Rank and Position: *Quote: Personality: Gavin tries to keep up a usually happy or neutral front. He tends towards sarcasm and various sorts of witty remark both to those he knows and those he doesn't, to keep situations light with friends and associates, and to disarm strangers and feel them out. A cynic and self-claiming realist, he also claims to be difficult to persuade, and usually is, unless the one doing the persuading outwits him. His preference is to approach things first from his perspective to try to understand something, and if that can't be reached, he tends to be flexible to short spans of suppressing his own thoughts in favor of searching for another perspective. He tends to be set in his ways and beliefs unless you can show him tangible proof of whatever it is you want to convince him of.
Bio: Gavin was born and raised as an only child, regularly moving around thanks to a military parentage. He tended to make friends fast but forget them fast as well, tending more and more towards certain amounts of isolation or non face-to-face contact as he grew older. He never had any desire to join the military even though he grew up on military bases and surrounded by the influence, tending instead towards presence on computers. Not surprising, his college work was towards a degree in computing... Not that the work did him much good when the war hit.
Electronics the world over destroyed by nuclear fire or the EMP aftereffects rendering that work useless, he was the sort you would expect to die out in the wasteland of a world left behind. However, he survived the wasteland much the same way he survived the war. Ungodly luck and some serious skill at pulling out or cobbling together solutions to problems. Luck had allowed him to survive the nuclear fire, and creative construction, scavenging, and moving allowed him to survive the radioactive fallout. He happened to stumble on to other survivors, and a knack for picking out good supplies and stopping places for nights, made him a useful member of the small band. After scrounging weapons, he had a minimal knack for use of firearms, and quick adaptation to various sorts made him the odd man out for using guns, such as hunting rifles and other less common weapons for city carrying. The group joining others and forming the small settlement they now reside in put him among others, but he still stands out at least marginally for scavenging ability and healthy caution combined with boldness in various things, from scavenging nearly collapsing buildings to dealing with the occasional raider of either the settlement or the scavenging parties.
