Shalott didn't go about chasing trouble very often these days. She patrolled, certainly, and even sometimes with her husband but she didn't get into the fights she used to. That part of her passion for this calling had died well before he daughter was born. Now she existed only to comfort, guide, and nurture all of the new knights she came across. Well, any knight, really. She was a large enough presence now that not many were foolish enough to pick fights with her. Maybe not as large a presence as her Templar partner Camelot but large enough, she figured, since her fighting days seemed to be happily behind her.

Just now she was lying on a large tree limb in the middle of a wooded part of the park. It wasn't the most ladylike thing to do, especially in the cold with naked tree limbs not quite shading her form. Her cloak protected her from the chill of the air, at least, and all in all being able to look up at the stars was rather peaceful. The stars were lovely and the night was quiet, which was good because she'd had a teething baby for the past few weeks and it was driving her batty.

She felt the Page before she saw her, perking her ear toward the aura. The knight sat up from where she'd been lazily draped and sat properly on the limb waiting for whoever it was to come and find her.

"Stupid, impractical dress." She huffed as she tried to shake some of the bits of leaf and twig off of the heavy hem of her skirt, dropping her twig in the process. Eyes narrowing she stooped down to retrieve it, tucking it in her teeth before dusting herself off again. Taking the path through the woods had not been her brightest of ideas, but it had seemed right at the time without quite knowing why.

Luckily for her the attention she was drawing to herself wasn't of the negative kind because she obviously wasn't prepared for it.

Snagging one corner of her dress's hem she stood back up, tucking it into her belt to expose leggings and a functional pair of boots. If she could figure out which costume designer she was channeling through her magical stick she was going to find a way to request a few alterations.

"Takes some getting used to, doesn't it?"

Shalott had started in a skirt and progressed to the dress she wore now. After alerting Celliwig to where she was the knight gracefully slipped from the branch to the ground, hardly the biggest fall she'd ever made. Being powered was like that. She could leap up to rooftops with the proper halfway mark. She didn't do it often, though, because her skirt did tend to get in the way.

She gestured to her own full skirt and long cloak which usually had to be carefully negotiated in order to not fall directly on her face about ninety percent of the time.

"Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it eventually. Your costume might even change as you grow. Mine did. It tends to reflect the direction we're meant to go in."

She'd gone from a fighter to something more conservative and, in her own estimation, almost regal. She took that to mean she was meant to put the sword aside and try to help lead with her Templar partner.

"I don't think I've met you before. What's your name?"

"Reg --" She cut herself off, brow furrowing momentarily in a form of chastising herself for almost blowing her cover. "Celliwig, Page of Earth." It was so formal and goofy sounding that she had to remind herself that it was something like role playing; when she was dressed like this she was someone else, not herself.

"Not that I wasn't 'of Earth' before this whole thing happened." She made a gesture to her outfit. "I've been to space, but I'm definitely of Earth."

"Ah."

Shalott smiled at her near slip. She used to want to go by her real name when she first started until Camelot persuaded her that discretion was better. Now that she knew who she was she appraised the girl a little more closely now. She didn't mean to judgmental, she was just curious about her. She recognized the name Celliwig and how it corresponded to the Arthurian lore.

"It seems we are related. By lore, anyway. My name is Shalott and I am a knight of Earth."

She'd gotten comfortable with who she was now but it wasn't always so.

"Have you seen your wonder? I visited mine on my honeymoon."

That was a good day, a good memory. She'd loved being able to explore her wonder and Camelot with the one person she trusted most. It was important in this fight to have someone you trusted.

"You look a bit lost, truth to tell. Can I help?"

"I haven't been anywhere, really. I mean there was Space the one time, but that was really weird and I think I might have died in the process, and then there was the one time we went camping in an attempt to find Bigfoot..." It was obvious from her ramblings that Celliwig had not yet figured out that it was possible to travel anywhere or that her oddly bent mythical stick offered her any sort of abilities shy of a change of wardrobe.

"Lost is an understatement when it comes to all of this."

"You did?"

That first statement brought Shalott into sharp focus. It had been a couple of years now but some things a parent could not forget. Harmony seemed to have recovered since then and was now on her own in college but it was hard to let go of something that was so traumatic for the both of them. She'd been a wreck for the entire time her child was missing, unable to do a thing to help her. If she'd been a knight then at least she could have kept an eye on her, helped her.

"So did my daughter. She was taken to space and died and then came back. It was hard for the both of us."

The knight fidgeted a little, uncomfortable to be reminded when she'd done such a good job of putting it from mind. Trying to change the subject she brightened.

"Well, if you're lost perhaps I can help. Did you have any questions?"

"I did. It was so... Surreal. I think they called it the Surrounding. Is that... Is that like these Wonders that you're talking about?" Her brow lofted slightly as she looked to the older woman, looking for answers and maybe just a little bit of guidance.

"I was just a girl then, though. I mean, not that I'm not a girl now, but I wasn't..." She gestured at herself again, brow furrowing. "I guess... I don't know what I am. I know my name, but why did this happen? How did this happen? I didn't think I was an alien, like the others. I can't be one if I'm of Earth, right?"

"It's sort of the same thing. A wonder is where a knight draws their power. It's unique to each knight as the celestial body is to a senshi. The Surrounding is where they can gather, or so I've come to learn."

Truthfully, though she was in her third stage she didn't know a lot of senshi. She'd had run ins with a few of them on both sides but nothing lasting. Her main focus were her fellow knights so that made a certain sort of sense, she supposed. Shalott took a moment to really study Cellewig. The girl reminded her of how she used to be in her first few forrays. It was strange to think how far she'd come now. It seemed like such a short time.

"I don't think alien is the right word to use. We all have things in common, roots and ancestry. We all have a common purpose. If we spent less time worrying about what differences we have and more time focusing on the similarities this war might not be as bad."

She'd had similar questions when she started. All but the why. She'd practically begged to be a part of the war in order to protect her daughter. Somehow, for some reason, the universe had listened.

"You were ready. It was your destiny. Being called upon to be a knight is a, well, it can be a burden but it is one with a purpose. We are meant to protect and promote peace and it isn't always easy."
