As promised, Mimsy had taken care of her brother as his injured hand healed, which generally meant that she hung around him incessantly, or urged him along on her own endeavors when she had other things to do. Presence was meaningful to her, however, so she genuinely did feel as if she were helping. It brought forth a strange sort of pride, because it was fairly atypical of her to be pleased with herself for helping someone.

But Lucky was different, in many, many ways, which might have been the cause. He was more resilient than he appeared, and more forgiving than most, and both were qualities that made it very possible for her to spend extensive amounts of time with him. Whether or not this was an 'unfortunate' fact was up to Lucky - she found it quite agreeable.

Her aforementioned presence, being more commonplace, only felt odd to her after the day that they attended the mandatory sensitivity training, largely because everything felt odd to her after that day. Still, she was here, idly working through formulas in the Argus lab as Lucky perfected the latest physical prototype. She was silent for a long time, giving him only a smile every now and then, until Svensyl's laughter brought a worry that she was slowly destroying the relationship with her sibling by not speaking to him.

"So." She cleared her throat and put her pen down, turning her gaze toward him. "Have you put any more thought into the events of the mass hallucination and/or string collision that occurred on New Year's Eve? Or...what happened a few days ago, if not? You are welcome to address anything now. I apologize if I have not given the impression of a willingness to speak."

The Argus prototype of the week was still only half-completed, assorted thin and colorful wires sprouting from every unchecked surface. It had been a while since he had been able to return to fixing it up. Given the state of his hand, most of Lucky's usual endeavors had been out of the question. But he persevered as best he could, because routine was familiar, and safe, and
he needed as much of both as he could get right now.

It was for the same reasons Lucky never complained about Mimsy's presence. He had been wary at first, guilty even, that he was dragging her into a mess of his own creation. He didn't deserve her help. But there was something comforting about not being alone right now.

At least, that had been the thought process before New Years... and 'sensitivity training'...

The screwdriver stopped turning.

"Yes," he began, tentatively. How could he not have? The events of the past week had turned clear, straight lines of information into a tangled mess in his mind. It seemed difficult for him to make himself seem any smaller, but he managed, in the same instinctive way an octopus changed colors to disappear into its surroundings. He set the screwdriver down and shifted slightly nervously where he sat. "Some..."

"The things you said... before... about me..." He was resting his elbows on the countertop, running the fingers of one hand loosely over the scars that formed a neat μ in his own skin. A presence overlapped his, one that had been waiting patiently but silently. There was a flare of imagery, the concept of a voice, of claws wrapping around and digging into his hand to pry the memory from them, and hot blood running freely from it.

Have you chosen to forget? she asked, not in words, but ideas and feelings that ran much deeper between them so as to circumvent language entirely. Not to warn him or even dissuade him, but simply curious. Is it worth it?

His hands froze, clasped one over the other.

"Vere they true?"

The question was a fair one. Mimsy had anticipated something of the sort, because it was the first question she had. Most of the sentiments that she had expressed were simply nonexistent at any other time, and reminders of that fact rang loudly in her mind each time she thought of what she'd been told. They were ideas that she wanted to be true - Lucky probably wanted the same.

"They were true, at the moment. All of the things that I said were." She shook her head. "But I have never experienced guilt in that capacity. Not before, and...not now, truthfully. I am sorry."

The problem with apologizing after expressing a lack of remorse was obvious to her; she hoped it was not quite as obvious to him. She did want to genuinely apologize, and feel sorry like everyone else did, because that was a very important step towards normalcy.

It just wasn't there.

"However...I do think that you are intelligent, and that you are a good person. I was fearful of forming a bond with you, and have continuing difficulty accepting your other relationships, because I cannot possibly believe that they care about you as much as I do. But I do want you to be my brother. It is very important to me to maintain that familial connection. Please do not doubt that."

After a moment of hesitation, she pushed everything else that she intended to mention aside, speaking softly when she began again.

"Did you want it to be true?"
