Satu had spent all morning dreaming up a story again. Her love for fables and morals never dwindled, so she was trying to come up with her own story that had a moral lesson. So far she had come up with a character, a small hare named Bibu. She decided he would be the main character. A flighty young fellow, he was fearful of most the world around him.
Although she had her character and a vague setting, she was still unsure of the message of her imagined story. Something to do with fighting your fears, perhaps? Being brave was after all an honorable trait. Some would shy away from their desires in fear of rejection, and that could often lead to upset and a loss of motivation. She'd seen it happen!
The deer-pelted lioness flicked her tail. She was getting agitated with her creeping writers block, and she was sure the hot sun was not helping. Satu moved quickly up from her resting spot in the search of some shade.

Ishiwa was a thoughtful and quiet lion. He kept to himself, but he was friendly and gentle. He had no reason to really dislike anyone, as no one had given him a reason to. At least not yet, and he had lived in the pridelands for a while. Maybe it was just a nice place, and would always be a nice place.
He could live with that.
For a moment he thought he was looking at a prey beast, and his stomach grumbled at the thought. The color of the pelt, the markings, made him think that some kind of a strange antelope or deer had wandered a little too far away from their usual home. He quickly realized his mistake, his ears perking forward as he examined the lioness that was just getting up, wondering about her pretty pelt.
He padded after her, then thought running after a lioness that looked like a deer would probably still be seen as a threat, even if he had already realized she was not food.
"Hello there," he called instead, just to give her a heads up.

Satu had to admit that she had before been stuck up on, stalked from a distance, in fact. Her unusual pelt and slim size meant it was easy for her to be mistaken for a prey animal from afar. In all honesty it had made her quite a humble huntress. She could imagine the kind of fear the prey animals had to live in, day in, day out.
Turning round, she blinked her large eyes and stared at the pale lion before cocking her head and moving closer. "Tell me, if you were a hare, who would your friends be, aside from other hares, I suppose?" Satu could be quite abrupt when she was off in her land of imagination, but it was only to try and harvest another opinion or perspective. She flexed her paws gently, seemingly unphased by the males sudden appearance. This was the Pridelands, after all.

Zohwhee Sorry for the wait! Lost this tag somehow D= Ishiwa stared at her for a long moment, trying to figure out what she was asking him. He had never really thought of the friends of hares, or who they might want to hang out with. In fact, the only time he really thought about hares was when he was cursing how fast they were and wondering, for the thousandth time, why he always wanted them for an 'easy' snack when they were not that at all.
They were fast and they were deviously clever, darting into places that made them hard to catch and also sometimes hurt him, like briars.
"I don't think I've ever really wondered about uh... that kind of thing. I guess they would be friends with other hares... but aside from that... uhm... other small... furry animals? I know some lions have hares as friends, as well, though I don't know how they resist the temptation to just eat them."
He smiled and looked a bit silly, shaking his head.
"Why are you wondering about that?"

"I was just thinking up a story, you know. Maybe something with a good message for the children?" She shrugged.
"I just like to make things up. It's nice to use your imagination sometimes." Satu nodded deeply. In all honesty she didn't have many friends in the Pridelands outside of her family. In such a big and full pride, it could make you feel a little lonely.
"Maybe honey badgers? Or snakes? No, maybe not snakes, they could try and eat him, and I guess Bibu would be scared of that." Her eyes glazed over slightly until she shook her head.
"I'm sorry, I do get lost in my own world sometimes."
Smiling gently, she motioned forward to introduce herself.
"I'm Satu"

Ishiwa tilted his head to the side thoughtfully, considering. He was not much of a story teller, and did not have the best imagination around, but he had never really considered it before. He did not have cause to tell stories, good or bad, though he knew that there was a line between story telling and lying.
He smiled and shook his head.
"I can get lost in my own world too, sometimes, though I don't think it sounds as fun as yours. My name is Inshiwa. It's nice to meet you, Satu."
The lion smiled pleasantly and had a few questions about her story, like why she wanted to tell that particular one, and what children she meant, and who Bibu was, but he hesitated to just start bombarding her with questions right off the bat. At least he was naturally curious, and he very much liked learning about anything he could.
Instead, he offered her a smile and tried to be calm and collected.
"Do you like to share stories with others? I bet that could be fun."

Having now snapped out of her imaginative trance, Satu motioned a little closer towards the male with a big smile. She was indeed, a friendly and kind lioness, even though she did not have too many friends. Perhaps it was time now to make some, and to be a little bolder!
To hear that Ishiwa thought her world was fun made her smile. "It is nice sometimes to get a little lost. This world is fabulous but there is so much more to think of, sometimes." She hoped that she never gave the impression that the Pridelands weren't enough for her. Satu was very happy and settled in her home, and hoped to never be parted from it.
"I-i... well..." The brown lioness faltered slightly. "I have shared some ideas, with family, and a few others, but I tend to keep a lot to myself.. I don't really have that many others to tell stories to. I think eventually I would like to share my stories with everyone, if they were willing to listen." Satu had certainly become quieter since her mentors death.
Although she thought of children's stories and morality, she had never had the opportunity to tell her stories to the cubs. She had enough sense to suppose that approaching a cub talking of things that did not exist would not be seen well in the eyes of the parents, or other pride members.
"I was actually, well, taught by the storyteller here... But she's gone now, and I thought m-maybe one day.." She trailed off a little.

Zohwhee If you were still interested in this, I have finished his solos Ishiwa smiled at the idea of being able to just get lost in his own world every now and then. He considered it like some sort of magic power, coming from the mind. Most could not do it, could they? Like those lions that could see things others couldn't.
She was special, he decided, if she could let her imagination work so well. She was something that was not too common, and he was lucky to have run into her. He was more than willing to believe that, smiling as she spoke.
"Well, if you like sharing your stories with others and just don't get the chance to, I would love to hear them! I don't think I've ever had anyone tell me stories, except maybe when I was a cub, but I can't remember it now if I did. But it sounds like something that would be very nice... and relaxing. And you can consider me practice, for your cubs!"
He smiled at her brightly, thinking his idea was a pretty good one.
"Then maybe you can be a storyteller, too, one day. Is that what you were going to say? I think it's a very good goal to have. Better than any I have, since I don't... uh... really think I have any." He laughed at that, not fussed. He was happy with his simple life.

There was something about Ishiwa that made Satu feel so comfortable. He made her believe in herself. It was something that she had felt from few lions before. It was the kind of feeling that Tai had given her. Warmth and kindness.
She hadn't felt about Tai for a while. A pang of greif hit her stomach to think of her deceased teacher. It had been painful.
Satu blinked up at Ishiwa gently. "I would love too. Maybe you're right, I could be a storyteller!" She jumped up and puffed out her chest. "One day, I'm sure you'll find out exactly what goals you have in your heart too." It sounded a little cliche, but Satu thought it was true. Perhaps she was lucky to have found her calling so young.
"Thank you Ishiwa... I would very much like to see you again." Satu's last comment rang with utter sincerity as she beamed at the pale lion.

Ishiwa smiled at Satu in his quiet, peaceful way. He had a kind of confidence in the world around him that let him be very calm a lot of the time. He trusted that things would always work out the way they were supposed to, and he knew that sometimes it just needed a little help. He liked to offer that help if and when he could, in whatever way he was able.
Nodding his head, he imagined he was looking at the next great storyteller, one that would in turn have stories told about them. That was the mark of any good one, right? He was not too sure how it worked, but to him it seemed grand and like it would be a very giving occupation for one to pursue. He hoped to find himself a goal like that, though he was fairly sure he had no knack for storytelling. One day he'd find something.
He was certainly happy to hear the stories, though, and he was hoping she would allow him to stay in her company, and see her progress. The idea of just wandering away and never really seeing her again made him feel sad. Even a little worried.
Her smile and her words were quick to put him at ease, though, and he returned them with his own big grin.
"That sounds great! Alright, we can meet up and you can tell me about your progress, and any new stories you have! Every now and then, around this place? Or we could find some place better."

Her soft voice came to a halt for a moment as she looked over at Ishiwa. What a kind lion he was. Especially to give her this kind of confidence. It was the kind of confidence that her mentor and family had given her, and now she knew that maybe she would live up her own expectations.
She was lucky to have a great love of what she knew.
"Maybe here, unless either of us finds somewhere better." She said gently.
"And maybe next time you can hear a story." ((END))
