Personality: Paige is a dreamer, ruled by her imagination, and styles herself as an extroverted introvert. She loves being around people, making friends and partaking in social events. At the same time, she feels like she's being socially awkward and paranoid and will at times need to retreat to a quiet place to bolster her nerves. Or she'll avoid a situation all together if her insecurities get the better of her, fleeing back to wherever she can feel private and safe.
Paige tries to put on a face of casual happiness but on average bounces between blind optimism and dramatic pessimism, depending upon her mood and what has affected her that day, or even that hour. Often she is prone to over exaggeration and extreme displays of emotion.
She has a strange love for organization. She likes to see things arranged by size, or by color, or by some other system she takes into her mind. When the mood takes her it can obsess her for hours, sorting or resorting her books or movies as she decides she doesn't like her previous order, and that this NEW one is much better. Then doing it again when she decides that no, really, the first way was best.
When Paige is angry or upset, she sulks. She's not adept at explaining her emotions or talking things out and any attempts to do so only make her angrier. She's not a screamer or violent in her anger, but instead clams up or if pushed too far, breaks down into hysteric tears. The best method of dealing with her is to either apologize, or wait till she works through her own embarrassment and either apologizes, or makes some sort of awkward attempts to return things to normal. She'll accept responsibility eventually when she knows she was in the wrong, but if she think's you're to blame, she'll dig her heels in and not give in until she's tired of being angry. At that point she'll grudgingly pretend nothing has happened. She hasn't forgotten though.
Physical Description: Paige is somewhat short of height and average of weight, with a healthy little curve to her growing body. Her skin is fair and doesn't tan well while her hair is dark brown and never quite straight, it tends to curl and flip up at the ends, some in towards her face, some out to her shoulders. She has blue eyes and a faint flush across her cheeks and nose that grows more prominent when she's feeling a strong emotion. Paige is fond of bold, jewel toned fabrics and short but full skirts that swish around her knees when she moves. She doesn't go much for jewelery, but might wear a necklace for special occasions if she remembers to.
History:
Paige is a harper, child of harpers. Her father, Gedderel, is a Journeyman and helps keep the Weyr's archives up to date and her mother Pailla is of a more mathmatical breed of harper. She assists in the pricing of imports and exports from the weyr, as well as the organization of weyrcosts.
Paige took to music easily considering her breeding. She learned to play the fiddle almost as soon as she was old enough to hold one. Paige has a basic harpers training everywhere else, she can do sums, read, sing and draw as well as the average person, but her preference above all is her instrument, and dance! Paige is fond of fast jigs and country style dancing and at 18 turns old, is now starting to play the songs she learned from older riders after hours.
She loves her craft, but a career she doesn't see coming of it. Instead, her dream is to be a dragonrider. Growing up, sneaking out to play for the riders when they gathered after dinner to drink and tell stories, she fell in love with them and the idea. Paige has stood for clutches ever since she came of age. Even with Thread having returned she never let go of her fantasy of having a dragon partner of her own.
The apparent lack of interest from dragon-kind has been hard on her so far. It's an emotional roller coaster every time a clutch is laid. Even with telling herself not to she gets her hopes up and starts 'planning' out her future since THIS time will be it. Then, when she's once again left alone on the Sands she falls into a deep dark spell. It takes some time, but eventually she resigns herself back to candidacy until the next time a Gold rises.
Now, with only three turns left, her parents are pushing her to figure out an alternate career path. After candidacy, is she going to play fiddle for pocket change?
Talents: Plays a mean fiddle and is a decent dancer in a rough, country girl way. Has some literacy but little focus.
