Ash rather liked her new lodgings, but sometimes she wished she had somewhere more... private, to go. A place that was just hers, that she didn't have to share with all the other cats that called Earth home. She wanted a place she could fill with her treasures and putter around in for hours at a time without interruption... but mostly, she wanted a place that was truly hers.
Chased out of the mauvian HQ by the disturbing feeling of other cats in her territory, Ash had taken a round about path to a park, a place that was neutral. There, maybe she could relax a little... though that idea went right out the window when she felt the huge power signature nearby. Ooooo! How interesting... this bore further investigation!
Breaking into a bounding run, the silver cat made a beeline for the signature, certain now that it had a mauvian feel to it, even if it was a little odd. How exciting! Hopefully whomever it was, was more friendly than Ballard had been. That encounter had been quite disappointing.
Breaking free of the bushes, Ash skidded to a halt at the sight of a long haired cat looking rather annoyed at the... ball thing that was bouncing around it. She certainly couldn't blame her... that would have annoyed her too.
"Hello! Do you need some help?" The silver cat chirped, her tail curling like a question mark.

"Yes and no," The fluffy and ill tempered creature huffed out as the ********* bounced and warbled and generally orbited the crescent moon marked Mauvian with the occasional, affectionate chirp.
She didn't like the thing, even if it occasionally had it's uses. The malfunctioning communicator ********* had made for her was annoying in appearance and practice.
Once bounce too many and she form shifted back to a humanoid to grab it in frustration and try to hold it down.
"I'm sorry! Who are you?" She asked in an awkward chirrup as she tumbled and then looked up at the silver little cat in the visor.
She hadn't seen her before, and she'd seen a lot of cats.

Long white whiskers puffed up as Ash focused in like a laser on the thing that was chirping and bouncing about. Realizing it wasn't a youma or any sort of living thing, the silver cat's attention was immediately locked in. Was that... electronics? Ash would have teleported into touching distance if she had had the ability to do so... as it was, she reached near light speed as she streaked closer, her tail lashing in excitement.
"What is THAT?" She chirped, startling when the delicious tech was lifted by girl that used to be a cat. The transformation was nothing she had ever seen before and for a moment she was stumped, even as the ball tempted her.
"Uh... um, Ash." The burmilla said absentmindedly, stretching out a paw to pat at the *********. "I want to see that! Its... fascinating." Whatever it was.

"You can have it," The woman with cat ears bemoaned as she tried to toss it to Ash, and it only changed trajectory in mid toss and hovered right back in her vicinity.
"Guardian cat technology is just awful," She said with a dramatic groan as her palms covered her forehead and she faceplanted on the grass.
And popped right back up to look at the guardian. "No offense. Ash. I'm Zirc--"
She shifted down to a civilian and sighed defeatedly. "I'm not Zirconia, I'm just Zia. Hello."
She did her best to ignore the hovering electronic ball communicator and pointed at the guardian cat instead. "What's that visor do?"
There was only a hint of cautiousness in her tone.

The silver cat's eyes got big and round as she was offered the toy and nearly exploded in a gleefit. Though, something stopped her as she was about to launch herself at the ball and attach herself to it with all limbs. A sneaking suspicion that maybe, just maybe... this stranger was joking with her. People usually threw fits when she wanted a piece of technology. In fact, she usually ended up running for dear life after attempting to, ah... appropriate that technology.
Green eyes narrowed as she eyed the stranger as she proclaimed how awful technology was (sacrilegious) and fall to the grass... at which point she became a normal human and Ash finally started paying attention. Padding over with her tail up, the silver cat went to sniff her nose in proper cat fashion, curious about this strange creature.
"Zia, not Zirconia, huh? How do you become a person like that?" She said curiously, her tail flicking. "Can all cats do that, or just you?" As an after thought, she added; "Oh, this? Its a headset. You plug it into something and you can hear sound through the ears and this thingy is a microphone."
A slender paw patted the microphone and the headphones absently.

"A person person? Without the cat ears? No, I don't think so," Zia sighed as she flopped back to sit on her butt and shrugged. "Maybe. When I was uh... I guess it was awakened? In a weird definition of it? I met another cat who said I was like Zue, but I've never been able to find him. He might not be real."
She used one finger to push the levitating ball closer to Ash.
"I was a human first, and Zirconia is in here somewhere, but she's just freeloading in my body as a host until she can get back to her universe. So I guess I'm not really a cat at all."
She spared another glance to the headset, inspecting it closely from the established distance between their heads and not wishing to close it in any way. Guardian cat technology was frightening and suspicious and rarely went well.

The silver cat squirmed as the ball floated tantalizingly closer, her butt wiggling as her tail betrayed her excitement by flicking back and forth.
"I awakened a month or two ago... not very long actually. You're only the second... cat I've met, and the first to turn into a person." Ash said as she kneaded the ground under her paws, eyeing the distance between herself and temptation. "I wish I had fingers, sometimes... some of the really fiddly work is impossible to do when you can't hold a tool properly."
Gathering herself finally, unable to resist the lure that was the floating ball of love, Ash lept at the ********* and wrapped her limbs around it, even going to far as to secure herself to the ball with delicate applications of her claws. If she was lucky, her weight pulled it down to earth, but at that point the silver cat was at a bit of a loss... She had to let go in order to inspect this thing properly, but doing so would only let it float out of reach again. A soft hmph was blown through her nose as the burmilla tried to inspect was she could see from so close up, wrinkling her nose as she sniffed delicately at her prize.
"If I had fingers..." She said offhandedly, her tail twitching. "This headset would already function like a senshi phone. As it is, I haven't been able to work with the stuff that the makers have in there.... its disappointing."

While the hovering piece of tech was easy to manipulate and was brought down to earth rather easily, it did so with what sounded like near petulant warbles at doing so.
The entire ball itself was tightly sealed with no visible seams. The casing hadn't opened since it snapped shut during it's construction.
The nose was a pressable button, but one that would call ********* and do nothing else to stop the strange device from trying to hover around Zia like a planet in orbit. "Oh, that's interesting. But then again I don't typically socialize with the other Mauvians," Zia said with a little bit of a shrug as she watched the dainty, silver creature try to tame the *********, I'm pretty good friends with *********, and I've been acquainted with a few others, I just... don't get them. I guess. With their headquarters and their technology. It's not my wheelhouse, it's very foreign."

It was a bit frustrating that the device resisted all attempts to learn its secrets, despite every application of claws and teeth that Ash could think of to do.
"I guess if you weren't a cat to start with, it would all be very strange... but that's what learning and experience are for." She said absently, clinging to the ball like some demented sloth on a tree limb. The grip had her face smooshed up against the side of the *********, but this really wasn't getting her anywhere and the guardian was finally forced to release the ball with a sound of disappointment. Rolling over in the grass, the silver cat straightened up and set to work grooming herself free of the damage that inevitably set in when she was doing something physical.
"I wasn't a guardian until I woke up and I've had to learn all of the things I need to know as I went. You just have to be persistent. Granted, the HQ isn't necessarily the best place in the world to live and work, but its functional and that's whats important. Serving senshi that's what's important..."
Ash gave the ********* a last, long, glaring look before she turned her nose up and wandered away as though she'd lost interest in it, fully ignoring the thing she had been so intent on before. Padding over to Zia, she made a smooth leap up into her lap and leaned up for a nose to nose, proper cat greeting, a small paw braced on her chest for support.
"If you ever need help with having something explained, you are certainly welcome to ask me. I make it something of a duty of mine to gather information. I've been updating the databases at HQ as much as I can, so its possible I might find out something that would help you. You might be a person, but you're also part cat, so... you have every right to the same information as the rest of us." Ash said as she smiled, dropping down to all fours to turn about and sit down on the lap she had claimed.
It would be nice to have fingers... she fleetingly wished she could turn into a human too, but the thought passed quickly. She'd hate to change into one and find out she made an ugly human... it would be unforgivable.

"I make my own databases," Zia said with a shrug like she didn't care. Nope, definitely didn't care about the wonders of cat HQ being locked away and not sharing its secrets with her even though she was constantly searching for a way to get Zirconia's furry butt back home so she would stop terrorizing her.
Even if she did get to use fuzzbutt's powers in exchange it was still crappy, especially with the DMC existing in the same universe.
She was pulled from her thoughts when she found herself nose to nose with the silver cat and she was met with an, "Oh!" but Zia's expression shortly gave way to a smile as she reached one hand up to gently stroke Ash's fur around her ears, being mindful of the tech on the cat's head.
"Thank you, that's very nice," She managed to say with a small laugh, even as ********* started rolling towards her like she had gravitational pull once it had been released.
"I guess I'm mostly just hunting for information on how to open up the barrier between this universe and the Black Moon. With Nehelenia dead I don't think it's possible, though..."

The silver guardian rumbled as her ears were rubbed, the spot as ever a favorite of hers. The tip of her tail twitched as she flexed her paws, first one and then the other in an unconscious kneading motion.
"I'm afraid I don't know anything about barriers and other universes... but I will keep an eye out for you. If I hear anything, I will be sure to let you know. AND... you know, if you have any information for me you can share, or ever want to let me see those databases of yours... WELL. I certainly wouldn't say no." Ash said with a grin. It was something of a far reaching hope, as she had nothing to exchange for that information, but it didn't hurt to mention it.
"Who was Nehelenia?" The guardian said finally, her eyes half-lidded. She wasn't as unfocused as she seemed though, because those eyes were watching the ********* roll about with an avaricious gleam. "Something tells me you have quite a story to you."

"Maybe later, you can come see..." Although there was some weird anxiety creeping in, when it came to another cat seeing the ferreted away notes and data in the nesting base Zirconia had half cobbled together, locked out of everyone else's.
Zia just did her best to shrug it off.
The question of Nehelenia drew a cringe, though. She was her corrupter, the agent of her conversion. She stole her. The positive and negative views of the indigo haired senshi of mirrors were mixed as the came from opposite ends of the spectrum in Zirconia's soul and Zia's. But ultimately, the simple answer was always the same.
"She was my senshi."

The note in Zia's voice, the strain on her face... and the admission all drew Ash's attention and made a few things apparent.
The subject was a sore spot, and no wonder. One's relationship with their one senshi was special, often a very deep sort of connection. 'Was' said she was her senshi no longer, and there was a terrible sadness to it, at least in Ash's mind. She could not remember some transcendent connection to a senshi, no one she felt she must search the earth for, but this thing was perhaps instinctual to guardian cats and the pain she felt was phantom, but still there. Whatever thoughts Zia might be having, Ash was thinking about her own pain if she had lost her senshi.
Standing up, the silver cat bumped the top of her head under Zia's chin in wordless comfort, a purr rumbling up out of her throat in a soothing manner. Cats were good for comfort, right? Hopefully Ash's new friend would find some in her, even if just a little.
"I'm sorry. It sounds like there is a lot of history there, and not all of it pleasant. You don't have to tell me about it if you don't want to." Even if her insides screamed rebellion against the very idea. A secret she would not uncover? It seemed blasphemous... but the burmilla could exercise restraint when she needed to... this would just have to be one of those times.

Zia often claimed Zirconia was dormant, and that her name was little more than a code word for the glamoured identity she bore when powered. But something crept in, in a moment of weakness. Some dark fog that came over her thoughts as she stared off into sad space and absentmindedly pet Ash's soft fur.
Her senshi. Tyndareus left her. Helen left her.
No, they didn't leave. They died.
"Humans always break your heart," She murmured, and then she realized it and she broke into a sad laugh and wiped away half formed tears in the corner of her eye. "It's old stories, it's fine," She said, trying to smile it away and lightly running her nails on Ash's coat before giving her a small pat.
"Next time we get together we'll trade secrets, yeah?"
