ahahaha m-maybe... maybe on p-par with him around here..." He gestured to the scarred side of his face, still flushing hotly as he tried to laugh off his nervousness. "I've got about a hundred percent more nose than him, though ahahahahahahahahha um." His voice wavered, "I mean... you're looking very p-pretty though... I um. I like the color of that lipstick!"

"No, definitely more handsome." she said. "And I like your scars too, they make you look interesting, like you tell a story, like there's more to you than other people. It makes you special. All of you is special, from your nose to your playing ability." she inhaled deeply of the flowers and looked startled at the intensity of the scent.
"These are lovely too, I'll like need to find a vase." she looked away blushing herself. "I don't know how to even begin to thank you "

"No thanks necessary! Just... just... your company means a lot to me. Um. I've got sort of a... bad history at this sort of thing and um. I just. Oh god, I'll stop talking now."

"No" she said, please don't stop talking, I like what you have to say, it's like when you tell me to just play what I feel on the piano. I don't want you to feel embarrassed around me." She moved just a little closer. "I'm like pretty bad at um at this sort of thing myself. "

He could feel his heart in his throat, twisting his hands frantically before finally he couldn't stand it any longer. Before he could chicken out, he suddenly leaned in, catching those colorful lips in his own.
As he pulled back, he fought the urge to shout "AWOOWOOWOO" and run away. Instead he wobbled in place, bracing himself for the impending slap.
