Getting Your Pet an ID!

~A guide to certing your Breedable/Changing Pet~

Welcome!

In this guide we will go through the process known as Certing. Certing is basically like giving your new Breedable/Changing Pet an identification card in the BC forum/world. It tells many things about the pet, from the simplest details to the more extravagant.

I will walk you through the process I take with my pets, however, do what you feel comfortable with in the end.

I will be using the B/C shops Forever Tree, Katzie Nebula, and *insert third shop name here* in this guide.

First I will start out with the things you need to start the certing process before you request a cert for your pet.

STEP 2!

~FILLING OUT CERT FORMS~

First thing you need to do to fill out the Certing form is find out where the forms are. Most forms are in the shop guild, however, if the shop is big enough, there will be a shop service's guild. But for the pet we are going to cert, they are going to be found in a guild.

Section One
Finding the Shop's guild

Most shops have a link to their guild in the first page of their shop, on the first post. However, if you can't find it in the opening post, it's there on the first page. If you can't find any links, then go ahead and ask in the shop, and someone should tell you where it is.

Section Two
Finding the Right Certing Thread

Most guilds now have a certing sub-forum just for certs. If they don't they will be in the main form of the guild. If it does have it's own sub-fourm, then they might have rules that you should read before you post. I suggest reading them as they might explain how to fill out the forms of that particular shop certs.

Now when you get to whatever area has the certing threads, you should look for the right thread.

If it only has one general cert thread, you should just use that one. But some artists want to do their own certs on pets they have colored, so they have their own thread.

For this example we shall use the example from the previous post:

Since I know who the colorest is, I will look to see if Toxic has her own cert thread in the Katziea guild.

Since she does, I'm going to go and cert Zzyli there. Because she is an adult, we will use the form we shall be using:

Bonded: (what you want your name to be on the cert)
Gender: M/F
Stage:
Pet Name:
Pet Link: XxX
D.o.F: (date of birth/date of flare)
Origin: (A star's name ... examples: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_proper_names_of_stars )
Colorist:
Lettering Color: (leave blank for matching pet)

I will now go step by step with the sections of the cert form.

Section Three
Filling out the Cert Form

Step One
First we fill out the username and owner ID. I fill it out in both sections even if I own the pet. Most shops use the "Owner" lable on the cert, but that varies from shop to shop depending on the storyline behind the pets. In Katziae, the owner will have the "Bonded" title. You don't have to use your username, I could have it say "Apple", but since I am painoid about my pets being stolem, I always make it official and use "Apple Blossom19".



Step Two
The Gender of the pet will be easy to tell for some shops if it's uncerted with out someone telling you. Most lines, or pet degingns, show the differance between male and female. Katziea is wone of those shops that the diffrences between genders is still to hard for me to tell at first glance. So if someone didn't tell you when you got it, feel free to ask anyone who is in the shop thread.

Since I know Zzyli is a girl, I will put her as F, or Female.



Step Three
Most Breedable/Changing pets have stages. The shops that don't are few, but are still easy to find in the B/C forum. Generally the stages are: *some sort of form* to Adult. For Katzia Nebula, the starting form is a flare, or star like shape that has characteristics of what the pet is going to look like. I will go into the stages of most pets in another guide, but because we know Zzyli is an adult, most likely the last stage of any pet, we will place "Adult" in the form.



Step Four
By this time you will have your pet name. Make sure you write it down exactly as you want it. Also, be aware that some certest might not be able to do special characters, such as letters like "á" or "ū". Since Zzyli was a friend, I asked her to spell her name for me so I could get it right.



Step Five
This is where you will put the link to your pet. Some certedst wants you to use the link url code that gaia provides for you in the posts toolbar, or just the img code that Gaia also provides. ether way, you need the link to the picture of your pet for this. If you won it in a group winning, you might have to put what pet it is you won. Since I have the uncert of Zzyli, and have the link, I will just fill it out with the url code that gaia provides, and the artist has requested I use. For the link title, just put "X"'s like I have.



Step Six
This step is for the birthday of your pet, and will be placed on the Cert. Because Date of Flare and Date of Birth are the same in Katzaie, it doesn't matter what it's called. It's up to you when you want your pet to have been born, but because I keep records of birthdays, and am particular about when they are, Zzyli's birthday is December 30, 2013



Step Seven
Since Katzia is one of the shops that asks for something special on their certs, this step you might want to complete when you are thinking of a name. Because they require you have a star point of origin, I just use the link provided in their form and check out the list of stars. For Zzyli I chose Vega because of it's story of love.



Step Eight
The name of the artist should have been told to you when you got your pet. If not then please ask someone. Since we know the name of our artist, we will put their name here.



Step Nine
The color of all this info that you want goes here. I usaly ask for colors from the pet and leave the style of the leters up to the artist. For Zzyli I asked for rainbow text.



Step Ten
After all the info is up, push preview, look over the info and see if it is right, and all the links go to the right places.



Step Eleven
This has to be the hardest step. Waiting for the cert to be done. If the cert hasn't been done yet since the time your request is posted, you might have to remind the artist and poke em a bit. Chances are RL got so busy they forgot.
