If she were being honest with herself, it had not been the sudden storm that woke her in the middle of the night and kept her up half the night, but it was a pretty good excuse. And it was certainly one Abbi would use with rampant abandon, even if she didn't quite have someone to ask after her sleeping habits. But the storm had awoken her the night before and made sleep virtually impossible, as well as made any attempts at outside activity totally out of the question. The teen had planned on doing a bit more training in the sparring arena, especially considering her lackluster battle performance as of late. With all that rain and wind though? Not even being considered. After trying to continually coax herself back into falling asleep to no avail, Abbi finally drug herself from her bed and stood by the window for a long time, making herself miserable by watching the rain. It let up after a bit and the teen dressed with haste. Her customary pigtails were forgotten in favor of a melancholy braid over one shoulder along with drab colors and thick thigh high socks to keep her warm. After that it was a quick run to the library for some books, then a quick run back. A bit of plastic found on the beach had been brought along to wrap the books in so they would sustain no water damage, which had done quite well in the wind and rain, but the second Abbi stepped back into the dorm building it slipped off.
This normally wouldn't have been so big a deal, except it had been blown about in the last gust of wind before the door had closed and skittered down a hallway. With a sigh, Abbi followed after it, shifting the books around in her arms before she finally snatched up the plastic. Another sigh left her before she stomped down the hallway toward what she thought was her room, but when she got to where her door she should be, it was not her door. For a long time the small girl blinked at the door that was not her's before she turned back to face the hallway, a stack of books in her arms and her face streaked with rain water. "I'm lost."

Ian was most definitely not a fan of the storm, that was for sure.
For one thing, his window had smashed sometime during the night thanks to a particularly ferocious gust of wind that had shattered the glass and sent icy rainwater sweeping through his room on the floor of the Deus dormitories. Ian had used a rather extensive variety of swear words and had spent most of his night cleaning up the mess and taping curtains over his window instead of cuddling with his boyfriend like he'd expected to.
At this particular moment, however, when Shy was back in his own room, Ian was meandering down the hallway, looking for more tape, when he ran into someone unexpectedly, stumbling backwards a few steps. He peered in front of him, around a stack of books, to find a vaguely familiar girl behind them.
"Hey," Ian said, smiling at her. "You okay? You need help with those?"

Only one step had been taken out into the hallway itself before someone very tall collided with her. A mild squeak escaped the girl as she hurriedly clutched the books to her chest in hopes they would not fall to the ground. Unfortunately she did not consider how very otome that would have been to let the books fall so the tall, undoubtedly handsome, stranger would have to help her, but well, Abbi wasn't so sure playing life like an otome game was working in her favor. Instead, she scrambled and fretted and ended up looking like she was bracing for more impact rather than recovering from one. The initial "hey" made her open one of the eyes she had squeezed shut, her gaze searching for the person until she found... Their chest? Blinking, Abbi craned back to look up and see the face of who had run into her. "H-hey..." She greeted, trying to place the familiarity of the person. One hand went to tuck some hair behind her ear and the top three books tumbled from her arms. Good job Abbi. "Well, originally I was gonna say 'no'... But uh... Now I kinda have to say 'yes'." That at least made her laugh a little before she bent down to begin collecting the books. "So uh... You look real familiar... Did I meet you before?" Not that she was bad with names, mostly it was just that she'd met a lot of people and all...

Ian squinted at her, trying to place the brightly colored hair and the voice as though he might be able to figure out where he'd seen her before. In the dream world that he had shared with Shiloh - she was vaguely familiar from there, but it was just a passing glance, not much more.
He gave a little laugh and bent down to scoop books into his arms. "You might have, I'm sure you've seen me around, since I'm pretty sure I've seen you around," said Ian with a smile. He straightened, taking a step back, and gestured for her to lead the way.

Oh ok good, she wasn't crazy and hadn't just seen him around and thought they had met when they hadn't. That would have been terribly embarrassing, especially considering Abbi was still a little woozy on names and faces sometimes. But hey! She maybe might know this guy! "That's good... I'd hate to have been the only one and sound like a crazy stalker chick." Well now that she did sound like one, the girl flushed and hurriedly grabbed the last book off the floor. Now that she had all of them in her grasp save for the ones in the taller man's arms she stood back up, unabashedly staring at him in hopes that scrutinizing him would remind her where she knew him from. Her mouth screwed to one side as she considered it some more, one finger jabbing into the air suddenly with an idea. Of course this meant that she left half of her book pile without any support so the top few books toppled back down, but it was something that didn't bother the teen. "Did you participate in the Hunger Games Trial thing?" The lightbulb that had gone off over her head dimmed in her face and Abbi shook her head a moment later. "No, that wasn't it..." The finger pushed into the air came back down to curl around her chin and think. "Maybe the Halloween party? I didn't go to any other parties... And maybe I saw you during the New Years... Thing." The free hand waved lightly as if shooing something off. But yes! Introductions! Trying to be Adult and Assertive and half because she needed something else to do besides pick up books, the girl stuck out a hand between them for him to shake. "I'm Abbi! Nice to metcha! I've been here since the last day of August! You used to things yet? Having a good time or yanno... As good a time anyone can have around here?" She laughed at that, but didn't bother to correct the sentiment.

Ian's smile widened a little; she seemed friendly enough as it was - and strangely, her personality - which was a little goofy, and a little bit shy - somehow reminded him of Shiloh in certain ways.
Of course, everything reminded him of Shiloh, so perhaps his judgement wasn't really the best. Ian stooped down and scooped up the remaining books, gathering them up into his arms and then straightening again, giving the girl a slightly curious look, head tilted a little to the side.
"Yeah, uh," he said with a small, vaguely sheepish laugh. "I did. Not quite my finest moment in life, lemme tell you that. And I was at the Halloween party too, though not for very long. As for the New Year's...thing...well..." Ian lifted a hand, scratching the back of his neck.
He hastily changed the subject. "A pleasure, Abbi," said Ian with a smile, and he grasped her hand, a little awkwardly beneath the books. "I'm having as good a time as any," he added with a playful wink. "Can't say much about the food or the threats, but at least the people here are pretty decent company."
There was a small pause.
"Mostly."

Unaware of the connections her hopeful new friend was making in his head, Abbi only smiled up at him, a bit dopey but still something happy. It disappeared a moment later to be replaced with a look of surprise, blinking big blue eyes up at him. "Oh! You did? We must not have gotten put into the same area or else you uh... You would have known..." The girl forced out a laugh that was a paltry excuse for cheer before she shrugged. "You were at the party too? Huh... What were you dressed as? I was the one in the bear hoodie..." Now she really laughed, hugging the books to her chest. "I wasn't there long, really... Finn made me come and then Ripley made me leave." The idea that Ian might not know the two men didn't at all cross the girl's mind, she just assumed that most people on the Island were quite familiar with each other. That, of course, wasn't entirely logical since she was meeting someone she didn't know but well, he was pretty and nice and therefore Abbi didn't care. "So New Years was weird for you too!" The hand that had shook with Ian's stuck back out at him, pointing excitedly. "I think everybody had something weird go on! What was weird for you?" Was that too much to ask? Probably, but Abbi didn't care. Abbi did what she want. But she laughs at his wink, flushing and jumping a little just because she wasn't used to it. "The food is so-so, but sometimes the people are nice. You find anyone nice in particular?" She looked very interested on that point, much more cheerful than before she'd run into him.

"A skeleton," said Ian with a laugh. "It was a pretty pathetic attempt at a costume, though, I didn't put much effort into it."
The "costume" in question was currently stuffed into the bottom of Ian's dresser, along with a certain duck hoodie from that rather productive night. He cleared his throat, hiding a grin, and said good-naturedly, "Oh, so you know Finn and Ripley, do you? They're good buddies of mine, the idiots."
The term was said with endearment, Ian shifting the books in his arms a little to try and keep them balanced. "Everything here is weird," he corrected lightheartedly. "But yes, New Year's was...well, let's just say I'm not a fan of weird shared consciousness...things." He laughed, though it was just a little strained. "I prefer to stay in the present universe."
Abbi's flush was cute, and it sort of reminded Ian of a puppy. "The people here are nice, as long as you're nice to them - at least the majority of them are, with a few exceptions," he added, and there was a mischievous look in his eyes as he said with some amusement, "I've found lots of people in particular, though I'd have to say my boyfriend is the nicest of the lot."

"Spooky scary skeletons, and all?" She asked with a grin, surprised to have found herself warming up like this despite the rain and the fact that this was a relative stranger. He was so friendly, so why not let her mood improve a little? For a little bit longer Abbi smiled in a hopefully cute but definitely dopey manner until he mentioned being buddies with people she knew. The smile turned excited only to flash down into a frown as she lifted a very serious pointer finger into the air. "Finn is an idiot. Ripley is not at all. He's super nice and smart and... Cool." There was a very decided effort to forcefully cut herself off from the long and practiced explanation of how esteemed the man was in her opinion. Instead she turned her eyes down to the books she held, a strange well of emotions bubbling up in her chest. The pointer finger lowered too, idly picking at the edge of one book in hopes to distract her. "They're... Both cool." Abbi was quick to add in a lower voice, her eyes darting up once to look at Ian before she set them quickly back to the book. Maybe it wasn't as obvious as she felt it was? Maybe he hadn't noticed the flush in her cheeks at all! All too eager to agree, the teen bobbed her head enthusiastically at the mention of everything being weird. That was the understatement of the century, every last molecule of this place was plain ridiculous, but since the man had already agreed with her it felt unnecessary to add anything further. The girl simply looked up at him and nodded again. "I didn't even know there were others us's we could see! Its totally cray-cray." Even if that other universe had been nice and perfect in every regard, it was now just a far away dream... Thankfully her thoughts are redirected and with a devilish grin the teen lets out a very heartfelt, "OoOoOoOoOoOOoooohhhh? A boooooyfriend??" If she could have chinhand'd at that point she might have, but there was really no where to set her books. Maybe they should get out of the hallway, but to where? She wasn't quite sure where she'd wandered off to besides a part of the dorms she hadn't explored. "Who's your boyfriend?" Yes Ian. Do tell all your secrets.

He caught the frown and frowned himself, Ian peering at Abbi over the stack of books still in his hands.
"Finn is most definitely an idiot," he confirmed, with an affirmative nod. "That is most definitely, one hundred percent true. Sometimes he can be a great guy, but he is most assuredly an idiot. As for Ripley, he's the Sam to my Dean, so I think the guy is great," he added, a grin on his face. Ian tilted his head to look at Abbi a little more closely - he thought he could see a bit of a flush to her cheeks - but he said nothing, the grin fading to a simple smile.
"I'm just going to pretend that that alternate place was just that - a dream," he said, and then cleared his throat a little, trying not to think of the conversations that had stemmed from said dream. Instead, he focused on the present, which was a very delightful change of topic anyway.
"His name's Shiloh," said Ian, and though it was not the first time that they had finally come out in public with it, it was the first time that he'd actually said it out loud to someone else. It felt strange, a little daunting almost, but at the same time, oddly exhilarating. "He's a trainee here, just like me. We've been dating a few months now."

Still pouting, the girl looked down at her books for a few moments more. It felt bad to say anything mean of Finn when he hadn't ever really done anything to really hurt her. Sure he'd be short and crass with her, but he was like that with everyone. At least that one time he'd let her cuddle him... "Sometimes... Yeah..." She didn't want to say anything else regarding the person in question and instead thought about what Sam and Dean had anything to do with each other. And then it hit her and she almost dropped her books again. "OH! Oh like that spooky TV show about the brothers and the demons? Oh man I like... I watched the first episode and it was too scary for me!" So maybe that was just because she had a history of being a scaredy cat, especially around ghosts, but it just hadn't been up her alley. "Sam is... He's the one whose girlfriend dies at the end of the first episode, right?!" Abbi's eyes went wide and she stared off into space, horror stricken. Was that why Ripley was so distant? What if he was like a real life version of this Sam guy? Would that mean Abbi would die?! A quick nod was given before the girl sighed. "At least it had been a really nice dream..." As much as she hated it to be just a dream, that's all it had been and all it ever would be. No Mama Zoey would come to rescue her from her loneliness, no cute nicknames would be given, and she might not ever get to midnight and get to playfully agree to dating Ripley. It was all just a dream... Momentarily brought low by that, it took a bit of mental rousing to get her back to smiling. At least being happy for other people was easy. "Shiloh! Hmmm that sounds familiar too but I can't quite place it..." Was she really this bad at names? "Awwww! And things are going well? That's so awesome to hear! You'll have to introduce me so I can properly ship you two!" Ah yes. It had been so long since she'd properly shipped anyone, so maybe switching to real people would be just as fun? "Did he wake up around the same time you did? You guys go on any fun dates? Are there places to go on fun dates around her? Like I've never thought to look, especially considering yanno the beach is infested with kaiju and mermaids and--"With a gasp the girl dropped the books once more to dramatically point at Ian. "YOU WERE THERE ON THE BEACH DURING THAT PARTY WITH RIPLEY ON THE SHORE AND THE DUCK BOOTS GUY GOT OM NOM NOM'D BY THE BIG MONSTER! THAT'S WHERE I KNOW YOU FROM ONLY WE NEVER EXCHANGED NAMES OOOOOHHHH MY GLOOOOOOOOB!!!" Both hands smacked against her cheeks as she inhaled audibly, her whole world rocked because man that had taken a lot of brain power to dredge up that memory.

Ian laughed, leaning against the wall of the hallway and shifting the books so that they were in a slightly less awkward position in his arms. "Yes, the spooky TV show with the brothers and the demons," he said, and grinned. "I'm the older, wiser brother; Ripley's the dumber younger brother.
The last part was said with affection rather than derision. "And yes, he's the one whose girlfriend dies at the end. But don't worry," Ian added, "Rip's never had a girlfriend die on him, at least I don't think he has."
He liked talking about Shiloh openly, half because most of the time when he rambled on about all of Shiloh's very fine and pleasing aspects, it was only ever to Shiloh himself. So it was a strange and rather freeing change to be able to talk about him so openly and so candidly with someone who seemed to have no issues with both of them being guys.
"Ship us?" Ian repeated with a laugh. "Sounds dangerous. Uh...we haven't...really been on a proper date yet."
Come to think of it, that was a fact that needed to be remedied, and it needed to be remedied ASAP. Ian was momentarily lost in this terrible realization and almost missed Abbi's sudden screech of recognition, turning the focus of his thoughts back to her and her wide eyes.
He smiled. "That's how we all met," he said with a laugh. "Duck Boots Guy" is Shiloh, my boyfriend, and of course you know Finn. The three of us first met on that beach, with those...whatever they were."

Once more the pointer finger made an appearance to gesticulate at Ian harder than she meant. "You're the older, more cynical, smart-butt brother and he's the younger, sweeter and more down-to-earth brother." OK so maybe she'd watched more than just the first eposiode, but she was also just a tiny bit territorial. As for the mention of no girlfriends dying, Abbi looked momentarily relieved. It was quickly replaced with a worried expression tinged on the edges with sadness. "He worked at a funeral home, you don't know if his girlfriends have died or not." They'd never gotten around to discussing past relationships, so maybe it had happened though the rational side of Abbi sincerely doubted it. She pouted a moment later and snuck a quick look at the taller man. "Do ya... Do ya think he's had... A lot... Of girlfriends?" As hard she tried, she knew her face was riddled with worry, that it betrayed any attempt at cover up she had attempted to enact and was fairly plain on the answer she wanted to hear. "Yeah yanno! Like OTP's and all that jazz..." Oh gosh, maybe Ian didn't know anything at all about shipping! What if, like most people Abbi encountered in her day to day life, he was internet-lingo illiterate?! "O-oh! Well then that just means you'll have to! I bet you guys could like... Portal hop to France! Go have a tasty lunch before touring the Eiffel tower and the Champs D'Elysees!" Maybe she didn't really know what she was talking about or maybe she was just wishful thinking, whatever the case she looked heavily invested already. The dropped books are ignored for longer as the man accepts her minor freak out with a calm smile and a laugh. OK, this guy got an A+ in her book of people to go to when she was loosing her mind. "The monsters! The insanity thingys! Whatever they're called! Woooooooow that's so cool!" Abbi grinned and rocked forward onto her tip toes to smile at Ian. If all her time spent on the internet hadn't taught her that all love was good love, she might have been more wary of two guys dating. But she didn't care, she was a sap at heart and was happy for this stranger-turned-friend. "Awwww... I hope I can be as happy as you one day!"kuroopu Your name sounds like a moogle sound... Ian thought about this for a long moment.
"Accurate," he said, with a decisive nod. "Very accurate. I am nothing if not cynical and I do like to think I have a very smart butt," he added, eyes twinkling mischievously. "Alas poor Ripley can only aspire to have a butt as smart as mine one day...but you're right, he is more down-to-earth, whereas I am totally out in space."
There was something about Abbi's tone of voice, something familiar to Ian; and he thought he might know why. It was the same sort of voice that he used when he was trying to get someone to admit something, and it was the same voice he had used when talking to Nevada about Shiloh.
A knowing smile stretched across Ian's face, but he quickly tamped it down. "Not that I know of," said Ian, with a casual shrug. "He hasn't mentioned any to me, at least."
He had the sneaking suspicion that his suspicions were right on the nose. He also had no idea what an OTP was or really anything else that had to do with this "shipping" thing, but Ian took it all in stride, moving to the second part of her sentence which had to do with dates.
"Well, maybe you can help me plan something," Ian suggested to her. "Something really nice, but not too fancy; I wouldn't want to overwhelm the poor guy."
Her compliments made him flush unexpectedly, Ian shifting his feet slightly as he cheeks warmed. It was one thing to talk about Shiloh as openly as he was, but it was entirely another thing for someone to actually compliment them on their relationship. The whole concept was very foreign to Ian.
I hope I can be as happy as you one day.
I think I love you, Ian.
His thoughts had unexpectedly taken a turn in a direction he did not want them to go. Ian forced a smile, bending to pick up one of Abbi's dropped books. "Well, I'm sure you'll find someone soon enough," he said, looking up at her. "A cute girl like you and all, you'll find someone quick here, I'm sure of it."AyeAvast ehehehehe *U* UR CUTE OK heart heart

A smile bloomed on her face, the pride of being right shining through more than Abbi had originally intended. Yes! She had properly pegged the two men, even on her first real meeting with Ian! Success! "But that's good cause then you guys make a good team!" The teen rounded up on her toes once more to punctuate the sentence with a press of her finger into the air. Since it was impossible for her to know that Ian was catching on to her terribly obvious feelings, it seemed totally reasonable to continue giving him woeful eyes until he spoke again. Oh. O-oh? "Oh? Well that's cool, I guess I mean i-its not like it matters or w-whatever." She flushed and looked down at her feet, one of which had decided to stub its toes against the floor. The smart thing to do at this juncture would be to stop talking, to stop digging this hole further. But that wouldn't get her the answers she wanted so why bother? "Has he... Yanno... Mentioned... Anyone?" She didn't look desperate or needy at all! An excited gasp left her next and she jumped into the air, both fists clenched at shoulder height. "Really?! You'd really let me help? BUT YEAH! I can totally do something simple, like a picnic or something!" Would two guys really enjoy a picnic? Then again, who wouldn't enjoy a picnic? There was food and outside and sunshine! Perfect date stuff regardless of gender! Next it was her turn to flush as he turned the conversation back on her, a subject she was not always necessarily happy to discuss. "Ehhhhh. I'm not that cute... Not cute enough to have found anyone yet." Well... "N-not really..." That would require clarification and it was not something Abbi wanted to get into. Instead, she bent down to retrieve her books too. "Thanks for your help..."
