After his last run in with the outside world, Tohru could easily justify staying in the house and never leaving again. In fact, nearly a week after the whole incident was over and done with, the young Kiandri still scurried about the house like some kind of weary rodent. While before he had tried to devote at least a small portion of his time to being in the company of someone else (mainly his brother, Kasen), for the better part of the last week, he hadn't even made the attempt. He stayed tucked away in the deep recesses of his room. Even if Kasen poked his nose behind the closed door, he wasn't even guaranteed to catch a glimpse of the young Dovaa boy. The Gaili suspected his spent the vast majority of his time beneath the bed, then emerged at night to snack and tidy up the messes Kasen left behind. But he couldn't say for sure, because, well... He hadn't even seen Tohru, let alone had the opportunity to talk to him!

But the older boy knew how skittish the youngster was. And as much as he's like to be the one that could coax Tohru out of the habit, he knew forcing him would warrant no positive results. So, the older Gaili gave him the week. Then a second. And then even a third. But as the new month dawned, the older boy knew that this couldn't possibly continue. It wasn't healthy. The little Kiandri couldn't really be that mortified of what had happened. Yes, they'd lost Tennor for a few hours, but no one had been grievously injured, not even the dunkels that had swiped the tiny Fae! Really... Enough was enough...

"Tohru? I'm coming in." Kasen warned as he breached the barrier that separated the Kiandri's personal space from the rest of the house. As he expected, the room was neat and tidy, with no sign that a child had ever lived there, let alone that there was one tucked away in hiding at this very moment. "Where are you..?" The older boy cooed out, discretely slinking up to the side of the bed and crouching down. He flipped the end of the covers up and shouted, "Aha!" Only to find... nothing. The first inklings of alarm coursed through him. He'd been positive his younger brother had been hiding under there for most of the last month. If he wasn't there, then where-?

"Kasen? What are you doing on the floor?" Tohru could see his entire room from his perch atop a broad wooden shelf, adorned with a whole mass of fuzzy and fluffy blankets. It was big enough for him to lie down on and comfortable enough for him to cuddle up with Tennor and read fairy tales and gardening books all day long. It was warm, it was safe... He had no reason to come down until he was hungry or... needed to handle his bodily functions. But other than that? He could sit up here and be perfectly happy and content.

Kasen tapped his foot. "Tohru, come down from there. You aren't going to sit on that shelf for one moment longer." He demanded. "We're going out, and I'm going to show you have the thrash a dunkel."

Thrash...? That sounded pretty awful. Tohru didn't really want to thrash anything. He didn't even want to leave the comfort of his nest! He sank down a few inches, just barely peeking out at the Gaili. Kasen gave him a firm look and pointed definitively to the ground. The younger boy wanted to whimper and tell Kasen that he'd prefer to stay up here, but... What right did he have to argue? Slowly, he unfolded himself from the covers and slipped over the edge, dangling for a moment before plopping unceremoniously to the ground. He looked up at Kasen with sad, pleading eyes, hoping maybe the Gaili would reconsider...?

Alas, it wasn't to be. Kasen took him by the arm and started leading him out. "I think it's best if Tennor stays behind this time. Less for you to worry about." He told the youngster. Tohru only sighed and nodded. The Gaili didn't take long to prepare. He collected a few knives in case he needed something a little more-close range than he earthen magic, and a canteen of water for he and Tohru to share. He doubted they'd be out long, but who knew for certain? With that, the two headed off out into the Terra Expanse.

It was still daylight, and since they were going after a nocturnal species, their only option was to dive right in to the lair of the beast. Dunkels weren't particularly rare or hard to find. Kasen wouldn't be surprised if they ran into a group in the very first cave they entered. And he knew where to start. Kasen led them into the folds of the mountains, traveling along a path that had long since been beaten flat by the countless number of feet traveling it. Here there would be plenty of dunkel hideouts to choose from. He led Tohru to the mouth of one of the caves. The younger boy was clearly weary, despite having his brother with him, and he tucked close to the Gaili's side. "No need to worry, Tohru." Kasen told him. "All the dunkels are sleeping. We'll just find a few, wake 'em up, and I'll show you how to take care of them." He promised. Without another word, Kasen stepped into the cave,

Tohru would've much preferred spending his day beneath his blankets. He had no desire to be out here in the elements fending off a swarm of angry dunkel. He half entertained the idea of staying out here. But... would that incite Kasen's anger...? Mayhaps. With a tiny whimper, he trotted in after his brother. Kasen hadn't gone in very far, though. Hardly even a few yards in, he pointed up to the ceiling, where four dunkels were perched away from the group. There was still enough light to see by, although it was pretty dim. The young Kinadri squinted up at their defenseless 'targets.'

"I'll knock 'em down, Tohru. So you just have to shoot them with a bit of your lightning magic. They really aren't that strong. And if you give it a powerful enough burst, they won't even feel it. Ready?" Tohru shook his head 'no,' but that did nothing to stop Kasen. He quietly reached out his magic, and gave the small portion of the cave top a rattle. One dunkel almost instantly flopped to the ground, landing only a few paces in front of Tohru, but the boy was so startled, that he only leaped back, giving the small creature plenty of time to orient itself before flying deeper into the cave.

When the second fell, Tohru gathered up the courage to shoot at it, but it made such a pitifully sad noise that Kasen had to smash it with a boulder before its cries woke the rest of the hoard. Tohru was mortified. When the third fell, he slung out with all the power he could muster, creating a bright spark of lightning that lit the entirety of the cave and disintegrated the dunkel into dust. After that, Tohru never wanted to see another dunkel again. The fourth managed to escape before it even hit the ground. And Tohru bustled from the cave without another word. Hopefully, Kasen would get the hint and they could just leave...
