Caelia had settled with a few cookies when she heard her mother call for her. She looked up from her bird plushie then, which she had been busy making walk on the floor and chewed said cookie down before answered. "Coming, mama !"
It didn't take long to find her mother at all, since she was in her study. "What is it, mama ?" Her plushie, which had seen much better days, was hanging from her hand by one stuffed wing.

Cosine smiled as her daughter appeared in the doorway of her study. Holding the worn plush in her hand and looking up at her with big eyes she still looked so young. It made Cosine sad to know these days were likely to be numbered. "Would you like to go for a walk down to the beach?" She asked, picking up her cards and placing them into her bag. It was time, she had decided to teach Caelia a little about what she was to become, about the domain she would take on.

Caelia did not exactly register that this was meant to be a lesson - all she could think of was that the beach was awesome and she would be going there, which was certainly something she couldn't argue against at all. She grinned one of those huge grins of hers. "Okay ! Are we having a picnic ? We could ask Anima for sandwiches and things."
That would be fun, yes ?

Cosine smiled at her daughter's excitement. Yes, it was a lesson in disguise but also Cosine really wanted to spend some time with her daughter. Kyrie's sudden growth had scared her, she had no idea how long she had left to enjoy Caelia and Isidore's childhood. "Let's do that." Cosine agreed. It was not far to the beach but a picnic would certainly be nice.
A little while later, with a bag packed full of goodies from the kitchen Cosine led Caelia from the Pantheon and down the southern path that led to the sea. It would take them about thirty minutes to get there, or perhaps a little longer if Caelia wanted to stop and look at things on the way. "What's your favourite thing about the beach?" Cosine asked.

The trip would doubtless take longer than that, as it certainly was not in Caelia's habits to leave anything interesting be. Even now, they had come across a rather interesting flower, and the young goddess had paused to look at her before taking it off again, running to catch up with her mother again.
"I like the seagulls. They're really funny." She smiled up at her mother. "And the water is really pretty, too. What do you like best, mama ?"

Cosine did not mind stopping or starting at all. Her favourite thing about children was their curiosity and they hunger for learning. She was more than happy to answer their questions as best she could, naming flowers and bugs. "I like the sea, I love the sound of it when it crashes on the shore. And playing in the sand." She grinned at her daughter. "Can you understand the seagulls?"

Caelia giggled. "Of course I don't, mama ! They go SQUAAAAAAWK !" She was running ahead now, flapping her arms as if wanting to take off. The motion what somewhat ridiculous, especially since she had wings of her own.
Though she did stop and turn around not too long after the urge had overtaken her, tilting her head upward to look at her mother as something had occured to her. "Do you, mama ?"

Cosine smiled as she charged off down the path pretending to be a bird and swung the picnic basket by her side, strolling along after her. When Caelia stopped and asked her her own question she looked off to where the seagulls were circling over the sea. "No, I can understand crows, but no other birds. I am number, the numbers speak to me and tell me things." She raised an eyebrow.

Numbers could talk ? That was certainly something Caelia had never considered before. "I've never heard numbers say anything." But who was she to say they never did, especially since mama heard them ?
"What do they say, mama ?"

"Well, that's because you are not a number deity." She winked and started down the winding track that led to the sandy beach the tide was out, leaving an expanse of wet sand where sea birds wandered looking for dinner.
"They say all sorts of things. About life and about people they have meanings and power. Like the number Two, it means balance and happiness and joy."

Oh. Well, that certainly explained things ! They probably had all sort of fun things to say, too.
Caelia was more jumping down the path than walking it, but this was not far from the usual at all. When she was at the bottom, she watched the birds, allowing Cosine ample time to catch up with her daughter.

Cosine took her time following after her daughter, there was no real rush after all. When they finally reached the beach Cosine would set the picnic basket down and pull out a rug to spread on the golden sand. "Do you know what Augury is?" She asked, taking a seat on the blanket and crossing her legs.

Caelia helped spread the rug then sat as well, little legs crossing much like her mother had done. Upon Cosine's question, her expression turned thoughtful. Many people had tried to explain this to her, really, but what had she truly understood of it ?
She knew, of course, deep down, because it was what she was, and what she subconsciously did every day, but how to put that into words ? "Uh..."

Cosine watched her struggle for a moment and smiled. "When you see the birds, do you ... hear things, not physically so much but in your mind?"

"I don't really hear things." Caelia admitted. Did that mean she was doing it wrong ? I just... feel things. Know things."
She had no idea how to easily explain it, to be honest. "Like... Depending on the birds and what they're doing. Usually how they're flying. Or how they're singing. I just... know things when they do that sometimes. Like, if something good's gonna happen, or if things are gonna be okay... Or if they're not gonna be okay." She hadn't stumbled upon the latter all that much, but those filled her with a little bit of dread. What was she supposed to do then ? Sometimes she couldn't even tell for who such things were intended. Her ? Not always, she had found.
