Shaddaling
I'm new and I want to build!

Name:Eli
Age: 45
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation:Straight
Craft/Rank: Weaver/ Master – Preferred medium is linen, preferred craft method is lace tatting

History: Eli grew up on a mid size farm in Cathay Hold, to a reasonably happy family of her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Her family mainly raised sheep and goats. Eli started causing trouble rather early, she always looked up to her grandmother Selena and wished to have an apprenticeship instead of a husband. She was disrespectful to her intended and at nineteen after causing such a rift between them ended up pregnant.
Eli used her pregnancy to her advantage, refusing the second attempt of arranging her to be wed to a dimglow drudge of a boy. Instead, she managed to get sent to Southern Boll, to quote, be her grandmother's problem. Selena accepted her happily and the older weaver pulled some strings to give Eli her apprentice.

Eli worked nearly three times as hard to show her worth, despite her status of a single mother. Selena had spread word that Eli was a widower. Eli was content to go along with her grandmothers fabrication. Brishen was born two months after her twenty turn and she doted on her son. It wasn't till her sister visited when her son was two that the lies were torn apart and everyone learned she had never had a husband. After nearly three months of arguments and snippy comments, Eli ended up with her sister's eldest, Romi under her care.

Eli raised both children and rose in ranks slowly in the guild till she was a respectable journeywoman position focusing on dressmaking and lace patterns. She caused strife among the other women of the hold and tended to have an acidic tongue towards her own fellow weavers, leaving her a bit ostracize. Selena passed away and instead of staying she moved on, traveling to Ista and met a rather distinguished if older married man. They flirted and an affair started. Phara was born a turn after and Eli didn’t bother with caring what others thought. She dug down, found apprenticeships for her niece and son, raised a daughter, and managed to get her masters.

Euclid was her idea. A new start, a place no one was going to care and perhaps a place for Phara. Eli argued with her lover to outfit them with supplies, Hazmath can only carry so much, and headed south for a better place. Even if she has to dig it out of the ground.

Description: Eli is a willow wisp of a women, thin, straight hips and nearly flat in the chest. Her greatest feature is her long perfectly straight platinum blonde hair, even if it is becoming more silver and white in age. Her eyes are brown and cool, judging everyone behind heavy lidded eyelids and long lashes and a fine net of wrinkles. Her hands are long and she has dainty feet. She is around 5'4'' and a hundred or so pounds. Her clothing tends to have very detailed cuff and collars.

Personality: Stubborn, Eli stubborn enough to break away from nearly her entire family and be the family pariah. She has ruined relationships with both men and women in her will to outlast them and caused rifts with her aging great-grandmother and her son, daughter, and niece. A lot of that had to deal with her seeing a married man, but also her refused to accept being told she is in the wrong.

Determined, Eli will get what she needs done and so help anyone that gets in her way. This drive has led her to design delicate intricate works of lace patterns, raise three children by herself, and still obtain a mastery.

Haughty, perhaps her biggest flaw, Eli has turned acting above them into an art of condescending superiority. It is all in little things, the tip of her head when considering, a purse of lips, and patronizing tone telling someone perhaps they should moo for attention if they are going to continue to pop out children like a broodmare. She may have been born on a ranch, but farmer? She is not.

Composed, Eli manages to keep a straight face even when cattily remarking on someone's clothes. From her son's broken nose to ignoring gossiping house wives, she is a chilly glacier of a women, serenely walking in freshly launder clothing. Eli keeps her clothing well repaired, neat, and her appearance clean. She keeps a sort of self-controlled, not resorting to yelling, slapping, or displaying emotions.

Self aware, Eli knows she can be a major b***h. She knows that if she had just went along with the marriage to the young idiot her parents set her up with, she could be leaving a normal life with five some children and an farm. She doesn't really care what you think, or if she hurt your feelings. If you all shut up and think before you talk, she can be a decent person to have a conversation with.

Loving, Eli really loves her son and daughter. She actually thinks those days she spent with the passing stranger and her resulting pregnancy and son was the best thing that ever happened to her. Otherwise she would be like her sisters, matronly with a brood of offspring and gossiping on the idiocy of her husband with other house wives. She isn't overly showy of affection, showing her love in small details such as paying close attention to those she believes warranted her notice, her son, her niece, or respect such as her Grandmother. She makes small presents or brings coveted items and sets them in a place to be noticed. She isn't rainbow showers glee but in her unobtrusive way she does show she cares.

Strengths: Single self-reliant mother with an eye for details and composed demeanor in the wake of panic.
Weaknesses: Cunning b***h who tends to judge first and apologize too late.
Other:

Firelizard details: Blue Pthahalo

Not the friendliest flit but handy in finding the occasional dropped needle.

Obviously if you come here you're going to need a base of operations. Describe your ideal workshop, you can use words or illustrations or both: The basement would be the living quarters, well protected by from the threat of thread. A room for sleeping quarters, separated between her and her daughter Phara, a simple washroom with shower, and a large hearth, with a flue reaching up through three stories to spread the heat. Stone walls, covered with fabrics and a stone floor. The ground floor would contain a large main room that houses the big equipment, her spinning wheel, and her loom both set away from the walls. A smaller room would contain the bobbins, hanks, and bundles of dyed thread. A set of small tables with special crafted tops hold supplies, a strip down the table tops is leather to hold needles when not in use. Strips of the center have been taken out to be replaced with boxes of various sizes that hold lace and knitting needles, and crochet hooks. A cluster of rods would hold bobbins, and book end like wooden rises would hold shuttles and larger tools in place. The attic would be used for storing raw materials, fleece, cotton, and flaw.
