Exams, the one thing Mel was really wishing she didn't have to deal with this year. Normally she was in a good mood in the morning, but that wasn't the case. Yawning, she tucks her hands into her coat as she waits in line for coffee. Her hair was down around her face, mostly hidden under a cream beanie to hide the fact she was having a bad hair hair. Taking a step forward, she smiles to the cashier as she gives her an order for a large mocha latte, with an extra shot.
Quickly paying with her card, she steps aside and waits over on the other end. Her eyes scanning over those in line over to stop at a familiar black hair girl. She wasn't sure, but part of her was almost sure it was Talia from the Academy.
Looking away for a moment, she decided she would hang back and wait.
She didn't want to look strange, randomly calling out a name and it not being Talia.

Talia always tried to be first in line for coffee, but somehow she always ended up near the back of the line. For whatever reason she had terrible timing. The coffee gods didn't smile upon her.
She noticed a brunette walk past, one she recognized. "Melinda? Is that you?" A few people turned, but went back to ignoring them when they realized she wasn't talking to them. "I haven't seen you in like forever."

It was Talia, okay so she wouldn't have looked crazy had she called her.
Mel couldn't help but chuckle as she grabs her coffee and moves towards Talia "Yea, its me. Only brunette instead of a blond." she chuckles as she takes a small sip of her latte "It does seem like forever since Crystal huh? How are you? Please tell me your going to DCU." it would be nice to have a friend from the academy on campus.

Talia giddily smiled, even jumping a little where she stood. A few people turned and grimaced, displeased by the sheer amount of girly excitement this early in the morning, but Talia ignored them. It was quite the display, and Talia did it proudly because meeting up with an old friend was just too exciting to contain oneself!
She moved up one more spot in line and said, "I knoowww! It looks SO good." She gestured to her own hair and said, "Remember when I put that pink streak in my hair and my dad flipped out? Oh my godddd." It was nice to reminisce like this. She had nearly forgotten about all the friends she made before- it was admittedly too easy to do when she'd moved on to college, jobs, a life.
With a flip of said black hair, Talia pulled her little backpack higher up on her back and said, "Yeah! Are you? I'm an engineering major~ What are you studying? Gosh we just have to catch up here."

Mel had to cover her mouth with her other hand not to burst out laughing, instead she coughs into her hand before she nods "Yea I remember, you also tried to convince me to do the same. I chickened out on you." it was more the fact, she didn't know how her parents back in England would have reacted to her hair suddenly having purple chunks in her hair. Though it was helping Talia put the pink in hers, no doubt about it.
"Yea I'm at DCU as well, studying to become a music major." yea she didn't give up on her dream "Music composer, Music History, all that fun stuff at the moment." pushing a couple strands of curls from her face she nods "We really do need to catch up." she adjust her bag before pulling out her phone to check the time "What time is your first class?" she didn't have class until later in the morning.

Talia laughed alongside Mel, finding it strangely cathartic to laugh about something that seemed to bother her so long ago. Now it was just a pleasant memory to laugh at with friends.
She'd bumped up enough spaces in line to finally place her order. She did so, and then politely stepped aside to wait for her order to be filled.
"Music? Really?" Talia questioned. "Sounds like easy work," she continued ignorantly. "Mmmm, not til 9 I think. We have some time to chat if you want?"

Mel nods as she chuckles "Yup music, I never gave up the idea." she pauses only to grab her drink when her name is called "And I wish it was easy. Right now my professor has me working on my own original piece." she takes a small sip before she sighs "Not gonna lie, its a pain in the arse." she laughs before she shrugs "Its fun though, honestly. Creating my own music." she glance back down at her watch before she grins.
"My first class isn't until ten, so I would love to sit and just chat until you head to class." she motions towards a couple empty seats "I'll grab up some seats?" turning on her heels, she slips through the few standing around waiting, then makes her way towards the empty seating.
Dropping her bag into the other chair, she takes a seat in the other one.

The barista then called out Talia's name, so she grabbed her drink and followed quickly behind Mel.
"Right behind you," she called out, letting Mel know she was following close. She looked around the small coffee house, wondering if she recognized anyone else. Occasionally she found a friend or two, much like how she'd found Mel now. Unfortunately, the place seemed to be somewhat empty. Maybe because midterms were coming close?
Talia swung into the seat next to the brunette and said, "Mmm, well I'd love to hear your song when you're done!" She titled her head and leaned on one hand, trying to imagine what kind of song Mel would create. "Do you have a recital for it or something like that? It'd be fun to get some friends to cheer you on!"

Mel shook her head slowly before she ducks it. A small blush forming across her cheeks as she looks down. Honestly, she wasn't expecting Talia to get so excited about seeing her play, but then they were friends. So why wouldn't she? Pushing a couple curls from her face, she looks back up "I'm not honestly sure, but I could ask my professor if its alright to have a friend sit in on class. I'm sure he wouldn't mind too much. Its happen a few times already." she honestly would love to have a friend cheering her on.
Relaxing in her seat, she crossed her legs before "So beside DCU, what else have you been up to? Any guy catch your fancy yet?" forever the nosy girl she was.
To be fair, she just wanted to make sure Talia was happen.
