On the edge of the A'D, Aludra lay on her stomach, watching the wind swirl tiny tornadoes of sand in the desert that surrounded the oasis. There was not a day gone by that she wasn't tempted to just run out onto the sand and keep going. Go off her memory of which way would lead her back to where she was born. The mountains. The hills of nothing but grass and trees. Instead of this continuum of sand. Was the oasis even advancing further into the desert? She couldn't be sure.

But, of course, her common sense always came back to her. That was a good way to get herself lost and killed. She wasn't a Nova, with a straight river to follow under the heat to take her back. There was nothing but sand. In all directions. With no signs of which way was what. Though she wanted to do as her mother said, she was still so alone here. How was she to achieve what her mother wanted? Yasmin might be the direct type, but Aludra wasn't. It was Yasmin who had let the King and Queen know of why her daughter was here. Aludra made no attempts to get into the good graces of the rulers. At least not on purpose. Scheherazade was fond of her. That she knew. And she of the Queen. The older mare acted like a mother while Aludra was so far from home.

Home would always be the place she was born. Not the one she grew up in. Her heritage might be linked to the sands. She, however, didn't feel a kinship to it like her mother did.

User Image Saafir had been quieter than normal over the past few months. He had new siblings, or, were they new? It was a blur to him at this point. Sadly, he had not taken time to get to know his own family as of late. There was something else on his mind. Something that took up more room for his thoughts than normal.

At times he would catch himself watching the river of sands wind about their vast playground without a care. In those times he often wondered what was beyond just that. This was all he had known his life and previously all he had been happy with. But now, now there seemed to be something missing in his life. It sucked the color from everything...

His family had taken in an outsider, a snow-white and silver mare. She was a sight to look at. More stunning than a desert flower... Perhaps it was her strange appearance? Saafir snorted, and continued to drift forward in this thoughts. Too distracted to even notice that thought of mare was right ahead of him.

He had yet to talk to her. Despite being busy with his own tasks (that he gave to himself) he never was able to. Words would flee his lips and leave his throat dry. It was not a pleasant feeling. Yet, it was? Saafir thought it best to avoid the situation all together and further his strange path to becoming a recluse.

Aludra was growing bored the longer she lay there. She wished to hunt down her friends. If they weren't too busy. That was difficult to say. Even checking on the position of the sun helped none. Adil anyway didn't like being on a set schedule and took training when he could. When he himself grew bored or things got too difficult with the family and he needed something else to focus on. Take his mind off it. There were times Aludra could pity him, others she couldn't. There he was, whining about his family and she was away from hers. The chances of her seeing them again were slim. Not even her uncle visited and he was a Nova! She knew she shouldn't be mad, but she was. How difficult was it to follow one underground river to keep your niece company? He must know how lonely she was, the only one of the family here.

But that wasn't fair. There were many reasons why she hadn't had a visitor or a message. Merchants might not have gone that way. Deneb might not know the way. There didn't seem to be many Nova. The only one she knew he could ask was Badr. Badr would help, she was sure. Depending if he had the courage to return to the herd after all the rumors flying around about him. The lies.

The mare snorted, got sand up her nose for the effort, and sneezed, causing more sand to congregate in the air before her muzzle. Raising herself to her feet, Aludra turned to go, contend on sulking somewhere else or seeing if she could find the bay Nova, when she realized she wasn't alone. Aludra stopped dead in her tracks, barely blinking, as if by doing so would completely hide her from sight. Not that he seemed to be paying much attention. She hadn't much interaction with this Prince, but she was sure he wasn't that arrogant to pretend she wasn't there. Scheherazade was always speaking so fondly of her second son.

She swallowed, fearing even that sound would attract his attention. She had never really spoke to anyone of the royal family alone, besides the Queen. Of course she had to say something. This was one of the Princes! One did not just stand there foolishly, hoping they were momentarily blinded by the sun and moved on.

Stepping forward, she bent her body into a deep bow, long forelock grazing the sands at her hooves. "G-good day, Your Highness. I ca-can leave if I am disturbing y-you."

At first all Saafir could do was blink in embarrassment to his own neglect of awareness. His mind drew a blank. She may as well have spoken greek just than. It was probably a good thing most of his face was covered right now, he wouldn't have desired the startled and blank expression on his face to be fully apparent, even if his eyes betrayed him.

"N-no no, please don't leave. I was in deep thought, I will depart if this is your- if you would desire your peace." He shuffled in as dignified a manner as he could muster. In the scramble he -almost- bowed back to the mare, catching himself before his head past a slight nod.

It wasn't the most dignified manner to behave and he was more than glad none of his family had been around to witness him acting anything but a prince. Though second born, he still had to maintain an image for his family.

"...Alurdra, correct?" Saafir added hoping to have at least gotten one thing right. That was a name he could not forget.

Aludra remained in her deep bow, the pink of her embarrassment blossoming slowly on her cheeks. With her forelock so long, she hoped it was hidden momentarily. Of course she couldn't stay bent for too long. It would look stupid, beyond even sucking up. Which she wasn't doing, as much as her mother wanted her to. Get into their good graces by any means she could, so long as it wasn't degrading to herself or offensive to them. That was all her mother had said about her 'mission.' Aludra, on the other hand, had done no such thing. She had socialized a little. Not very much. She felt awkward around the royal family, like they were judging her badly based off her mother's behavior.

As the Prince before her spoke, the mare's eyes moved upwards, trying to see him through the thick forelock, not wanting him to see the red on her face, but curious about the sound of his own discomfort. She always pictured the royal family as being confident. Not arrogant, but sure enough of themselves to know how to act in any social situation. Not to trip over their own words such as she had done. The thought of Scheherazade especially doing this was so absurd she almost laughed right now. A smile stretched across her lips and she raised her head, using the unexpected smile to her advantage. She might not have felt the courage on her own to smile.

Shaking her head, Aludra was quick to respond that company was not undesired. "I was just looking around and desired a rest." The oasis was fairly large, so she was glad this didn't make her come off as too weak. Even though she was. Strength had never been her strong suit, nor did she have an interest in learning. Sweating was gross. Muscles just didn't look right on a mare. But Aludra's problem was she wasn't strong in voice, either. Not like mother. She was stronger in voice than most stallion's were body.

The embarrassment intensified as her name came out of the Prince's mouth. She hadn't known she had made any kind of impression on them.

"Y-yes, it is."
