Just on the other side of their little nesting sight shrouded only marginally by a protruding chunk of mountain Sui was having his own sneaky attempt at finding a snack. It was a little difficult to do anything alone with three siblings, two parental figures, a small nesting sight and everyone always having space for a nibble of something. It was healthy not to always eat they were told, their parents bringing back ample amount of food but for the growing choco's it never seemed enough. Having nothing to compare too left most of them doing these little digs whenever possible and you bet it got competitive!

Sui had noticed when they were all active little wiggling things tended to appear, he knew he wasn't the only one because it then tended to end in a pile of feathers and beaks all aiming for one gulp of pink slimy snack. So today he was stamping his hooves trying to re create the situation he'd seen them before, he didn't really think his siblings would notice but then he was still a young chick.It was only when he heard the call of one of his sisters did he stop and look up almost hawk like focusing straight on her location and bounding off, she found something and he 100% felt entitled to have it.

Chick.... Children... Foals.. whatever they were they were apparently his. As the black Chocobo held his perch for anything moving in the grass bellow he considered how exactly he'd ended up in this situation. It had all happened too quickly it seemed because he was most oblivious till IT happened then his acclimatization to having the two of them turned to six.... whoops. Actually it was her fault.. he was fine on his own maybe if he'd been a bit more forthcoming with his feelings and been more vocal he'd still be a lone bird.

There. Something the size of his hoof was making a bee line through the dense blades of grass bellow and with his target locked he swooped down and claimed it. A swift flick of a hoof stunned it long enough to grab it up in his beak and he was in the air headed 'home'. Using the short flight to consider how exactly he felt now about this he couldn't really come to any solid decision, he was going with the flow it seemed. Fear, was it fear? Yes it was niggling at the back of his mind with this new responsibility, lucky his now mate, as he was informed, had been clued in to what they were supposed to do. As long as she could just tell him what to do they'd be fine and coming into visual he aimed his landing to drop the rodent with it's very small grasp to life left to run around for the chicks to play with. The exercise was good again he was told, help them catch there own prey but start them off slow... so a almost deceased mouse running in a circle from suspected brain damage would do. He hoped.

Xiaodan Blade squints his eyes in sleepy irritation as he was getting jostled and bumped into when two of his siblings starts to fight over something while he was busy trying to nap. He tucks his wings firmly against his body and tucks his face in his wings but after another bump and loud disgruntled wark from Tieoh, he gave up on trying to nap. He yawns and watches them when they moved off, following the beetle with interest before he scrambles up to his hooves. When his father landed with a better snack, he cocks his head to side then suddenly leaps out of the nest darting toward it.

He is fully aware that one or both of his siblings will go after the same snack and the full out brawl would happen between all of them. "MINE!!!" He warked the claim out loud while running toward the rodent with his wings flapping eagerly. He hears his sister yelling to her brother and familiar pounding of hooves behind him and he suddenly leaps forward, in hope that it will gain some ground between him and his sister along with more ground closer to the yummy snack that continues to go around in circles.

Teioh's kick landed, a sqwark of his own disgruntled feelings about the words and physical contact escaped and loudly in protest. Distracting him only for a moment before he was back in the game and he played to win! Ruffling his feathers he lunged forward and found himself missing both his sister and the beetle as Teioh seemed to abruptly move, "HARK!" He called as he shook the dirt away from his eyes and frantically searched for the little black thingy "MineMineMine!" He called out without an ounce of grace as he caught sight of it whilst at the same time hearing the same sister basically giving it to him.

Whilst suspicious he took his opportunity and swooned in and claimed his prize with a crunch. In the same manoeuvre turning to catch sigh of his father that only meant.... "WAARK!" He yelled in displeasure, upon the realization he was now at a severe disadvantage for the bigger prize, having been too engrossed from claiming the little victory.

Still he wasn't a quitter... and swinging around he scuffled along and threw himself in for the competition for the small rodent who at least was a bit more visible than the tiny beetle. Sui had his life ahead of him yet he knew this early on he had to see things through to the end, win or loose otherwise it irked him for the rest of the day at least. Also that he didn't like being dirty... but preening would have to come later, right now his gaze was locked and loaded... all he had to do was secure it before his sister and brother.... if the chick had any clue about profanities he might of slipped on at even more competition.

Just watching the scrabble made him feel tired, he always considered himself to be a fit individual, in good health yet at this present time he was very glad he wasn't -that- young and wasn't required to fight for his food. Ion would hunt something later for himself when the pumped up hyper energy of the foals had abated... if it ever actually did, they slept sometimes... apparently at different times.

Rolling his eyes he found a spot in the corner safely away from most of the dirt being flung all and every way possible to let them fight it out amongst themselves. Knowing he'd need to conserve energy to hunt again before too long and probably to do a little training, he didn't mind that too much. Though the black bird wasn't accustom to 'instructing' or so much as having to talk as much, it hadn't really occurd to him before he'd begun that they wouldn't innately know everything. Especially as Blade was intently trying to stop looking into his past, it just hurt too darn much and he had so much going on in the now that's all he had the emotional capacity for.

With a nod he greeted the return of Raika, the young'un that looked so similar to him, not that he could really have any deniability in father ship. In Blades terms it was a plausible greeting anyhow, and of all of them he knew she'd understand most from all the four small feathered bundles that where now his life.

Teioh let out a victory cry as she felt her hoof connect with her brother and she laughed at him as she dove after the mouse. However, what was once a competition between two became the four siblings fighting for the prize and this made the little lyra bird even more determined to snap up the glory and the meal.

She ducked into a narrow space between two of them only to have a rather sturdy wing smack her in the face. Teioh stumbled over her own hooves and skidded forward using her face to break her fall. She shrieked in annoyance and shouted at Xiaodan.

"GO FIND YOUR OWN. I saw it first, bird brain!"

Raika dashed by her as she forced herself back up on her hooves.

Teioh snorted and pawed at the ground with her front hoof as she studied, just for a second, her three siblings going round and round in circles. Once she saw an opening, she dashed forward with a victorious wark and snapped her beak at the half dead mouse only to snag it by the tail.

She lifted it up from the ground, proud of herself as it dangled from her beak and then...it fell.

The tail she had been holding onto had become seperated from the rest of the mouse and now the grand prize, the one she had been so close to catching was on the run again.

She swallowed the tail with pride before swooping her head down, trying to keep any wayward beaks from the rest of her meal.

Still with his head in the game Sui dodged this way and that to gain some sort of advantage but missed his mark never being able to gain said upper hand in any way. Even though his eyes were hawk like he was just too young and in the commotion to inexperienced to come out a victor as his other siblings joined the fight to come out on top. It was hard to keep an eye on three siblings but also your prey and as such he abandoned his vision on his siblings to just focus on in the rodent. Thinking that was the most important prey he dived in just as his sister scooped it up, narrowly missing his opportunity and feeling his chance was lost.

When it was dropped however it took him a few moment to get back in the game then he lunged at the creatures running it's circles without thought, without calculation. All he'd seen was his sister scoop it up by the tail then it fall to the floor, he got his beetle before, how gracious it would feel to steal the big prize from her! However as his beak connected with the small form he took what he's grabbed when eased back to enjoy the spoils. It wasn't till he was a few steps back, head in the air and gulping down his victory did he realize how little he'd 'won'. To him it felt like just an ear or eye or such like and by the time he opened his eyes he knew deep inside the game was over, his sister got a tail, he got an ear, and the other sibling had been distracted momentarily, however short it was enough time for one to swoop time and gain the victory. Upon realizing this he threw his body in full force but honestly had already admitting to himself there wasn't much point aside from show. He was a show boy though and he had to take his chances... even if his brother and sister had missed the opportunity!


Ion had been attempting to ignore most of the commotion going around him, well he was keeping the corner of his eye on them but mostly it was just for liability. If one of them did actually get hurt he'd be able to say he was paying attention, even if for the most part it was a blur of feather's. A nice blur mind you, he had to appreciate that Surusumi and his own colours had complimented each other very nicely, their chicks where rather handsome. Was that pride? Yes, yes it was and resisting the urge to smile he also admired how ferociously they fought even just for food, they were strong, mentally at least, physically would come as they grew.

Keeping his thoughts concealed he concluded that perhaps having four combinations of himself and his mate wasn't so bad, they had a lot of potential. The two adult chocobo's having training in experience in the two main fields they were used for back in their home world. Treasure finding and Racing, and only tell which would excel or show in interest in how much of each different aspect, he wouldn't admit it but he was looking forward to finding out.

With a flick of his ears he heard the approach of his mate and even made the effort to turn in her direction, without moving however. He stayed in his corner away from the winding down competition for the rodent knowing that it would be over soon. However the return of their mother usually meant she'd be bringing something and that all the commotion would be starting all over again. Not that he usually cared what people would think but he felt she'd understand if he didn't get up on her arrival... he'd need to conserve his energy.

She shook her head, smiling. She also had a lot of energy, but sometimes she wondered how the young ones had so much wriggling in them. They never seemed to tire of tussling with one another over minuscule or nonsensical things. Fighting for food she could understand, though why they didn't share with one another was a mystery to her. She looked over to her mate and nudged him with her nose. "They sure are boisterous today," she said. She tore off a chunk of rabbit and began to fill her stomach while they had a moment to themselves.




Raika pranced around happily, circling the other three, who seemed to still be competing with each other for a morsel she couldn't see. Again, one of them slammed into her, this time sending her flying toward the ground with a thump. Luckily, she didn't land on anything hard and only had the wind knocked out of her. She jumped back up and entered the foray without a thought, for roughhousing in response to being knocked over seemed completely natural to her.

Deep disappointment clouded Sui as he came up and saw no sign of the mouse, instead a very happy sister with a big ol grin of pride on her face "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaark!" He voiced his annoyance at having lost the final tally as to who got the most of what. Sure he'd gotten the beetle and a eye or ear but Teioh was waaaay ahead in total volume consumed. He did let out a laugh though upon realising they were both filthy and on the ground, it may be competitive but it was also quite fun every time they tousled about.

Before he could realise the rabbit food had also been dropped and two siblings where fighting over it he was inspecting his feathers. Pushing up on his hooves he slid up to a standing position and franticly started preening himself of some of the mud and muck he'd acquired in the scrap. Freezing for a moment his head craned round to the new tousle going on between his other brother and sister. Squinting he considered joining in and with a super quick decisions he saw an opening, swooped in under both and with a bone crunch snapped a leg off to the other side where he curled down. Protectively guarding his leg for the few second it took him to start digging into it, away from Teioh and the two siblings still going at it. Sui was far from relaxed and would peck and fight off anyone after his leg, though at the speed he was consuming it he wouldn't have to worry for long and could settle to preen before the next batch of excitement ensued.

"Just today?" Was his blunt reply, every day thus far to his estimation they'd been boisterous, whenever anything of any vague sort of competition happened they all flared up. Hell even when they were preening it was furiously with a burst of energy he really wished he could remember having from his youth. From the moment they arrived it seemed the fought over the warmest spot, food and just about anything. Already admitting to himself he was proud of them for such characteristics didn't mean he felt like he had the energy to keep up with their every growing resources of energy.

There was the briefest flicker of a smile, only for a moment before his expression became neutral again. He did enjoy the physical perks of having a mate, he couldn't deny it but he wasn't about to let it show. With a sudden flick of his wing it came down over Surusumi's form as if it just happened to land there with no intention from him at all. Blade wasn't good at returning affection, he was still rather awkward and uncomfortable about the notion of being loved let alone showing it back. Watching their youngsters he knew they wouldn't have the last rabbit to themselves for long and leaned in to share the adults one. If they hadn't finished theirs before the youngsters he was sure they'd come and harass them for theirs.
