-Rider-
Name: Caelis
Age: 17 years
Gender: Female
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Rank: Dragonrider
Former Craft: Harper Apprentice

Personality: Always on the go is definitely Caelis. From the crack of dawn until well after dark she is brimming with energy and generally rushing around from place to place so quickly it's hard to tell if she was really there. Sometimes this energy is a bad thing, like when she is supposed to be focusing on lessons and is instead daydreaming about the million things she could be doing instead and fidgeting in her seat. While she doesn't mean to irritate anyone she often annoys people who enjoy a slower approach to life.
Caelis is also very charismatic and has a hard-wired competitive streak. If someone happens to be walking by when the mood strikes her she has been known to talk even the most sensible person into a competition just for the sake of a good challenge. Her charisma is also used to her advantage when she feels a scolding coming, or when she wants to convince someone to assist her with chores.
This young woman also has a horrible knack for being impulsive. Perhaps she overheard some riders talking about something they saw on a flight or she heard a strange sound coming from the jungle, whatever it is, if it strikes her fancy she is sure to drop whatever she may be doing and head off to investigate. The exception to this is when she is doing something highly important, at this point her sense of duty overrides her impulse and she will try to finish her assigned task as quickly as possible so she can see what all the fuss is about.
Everyone is guilty of one of the seven deadly sins right? Caelis just so happens to be plagued with vanity. She is good at what she does with her craft, her studies, most physical endeavors, and she is attractive to boot. She knows this and is not above flaunting it. Whether it be showcasing her writing and singing talents, showing off her perfect exam results, or flirting Caelis loves to be the center of attention. She is quick to put others in their place, especially females, and males who tell her she isn't as good as they are simply because she's a woman.
There has also probably never been a person alive on Pern as opinionated as Caelis. Once she makes up her mind, that's it, end of discussion. Whatever she says is right, whatever you say is wrong. You might as well be arguing with a rock after she tells you what she thinks. Not even substantial evidence that she is in the wrong will sway her opinion in most situations however there has been one or two times where she quietly mumbled an apology and sulked off to nurse her wounded pride.

Weight: ~130lbs
Build: Athletic - muscular without being overly so, and with just enough curve in the right places to recognize her as a female
Skintone: Well tanned
Eye Color: Cerulean
Hair Color: Dark brown
Hair Style: Mid-back length, wavy, sometimes tied up in a messy bun.
Typical Clothing: Long tight-fitting pants that are flexible and easy to move around in, as well as a tight fitting short-sleeved shirt. She also wears boots and a belt and sometimes a loose fitting jacket if she feels she needs one.
Special Clothing: A dress with a tight fitting bodice and a looser flowing bottom. Usually embroidered with images of flowers or animals and a nicer pair of boots or sandals.

History: Born the daughter of a blue rider and a visiting journeywoman harper Caelis has been apart of the Weyr her entire life. Like the rest of the weyrbrats she was taken to the creche and then assigned to her foster mother Elissan. Her birthmother left the Weyr shortly after Caelis was taken to the creche and her father had no idea how to deal with a child. Despite her best efforts he refused to take any interest in her life.
Under the guidance of Elissan the young girl learned the basic lessons of life. Even though her father would not acknowledge her Caelis remained energetic and eager to learn everything she could. Around age 7 it became apparent that she had a talent for writing and singing and she would spend her free time imagining stories of dragons and firelizards and whers. Often she cast herself as a goldrider, a title which she felt evoked adoration and awe by all people of Pern.
As she grew older Caelis realized that not all people of Pern adored dragonriders as she had once thought. This reality caused her to think about her prior childhood dreams of becoming a rider. After speaking with Elissan it was decided that Caelis would go to HarperHall and begin training for the craft.
At 15 she returned to the Weyr and was just about finished her apprenticeship but she was Searched by her father's blue dragon. It is with some conflicting emotions that she returned to her home and prepared to Stand. The idea of Impressing was exciting and terrifying to the young woman and she could only calm herself with a mantra of 'If it is meant to be, it will.'
Her first time on the Sands had her walking away with her new best friend. A little blue hatchling by the name of Jabreth. Despite his pessimism and sometimes haughty attitude Caelis loves him more than life itself and works with him to become more outgoing and accepting of the other dragons and humans in the Weyr.

Talents: Singing and pulling off death-defying stunts with Jabreth mid-air
Notes: Bringing her over from Forgotten Flights, if I need to update something for her to fit in here I will, just let me know.

Egg Name: The aloof egg

Egg Description: Appearances can be deceiving, this pale green and grey egg looks as if it's been left by it's lonesome, just on the fringe of a trio of it's clutchmates. Truth be told the aloof egg has rolled itself away from them, quite content to be given some breathing room. Candidates who touch this egg will quickly find themselves dismissed. This little dragonet doesn't need you invading it's space and has no interest in your mind either.

Dragons Name: Jabreth
Dragons color: Blue

Dragon Size: Average in every way sad

Jabreth doesn't like you, or you or that wher over there and he's not really keen on that suspicious looking herdbeast in the pastures either, it probably tastes terrible. To be honest Jabreth doesn't like anyone or anything that isn't flying and chasing greens.

The blue is the aimless sort, he doesn't really have any plans or goals, he's just sort of drifting through life snapping at everyone who tries to give him advice and guidance. Can't everyone just go away and let him be? Jabreth's rider is left with an interesting situation. Here is a dragon who outside of his snappish nature is quite malleable. With the right encouragement he could be just about anything, except nice, Jabreth doesn't do nice.

To Jabreth not a lot in the world really matters. After all he's just a little blue so he barely matters in the grand scheme of things and what point is there in really trying then. His rider will need to help Jabreth deal with his insecurities if he's ever to reach his full potential.

Jabreth is average when it comes to intelligence. He absorbs lessons and follows instructions without too much trouble or need for further review. Some of his clutchmates could talk circles around him but he's no dimglow and he does just fine for himself in gathering the knowledge he needs to get by. If he gets confused by a subject he will quickly turn to his rider to demand an explanation. You'd have better luck turning him into a gold than you would getting him to ask for help from anyone else though. No one needs to know when he's struggling.

Jabreth would prefer to be alone most of the time, left to his musings and contemplating the pointlessness of life. He can fly as part of a wing without causing a disturbance but you're not likely to find him sunning himself near his peers if he can avoid it. Everyone wants to talk and offer their thoughts and opinions , things he doesn't care to hear about. Enganth especially and her overbearing niceness and tendency to smother with positivity irk him.

Jabreth is possessive of his rider when others are around. This person is his rock and his necessary link the world, he needs their focus to be solely on him thank you very much. When they are alone though Jabreth can be a bit awkward alternating between aloofness and a need for reassuring words from one of the few beings he trusts to tell things to him straight.

One of the few things Jabreth will care for is flying. It comes naturally to him and he will not hesitate to take to the skies just as soon as he is permitted. While he lacks stamina Jabreth is a prime example of the agility and speed that is common amongst blue and greens. He'll be only too happy to take his rider up into the air and show them how everything is better when it's just the two of them wheeling about and making sudden dives, feeling the wind skim across their skin as they cleave through the air.

Similarly Jabreth loves chasing greens for the sheer thrill of testing his flight skills. Oh sure it'd be nice to catch one but it is in these moments that his ego appears and he gets to show off, to mirror a more agile green's movements but exert a little extra strength into making the moves carry him further, closer and closer to catching his prize.

Jabreth is a dragon with a lot of potential and it will take a strong willed but patient rider to bring out the best in him. If he can be shown that he does matter and that the world can see him as more than just another old blue then there's no telling what he may one day be capable of. Perhaps more so than any other dragon in his clutch Jabreth's destiny lies in the hands of the one he chooses, only they have a chance to reach out and mold him into something new.

Jabberwocky

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

Why Me?:

Caelis is everything Jabreth is not or dislikes, she is filled with opinions, is motivated and friendly. He had quickly dismissed her like all the others who had dared to touch to him when he was still trapped inside his egg. Given some time to think things through though the stubborn blue came around and upon hatchin decided that he quite liked Caelis. She clearly sees the world through different eyes and mayyyybe Jabreth wants to know what it looks like to her.

Whether he understands it or not Jabreth needs someone like Caelis to guide him. It may not be the most balanced of partnerships but so much of what he may yet become depends on where Caelis can take him. Jabreth has things to offer in return for his rider's devotion but it will take time to unlock those secrets. In the meantime, she can be the bright ray of hope to his little cloud of despair.
