 The foal trotted along happily in his father's wake ever since leaving the strange place, just as unconcerned with the world as little foals tended to be. It made no bother to him that he was leaving a place such as the Kuze shrine. Where darkness lay so thick shadows constantly moved in the corners of your eyes. Where nightmares became real if you weren't careful. He was happy enough to leave such a place, but there was no skip in his step that wasn't already naturally there. Nor was he saddened by the fact he was leaving a mother and sister behind for a new world he knew little about. He didn't dwell on the fact he felt nothing. No kinship. No worry. It was as if he were leaving behind an empty house instead of a house with living, breathing female family members. The only thing that replayed in his mind was the words from his adult sister, a short time before he left.
"You do not belong here. Be sure you do not get left behind when your kin leaves, mm?"
Meant as a threat, it had only scared the foal for the duration of the very short conversation. But every now and than on the journey he thought about it. He guessed she was right. He didn't. At least he never felt the need to stay or anything. The shrine had always felt hostile towards him. Like it didn't want him there, anyway. No matter. That bothered him as much as the orange mare's words did. Frightening while he was there. Barely a though while he was gone.
When the company stopped, Taranis took the opportunity to look around. It wasn't much different from the woods around the shrine, but who knew. He might find something different.

 A pale tan filly trotted happily around her herd's borders. Though she should probably practice walking quietly she thought suddenly. Foals were often bait for more dangerous things she'd been warned. Why monsters liked foals and mares Evelyn didn't understand not yet at least. The forest was thick and some what spooky but she was not afraid. If something simple like this scared her how could she become like dad or Mom? She'd make them proud.
So the filly snuck away from her family just for a bit. She'd go back before they noticed. Not that she'd be allowed to stay long, her dad always seemed to catch her, it wasn't fair. She'd never get to do something impressive before he came looking for her. Still she loved exploring but knew well enough not to go too far. Lots of dangerous thinks lurked about in the dark. Not that it was dark right now which is why she ventured a little further than usual.
Her ears perked as she could hear someone coming the hoofbeats didn't sound very heavy, and eve couldn't help but be curious "Hey who's there?!" she demanded doing her best to sound much older than she was.

"Hello!" Taranis answered back enthusiastically, unconcerned by letting everyone in a given distance know he was there. Caution wouldn't yet come to the foal until he was older. For now the world was one big playground he couldn't wait to get at. From the direction of the voice he took off at a trot, a broad grin already on his face. He came up to the other foal quickly, using his nose to find her. Not thinking about what her parents might say if they were nearby.
"Hi!" he said, again, getting more excited at finding another foal his own age who wasn't his brother. Who had remained back with father. Or who also wandered the woods, Taranis wasn't sure. Nor cared at the moment. When they stopped, this was his time. He could do as he liked. "I'm Taranis. We're passing through on our way to my father's herd. Who are you?" While he waited for an answer, he couldn't resist the urge to dance about on his white hooves. When he looked down, he noticed she, too, had white hooves. It looked pretty and graceful against her pale body fur. Shaped like his father's was. She must be half what he was, as she lacked the horn that his father had sitting on his forehead. He, however, took after mother. There was nothing special about the way he looked. Unless you counted the pink hair.

Oh! It was another foal, he looks kinda funny but with a bright pink mane like that how bad could he be? She was kinda hoping for a monster's butt to kick but another foal her age besides her brother was nice he was always so quieeet. And he never wanted to play when she did. Oh Maybe Taranis could play a game or something with her. Eve grinned.
"I'm Evelyn Rose Mariah Bennet, I live here in the Night hunter herd!" she said proudly announcing her full name. Her grandiose name had come from her mother after all. "You can just call me Evelyn." she grinned "You want to play a gaaame?" she asked eagerly. His appearance meant nothing to her in any form, she didn't know anything about his mother or the history between their families.
Besides, he looked like fun, she wanted to prance around with him, her dainty tail flicked back and forth. The filly bounded up to him "Your hair is so bright, It's pretty!" she said innocently.
"I have only my brother to play with," she explained taking a few steps back eagerly awaiting an answer.

Tara stopped dancing when she spoke, inclining his head forward just a little bit, ears shifting forward.
"That's a pretty name. Mine is only Taranis." He seemed to remember there being a family name he left behind with his mother. His sister carried it, as did his elder sister who had lived there alone for so long. Why weren't boys allowed to stay? He would need to ask his father. If he remembered.
"Night Hunter herd? What's that? We're headed towards the Shadow herd, me, father, and my brother." The dancing of the hooves began, again, until he was circling the little filly. "I have a sister, but she stayed with mother. What kind of game?"Ice_Dragon_Demon Lame Tara, my mind is always drowsy after allergy fits.

"Taranis," Evelyn mused over the name for a bit it was interesting, and kind of otherworldly. A good hunter name, Eve thought her's was too pretty; no one was going to take her seriously when she was bigger. They would take her quiet brother Ashton seriously. "It's a good name" she said finally with a hop
"It's a herd we hunt creatures that mean to do harm to other stars," she explained proudly. "Shadow herd?" She'd not heard of that Herd yet, maybe they were ninjas! Oo! They could help and be friends with her herd wouldn't that be neat? They could be friends forever then, she didn't have any foals to play with her age other than her brother too.
Though "Oh I'm sorry about your sister I bet she would have been just as fun to play with too."
Eve Hopped up and down again as Taranis circled her she grinned. "It's like hide and seek Tag where you try and scare the one seeking!" She explained "one of us goes out into the forest and hides, while the other seeks, the hider needs to try and scare the seeker! and if the seeker catches the hider before and doesn't get scared it's the hider's loss." She breathed, trying that in one breath was hard.
"Soooo Interested?" she asked eagerly awaiting his answer.

Taranis stood there nodding his head appreciatively. He supposed he liked his name. He was named more for his father's side than his mother's, though he couldn't remember either his mother or his sister's names well anymore. He thought there was a K in there. Lots of K's.
Harm to other Stars? That wasn't good. He was still very young in the world but already he knew he didn't want to cause harm. He just wanted to have fun. And have the rest of the world have fun with him. Life was too short to be mean, right?
"I actually don't remember well," the colt responded, squeezing his eyes shut as if he would summon the memory to his mind by physical force. When his eyes grew sore, he opened them, focusing them back on the pale form of the filly with him. He looked all around him, checking for the yellow shapes of his family in the distance. They wouldn't miss him for a few minutes, would they?
Turning back around, he gave a few little jumps to show his enthusiasm over the idea. "How do you pick who goes first?"

"My name's so girly," she groaned "any mean star is just gonna laugh at me." she mused out loud all of a sudden before she looked at him sadly for a moment then cheered up thinking after a moment. "Maybe one day you two will meet again?" she said hopefully. Prancing around him. He was going to be fun to play with. she flicked her tail casually as she paused. That was a good question, Ashton didn't really... like to play as much as she did. She mused.
She was glad to see his enthusiasm as well. She gave him a beaming smile as she continued to think. "Um... "Well... What about a race?" she looked hopeful and started running happily around her new friend. She nudge him playfully as only a child would do. She hoped he lived around here, or close to where sher family was going. She thought she might want to play with him all the time.
"Unless you have a better idea?" she gave him a little grin.
