"The Blessed Nation"
(Taken from the fall 2013 "Open Windows" Lifeway Magazine)
The psalm that this post comes from, is a psalm of joy and praise for God's righteousness and power in creation.
God can foil the plans of nations and hinder the objectives of people if they disobey His plans. The people who follow Him are especially blessed when they seek to fulfill His purposes.
This Scripture passage reminds us that God is active in the lives of His creation, aware of us, and near to us.
That knowledge should move us to joyful worship.
Our nation was founded on Judeo - Christian principles and values.
Our Constitution, and our currency declare that our trust is in God.
Many years ago, when television stations signed off each night,
(YES...They actually did that until the mid 80's)
many of the T.V. stations would use this Psalms Scripture as a sign off verse.
Yet many of the actions across our nation today do not exemplify the trust in God that we claim.
The military develops strategies, and politicians set into motion domestic policies to address threats to national security and promote economic prosperity
But their actions do not guarantee success.
We must acknowledge that victory comes from the Lord.
God is Creator and Deliverer; He moves throughout history and is involved in the lives of His people.
Taken from the King James Bible and the Book of Psalms 33:10-12.
From Psalms 33:12,
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance."
"Dear God, heavenly Father, as a nation, may we choose to seek You."

P.S.
I am sorry my friends if I forgot to make a comment in the vote that said:
"All the above is my answer."
If I had, that would of been the right box for me to check off on the vote.
