Nighttime in the winter was Tsaphiel's favorite season. Although he loved admiring the stars and warm summer nights, in winter everything was extra bright at night. It was the closest to daytime that he could get and he savored each night even if it meant brisk temperatures. The cold also meant it was easier to stay alert and the icy chill keep him sturdy on his hooves.

The one bummer was it was much harder to run into others as many chose not to venture out in the wintertime, but Tsaphiel understood why. I was so cold that Soquili liked to stay bundled up with each other as much as possible. He didn't blame them, and if his fate was different he would have been doing the same! He tried to ignore whether it was too hot or too cold. There were many internal feelings he cast aside so that his duty brought less struggle day to day.

On this very night he had just returned from scouting the landscape. He decided to land in a familiar flatland and rest his wings. He sighed as he watched a long breath of air escape his mouth. Keeping himself busy with thoughts was one thing he was particularly good at, and he was lucky that tonight brought a clear sky with a bright moon. At least the scenery was pretty enough to keep his eyes busy.

The sound of a landing close by had surprised him. The shiver that ran through him was partly because of fear and partly because of the chill. He was out in this region to be alone. Who would be around in this area this time of night? Pavitra hated winter. Ever sense it killed off his parents, very soon after his was born, he's always felt a bitterness towards the frigid temperatures, though he endured it quite well. And of course it was the perfect camouflage for him. This contrasting, but beautiful, stallion probably had no clue he was just about 20 yards away, watching him quietly. The only indication would be his breath that was coming as white steam, that was often times lost in the wind.

The longer he watched the stallion, the more intrigued he was. How did he get those scars? And what o those second pair of wings? What was.. different about them? Pavitra stared openly, forgetting to breathe for a moment.

It was ironic that Tsaphiel was being watched by another who blended in so well. That was usually the tactic he used when observing others at night, but in this case the other stallion had the complete advantage with blending in perfectly to the winters colors. That also meant the other stallion had an advantage to the situation.

Tsaphiel was distracted at the moment with both his thoughts and the beautiful moon. He on the other hand was very familiar with the area they were in and rarely ran in to problems, so his guard was down and a relaxed state was washing over him almost too fluidly.

Whether it was the chill in the air or a light wind that would rustle through his hair, something felt unusual... Unfortunately for him he was unaware that the unusual feeling was a spectator and visitor to the area. For now he assumed it was winter's edge and a usual cold he felt every night.

Pavitra tilted his head, wondering why the stallion didn't move. What was he doing? Just enjoying the cold scenery? Pavitra himself had been on his way to a small cove that he had been spending the nights at. Then something occured to Pavi. Glancing down, with out moving a inch of the rest of his body, he noticed his foot prints were very still obviously there, from his trekking. He felt a pang of fear of being noticed by this beautiful creature. There was no way of telling if he was friend or foe, not with his size, or scars...

He waited silently, watching the stranger. What was he doing here? What was he going to do? Especially if he saw him...

Tsaphiel sighed when he had enough of relaxing and staring ahead. Sometimes he just needed a moment to take in the world and all that he had been through. A little relaxation and quiet time would do him good.

As he lowered his head and looked forward, he decided to turn and walk towards the other direction. Much to his surprise he too finally noticed the fresh foot prints. Alert came over his body and he darted his eyes and circled around, until finally seeing a white stallion watching him.

The other stallion was as still as could be and blending in perfectly. He definitely had the advantage. That would explain why he hadn't noticed him from afar. Tspahiel took a deep breath to regain composure and walked towards the stallion slowly. No use assuming it was danger, as the other stallion could have attacked him ages ago. "Good evening, I didn't see you there!" He approached but kept a safe distance just in case. "How is your evening?"

Pavtira's eyes grew every wide for a moment, watching the black male with caution. It seemed a blow to his chest that the stallion didn't appear to have eyes... well much like himself, really. He blinked several times, shaking out his mane, and noticing for once the stranger had spoken. This was the first interaction Pavitra had had in... he couldn't recall. He sucked in a breath and pivoted his thoughts. Remembering the past opened him up to pain, that he had spent his time out here driving away memories with the cold he hated so much.

"H-hel" his voice cracked from misuse. He cleared it, and tried again. "Hello.." he tensed, his own voice sounding different, like he hadn't remembered what it sounded like. "My evening is lovely, thank you for asking." his voice was quiet, barefully above a whisper. Without contact, Pavitra still maintained his manners. "How is your evening, sir?"

Tsaphiel found the stallion curious as he spoke. His voice was quiet but enough to be heard. It was nice to hear kindness also come from the stallion in return of the greetings he shared. Once could never be sure these days who was on the side or right and who wasn't. It would be nice to have some company on such a quiet winter evening. Tsaphiel had no duties to attend to, so he was grateful to run into the other stallion.

"Mine is going pretty well, its quiet but no complaints." He nodded lightly while smiling at the other stallion, even if it was hard to see facial reactions from his dark exterior. "I'm Tsaphiel, what is your name? Do you reside around here?" He paused while surveying the area again one more time in case. "I hope I am not disturbing anything you were doing?" It was always safer to ask then disrupt someone elses evening.
