Vyrikyr Taerdos stretched her wings and tried to shake off the midday dream. She wasn't typically the type to take naps in the afternoon, but the sun had felt so warm, so welcoming she couldn't resist it. So she'd stretched out in the middle of the field with the tall grasses effectively hiding her from prying eyes and dozed off for a little while. She couldn't be sure now just how long it had been. The sun, she noticed, was just a little lower in the sky but it looked like she still had some time to burn. "So what fresh adventure am I going to find?" she wondered aloud as she rolled to her feet.
Tossing his mane,he was trotting around the lands enjoying the sun. The warmth of the sun made him super happy,gave him so much energy. Closeing his eyes for just a second he took in a large breath of the nice breeze that went over the fresh grass and tree's leaves.All the birds started to come back along with the bunnies and deer. It was nice to see everything come back from the harsh times of the winter. Opening his eyes,he gave a large whinnie and started running faster.
"Speaking of adventure," Vyrikyr noted her attention drawn by the stallion's echoing cry. "He looks like he knows where he's going," she muttered to herself watching a the stallion. She made a split second decision and started galloping after him, "Let's see what he's up to!" Or have a good race, she added in her mind.
Canter was enjoying himself until he heard another set of pounding hooves.Looking around quickly,he noticed a white mare with shades of blue,red,and black on her.What a gorgeous combination."What are you doing?" He called out to the mare when she started galloping after him. Where did she come from?
"At the moment," she called back grinning as she caught up with him little by little. "Getting in the race!" She laughed as little chunks of grass and earth flew up around her as her hooves dug into the earth, pushing her further and further forward with each stride. It was days like today she both blessed and cursed her delicate bones. The same ones that allowed her to fly were also susceptible to fractures and breaks, especially if she pushed them too much. Then again, no one could convince her that the lighter bones helped her not only fly, but also run faster!
He looked around quickly looking for what race she was talking about."Race...?"Canter was very confused.He didn't know race she was even speaking of,he wasn't in any. Canters body was very strong,but under it all he could really get himself into huge trouble. There are little pieces in the big body that could be destroyed so easily. "but! If you want a race you can have one!" Squinting his eyes,he took off quickly.Hoping she'd keep up.
Vyrikyr laughed, "It's like you read my mind!" She tucked her wings in tight against her body and lowered her head pushing her legs to move faster. For being a draft, he had good speed. Vyrikyr had to admit she was impressed. She was able to keep pace with him pretty well and enjoyed the feeling of letting her legs just run across the open land.
"Did i?" He laughed and raced her.His big large body started to rush off. He might've been the big guy,but he had his own moments where he wasn't so tough."You think you can win?!Where's the finish line!" He yelled out to her as they raced side by side.She qas quite fast for a wind,then again she wasn't much different than him besides that she could fly.Canters little mane and tail flickered behind him as he ran.It felt so good.No one he had ever met wanted to race and travel just as much as he did.
"Haven't decided yet!" Vyrikyr called through the wind as they ran. She cast her eyes ahead and nodded, "That sapling!" she called. "The one at the edge of the tree line!" She flashed him a grin, "I'll see you there!" with a graceful leap over a small pile of rocks in her path she bounded and shot off towards the designated finish line, her laughter floating behind her. This is what she lived for - pushing herself to the limit and seeing exactly what she could do.

Canter kept peering over at the mare.She was fast but he could be faster.He leg his legs branch all the way out so while he was running his body went to full speed. Breathing heavy,hussling towards the small sapling."Alright! You may be the loser!" His hooves made loud pounds as he kept trucking along next to the mare. He weaved in between rocks and brush that got in their way. Canter let out a loud whinnie.More than happy,someone to run with,keep up with him.It felt great.
Vyrikyr smirked to herself. This guy was really getting into it. Good, she thought to herself. Too many of the other soq she came across thought she was childish to still love her racing like she did. They didn't get that it wasn't just the racing. It was the challenge, the thrill of the act that she loved. It wasn't just about winning. Although she really did prefer to win, and this guy wasn't making it easy... Sweat was beginning to bead at her brow and that sapling was getting closer and closer.
Canter knew after his run he'd be taking a bath in the river near by. Even though it wasn't extremely hot out yet,it still made him sweat.His body was working so hard to keep up with the challenge this mare gave him. "Wanna take a swim after i beat you!?" Yelling out to her,he tried to keep his eyes on the goal.It was creeping up so quickly. Their hooves probably sounded like thunder to the other soquili around the lands. They were making branches and leaves wiggle as they passed by. It was coming,and quickly.
"You mean after I beat you?" Vyrikyr called back trying to keep her voice edged with confidence. Trying was the key word there. I need to train more, she thought to herself. Clearly Sonja and Nightstalker weren't pushing her enough in their training sessions. Vyrikyr filled her lungs with air and willed her legs to move a little faster, for those hooves to push off the ground with just a little more force for a final burst of speed - even though she had to admit, it might not be enough.
The finish line was coming even faster. Canter got excited as they were near the end."Here it is!!" He called out and drove across the line. He clenched his eyes closed and awaited to see who won. A little bit after the line,Canter slowed down and came to a stop.Huffing and puffing he looked over to the mare. He raised his head and tossed his mane."So I won right?" Laughing,Canter really didn't care if he won her not.It was a nice run,something to look forward too. He knew he'd sleep well tonight.
Vyrikyr came to a sliding stop beside him, her sides heaving as she sucked air after the rough run. "That one was you," she said between gasps. "Barely," she added after a moment. “You…do…know,” she said inhaling deeply and shaking her head trying to keep the sweat out of her eyes. “That I’ll be wanting a rematch, right?” She stretched out her legs gingerly scolding herself. She Really should have stretc- “Ow, ow, ow!” she muttered feeling that telltale sharpness and pull that indicated- “Cramp!” she growled at her leg (as if that would really help) and continued to try and stretch it…though very carefully.
