✯✯✯✯The Story Arc System✯✯✯✯
Here in Digimon Tamer Island we would like to place an emphasis on character growth and roleplaying. We believe it is healthy to have subsistence to your characters interactions when possible. However mass events become hectic power pissing competitions, so instead we have implemented the story arc system to keep you and your friends motivated, and to motivate you to work hard.
So what is a story arc? Anything with conflict and resolution can be considered to be a story arc. Some members may decide they want to literally save the world from some nefarious antagonist, while another may simply want to quest to pluck a flower from an island far away. The point is to have conflict and resolution. Some issue that arises be it Man verse Man, Man verse Self, Man verse Nature, or maybe even Man verse fate in some cases. The beauty of it is that you make the plot yourself. You do not need some admin coming in and telling you that your favorite town is being raided by digi-pirates, instead you and your pals can come up with your own rich story. This enhances your experience because you are involved from conception to completion.
Doing story arc can earn you special accommodations in addition to the joy from roleplaying with your group of people. Clubs will play a large part in this as with a story system, we would like to see different groups rise up in both the human and the digital world in order to help promote peace, or chaos. Depending on the goal of your group. Clubs can have their home base and missions to RP, so joining or creating a group can be a very gratifying experience. In addition to that you can gain points to upgrade your Digivice and make your tamer and digimon stronger.

✯✯✯✯Story Arc Level's✯✯✯✯
✯Level E - At this level, we do not expect much excitement. This is basically the same as free roam. Low plot level. Low pay out. This may be something like going to the pub to hangout with friends or looking for someones lost slippers. Think of these as those pesky quests where you have to go all over town delivering various messages. It may build up to another larger arc, but it is not much, and were not going to give you a ton of prizes for completing it.
✯Level D- Here starts the real grading system. There is a small chance of danger at this point. but at the same time, it should all be below your level danger. This is like walking into a forest of creatures which you only need to hit a few times for them to die. Or a simple transport or recovery mission. It would be embarrassing if your Digimon was forced to De-digivolve more than once.
✯Level C-This is the first quest that actually challenges you. A Level C quest should be the medium level quest. This will put your character at their average pace. You will need to use real strategy in the fights, and it is expected that you are taking a fair amount of damage here. There should be a small chance of having a Digimon get reverted to its tama, but it is likely they are not hurt quite that bad. Your character may really grow from these interactions. We may see them starting to break out of their shell. Really come into themselves here. The quest itself should be decently hard. Something to challenge your character to say the least. The risk verse reward pay out here is the best because you are not really in danger of losing, but you will get some decent reward points from this. I would think something like a quest were you have one rookie and most of your opponents were rookies but there might be a champion in the mix that for obvious reasons will give you a hard time.
✯Level B - Here is the challenging mark for a roleplayer. Quests at this level will be much more difficult. This is pushing your character to use those Digivolutions up his sleeve that he does not just get out every battle. At this level your interactions will be monitored by admins. There is a decent chance that you will have a Digimon take a hit so hard it Tama’s. It is even possible that your tamer could be in danger at this level as you fight more malicious creatures in the digital world. There is a trade off though. High risk means high reward. You can earn lots of points on a quest like this but is recommended that you don't go at this level alone. The Plot here can be very thick. lots of moving parts with a good narrator. Lots of fun for good roleplayers here. Just remember. there is large risk for those good rewards. And if we see you one hit killing anything at this point we will be having a talk and we may send in our own admin npc's to make a point. But more on that later. This quest I would think like maybe a group of rookies, could be you and you're friends or just you with a full team of rookies and maybe a champion or two trying to take down a bunch of Champions and an Ultimate or two, it's gonna be really hard and you probably wont be able to do it very easily. possibly also a pretty long quest.
✯Level A - So you are a suicidal psycho path huh? You want an epic quest of epic proportions. You want victory to come after blood sweat more blood and eyes that can cry no more? You want to watch your companions fight for their very life. You want to watch your own character as he is torn to pieces by enemies far above your pay grade. you want to be on your knees begging for a miracle from the Admin God's so that you can leave this arc with some semblance of dignity. This is a Level A Roleplay for a reason. Entering into this zone means your characters are in serious danger of being badly wounded or maimed . But Prizes there will be. We are talking about the mother-load. We are talking about enough points for multiple upgrades at once. We are talking about the 7 demon lords personally hunting you down and making it their goals to end your miserable rp life. In a Level A roleplay a moderator will narrate for you, this is non-negotiable. You can help come up with and steer the plot in your own way, but it is the narrator who is in control. And you better be ready to buy a gold plated Digivice for all the prizes you could earn if you win, which I doubt you will be. To start one of these quests, you must have completed 4 level C and 3 Level B quests already. With this quest think one rookie vs Mega difficulty... na not that hard, that's impossible, but anyways you get my drift, really, really hard!
✯Level S- Don't even ask, this is so hard it's basically gonna take the whole guild to accomplish!
✯Free Roam- This takes place in the designated Free Roam Threads, you can do anything you want here with in the constraints of the rp rules. You get no exp for these posts.

✯✯✯✯Penalization✯✯✯✯
Penalization happens when you start to act out in a roleplay. Because of the prize like nature of these story arcs, it is likely that some mod somewhere is watching what you are doing. This is for no other reason than to keep things in check. Don't be afraid. Well, don't be afraid unless you are breaking rules, or breaking roleplays. For example, if your character with only an agumon at it’s rookie stage kills a seadramon no problem, we may message you with a simple "hey, sorry you are not strong enough for that yet." Or if your war greymon decided he is strong enough to kill everyone in data city we may send in a few NPC's to teach him a lesson. Just remember that good roleplaying earns you prizes. Bad roleplaying earns you verbal warnings, and terrible roleplaying earns your character a good licking and will lead to the shut down of the arc. Be smart. Play to your strengths, and be aware of what you are capable of.
✯✯✯✯Narrators✯✯✯✯
A few times you may have heard me mention a narrator, or a roleplay admin. We will have a group of people who have the job of helping you. So you’re having trouble coming up with a new story for your roleplay group. Ask a narrator and they will be happy to give you the assist. They can do this in a few different ways. They can simply give you an idea for an awesome roleplay, allowing you and your crew to take it from there. They can come and narrate for you where they will control the NPC's and plot for you. Or they will bring one of their own characters in and player narrate for you, playing both a character and the NPC's and running the plot. Remember that every good roleplay has a narrator. So if you do not hire one of the ones on our staff, then one of the members of your story arc can do it.
Now a few of you are asking, what is in it for me? If I become a narrator, what do I get? Prizes can be earned for good narrating just as easily as they can be for good roleplaying. These points will be awarded by the RP Crew member. |
