Swamp was always running around, getting into all sorts of scrapes and adventures that left him not-quite-smelling-like-roses. In fact, he tended to end up smelling like the opposite, which he himself never really minded because it certainly proved he'd done something. Unfortunately, some of his family didn't seem to agree.

Which was why the little earth colt was frantically searching for siblings who did agree, or at the very least accepted that he didn't. He had taken to simply lurking outside in the bushes until he spotted his brother.

"Dabber! Dabber! Dabber!" the colt hissed to the unicorn, trying to keep his voice low.

The earth colt stayed put until his brother wouldn't have to strain to hear him. "Have you seen momma and mama?" he asked, a very distinct and unusual note of panic in his voice. There was only one reason why Swamp would act and sound this way...

Alright, there were a lot of reasons why Swamp would act and sound this way, but most of them involved dangerous conditions when one was in the water. Because he was on dry land and there was the sound of running water coming from the upstairs bathroom, it only meant one thing: "They want me to take a bath," Swamp moaned, burying his head under his front hooves.

"Can you keep a lookout for me?" He begged, his face still buried in his front hooves as if he could somehow press himself down into the ground. Which, apparently was something he was planning to do.

"I'm gonna dig a hole to hide in," he hastily explained, "But it's gotta be deep enough no one'll see me." Obviously, Swamp was better at finding things than hiding them. His brother really had his work cut out for him.

"You're awesome and if you ever need to use my hidey-hole you totally can!" the little earth colt declared before setting his attention at the task at hand. Digging and rooting around seemed to be something he had learned to do very well, except for the part where bit of dirt and clumps of it came spraying out into the air.

At the rate Swamp was going, Dabber might want to stand a little ways away or risk getting covered in dirt himself.

Swamp was too busy digging in the dirt and trying to get as deep into the ground as possible that he failed to hear the door opening. The earth colt himself was pretty quiet about the whole thing and might have gone unnoticed. Except for, y'know, the part where clumps and clods of dirt were fountaining up into the air from behind Dabber.

The pit was deemed deep enough for Swamp to successfully hide in! The earth colt smiled at his handywork, pleased as punch that he would escape the tyranny of bath time. Then it struck him that he'd been a little too enthusiastic about his escape attempt and had dug a little too deep.

Oh boy. "Psst, psst, Dabber," he whispered, unaware that his brother had company.

Swamp's brows furrowed at his brother's leg, he almost almost piped up in protest when he heard Latte's voice. He instead froze, though if the mare decided to side-step past his brother she would likely still find his tail sticking out of the hole like some sort of streaked cream flag. Hooves crossed as the earth colt hoped Dabber would be distraction enough that she wouldn't spot him.

Swamp Net heard his Mama calling him and made one last ditch (heh) effort to burrow deeper. But alas the jig was up and the earth colt was forced to emerge. "O-oh, Mama, Dabber, what are you two doing here?" he asked, trying to play dumb about their presence as he gave Latte a toothy grin. He may not have escaped the dreaded bath but he didn't want Dabber to get into trouble because of him.
