She couldn't quite remember why she had originally decided that it would be a good idea to trek so far up the mountainside just to retrieve a couple of flowers. But then, these were some of her mother’s favorites, and she had been away from the flock for a long time now and felt guilty for avoiding her homeland. The blossoms from the white flowers that were only known to grow upon mountain sides like this one were well known to make a deliciously semi- sweet aromatic tea. Due to the flower’s location however, it came to be a sort of delicacy because not many other soquili were determined enough to travel up a mountain just for a nice cup of tea. This is exactly what led Eirene to questing up the large, unforgiving mountain path when she discovered that the trader, who normally supplied her, was out. Her mother would have considered her delicate compared too many of the other females within her clan… If only she could see her now! There was perspiration on her forehead due to the climb, and her sash had fallen down from around her face, to drape itself around her neck. The sword that cut into her top half only slightly pinched when she moved, and most of her other wounds had been stitched up since the last time she visited a healer. Luckily none of the fixes had come undone since then. It’s been a rather fortunate month, indeed.
Taking a deep breath, Eirene paused as she took a moment to take in her surroundings. She was at a point in the path where she actually had a bit of room to move despite the many rocks that surrounded her. It would be a decent spot to take a short break before setting off again. Her legs were becoming sore, and she knew that if she did not take a moment, that she would regret it later on when it came time to walk back down. Reaching into her sash, she unwrapped a small canister and set it between her hooves and removed the top. Grasping it between her lips, she tipped her head back and took a drink of the refreshing liquid that was contained within the flask. Sighing, she set it back down and wrapped it back up. Rationing wasn't one of her favorite things, but she wasn't sure if she would find water this far up. Her legs were still stiff, so she sat down, leaning against the side of the mountain and resorted to one of her favorite ways to fill the void of silence; singing.

Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings them true
Here is the place where I love you.

Smaug was growing rather irritated. Or... okay. Very irritated. So irritated that smoke was coming from his nostrils and his belly was glowing from the flames inside. He flicked his tail, slowly creeping himself down and into the gold deeper until just his nostrils were showing. He was growing tired of all the noise. He knew that the Ulun'Suit and Kalona that wandered around his mountain were keeping the Dwarves at bay, but for the love of Durin... Why the hell were they being so loud. The dragon slowly shifted, gold falling off his head and down the mountains of treasure. As the noises ticked by, he lifted his head fully out of the shimmering gold, and stared around his cavern. Nothing new was here, no one was coming into his home. Good. He slowly lifted himself, large claws spreading the treasure and shoving it farther down the piles. He moved as carefully as he could ( just so as not to harm his treasure ) and wandered toward the opening to his cave. His giant wings spread, beating for a few moments, before folding against his back.

There was no way he was going to get to sleep like this. Smaug huffed out a puff of smoke, before pinning his ears, his fangs bared. It was then that he thought he heard something; something soothing. Tilting his head, he glanced around and let his eyes wander over the mountain. What was that... Moving down the natural "steps" of the mountain, the dragon made his way to the base. He walked slowly around the giant structure, peering about curiously. What was this... This noise. Smaug huffed, his eyes flickering. As he rounded the base, he spotted something blue up ahead. Something that didn't match the base of his mountain. He glared some, but the sound was coming from the creature. And with it's noise, he felt himself growing groggy. It was then that he realized he would be able to sleep with the songs coming from the other creature killing out the noise of the other evil Soquili around.

"What a... lovely voicccce." He hissed, his voice low and dark.

Completely obvious to the audience that she had attracted with her soothing melody, Eirene completed the last verse of her lullaby through a yawn. It probably wasn’t the best tune for her to have chosen when she still had such a long way to go before she got to the best altitude to find the flowers, but it did the job of relaxing her spirit. Her legs felt much better, and she began to believe that she might actually be able to complete her journey in less than two days, something that a soquili without the benefit of her mother’s claws or her sister’s wings could be proud of. Sometimes she wished that she had the grace and balance that came with the claws that she had unfortunately missed when it came to her genetics. The majority of the females within her homeland possessed them but she had been born without. Instead, she put her energy towards keeping her own fetlocks well groomed and stylish. To this day she hasn’t met another Soquili with locks quite like her own. Taking a moment to straighten out her fetlocks, Eirene got back to her feet, making sure that everything was in place before moving to continue down the path. If she wanted to find the flowers before sundown, she would have to pick up her pace a little bit more.
Continuing up the path, Eirene couldn’t help but notice that the mountain was suddenly lacking in the natural sounds that had come with it before her break. The bird had quit chirping their own beautiful songs, and the insects weren’t scurrying about like they had been before. ‘Odd…’ Eirene thought, moving up the path. Maybe the altitude was changing the behavior of the creatures? She hadn’t been to a location so high up towards the sky before. As a mare without wings, it wasn’t often that she found herself some place like this. In fact, she hadn’t seen another soul since venturing up with far either. Of course, a mountain couldn’t have been the easiest place to make a home out of… Eirene surely wouldn’t ever want to live somewhere like this.

Smaug was intrigued. Very much so. His tail gave a slow flick behind him, the tip breaking blades of grass and destroying flowers. His wings shifted on his back, spreading out slightly and letting the small clawed fingers at the bend grab at different tree branches. His slit eyes locked on her, watching with a heated look. He would have her. She would be his personal song bird and he would ensure that she sang every night. And if she dared try to escape... his fangs bared slightly at the thought, sharp and deadly. His claws dug into the ground under him, and he lowered his head slightly to stare at her at a different angle. She seemed to be contemplating something, and then she was moving again. The dragon inched forward a bit, before licking his lips with his long tongue. His ears were perked, facing toward the mare with intent. She was going to be a delicious addition to his treasure.

Smoke seeped from his nose, rising up toward the sky and dispersing into the trees. He knew that the animals were scattering; fleeing the area that the stallion was around. He was a predator, a deadly one, able to take down most prey with little difficulty. And as she started to move, he started to hunt. He smirked slightly as he slid behind a bolder, and then into the trees, careful not to break any branches. He had to fold his wings in order to fit, but that was fine. If he could get to her side, get to an area where he could dig his claws in or trap her, then he'd be fine. He could get her, and he could drag her back to his caves. She looked light. He could probably fly with her locked in his large claws.

"Thissss will be good." He mused, chuckling low in his throat. He moved quietly forward, slipping from one area to another. When he spotted a bird up ahead, he bared his fangs, scaring the small creature away. He kept his eyes locked on the traveling mare, pondering how to approach. Fear? She would run, and he could chase. It made him excited, made the hunter in him thrum excitedly. But he couldn't. No. That wouldn't work. She could lose him in these trees. Ambush? That could lead to the fear part, and then she'd be gone. He frowned at the thought, shaking his head, his tail tip flicking and thumping a tree behind him. He glared back toward it, the noise could give him away, but he didn't care. He moved forward and broke from the tree line, easily able to be seen if she turned to look at him. After all, he was a large creature.

"Good evening, lovely little thing." He purred, grinning down at her.
