Otto laid across the yard of the training field. He had no intention of battling anyone. No sparring. He simply laid in the grass while the bright island sun beamed down. His chores for the day were mostly done. Now it was time for a break and some fresh air.
His mind went blank, headphones on, as he let his playlist lull him into a sense of zen.

He could still hear Elliot’s voice ringing in his hand. How funny that they used to be good friends, but it’d crumbled so quickly after the glue called Emmaline Grant had melted away. They were two very different people, Wilson and Elliot. With only one true thing in common gone, it had only been a matter of time. They both loved Emmaline Grant too dearly, but held too different views on her departure to stay friends. They couldn’t even be called acquaintances now. Elliot’s words. Eva’s tears. Home. The thought almost made his heart stop, made his eyes water, but he swallowed the pain away for another day. There were still things to do. He had to stand tall, smiling his sunny smile like always.
The sun was warm as he cast long shadows across the ground. Worn sneakers glided across the sparse grass. The sleeves of his graphic hoodie were rolled to his elbows, revealing slender arms and gloved hands when he quietly laid beside Otto. Wilson closed his eyes, letting the sun’s rays warm him for as much as it was worth.

He felt someone nearby, even though he couldn't hear them. At first he worried; maybe they were here to bother him. Antagonize him. Tease him. But the unknown presence simply laid there with him. Nothing asked of him, just the sharing of company.
So Otto relaxed again, letting the sun warm his pale skin and the drifting through the soothing sounds of good music.
It wasn't for a while before Otto slowly pulled off his headphone, stretching his arms a moment. He finally looked to see who was there. His feelings were mixed. Wilson was what he might consider a good bro. However, he was also Eva's cousin. But if he'd come to start s**t, he'd have done so already. So Otto simply pushed his headphones over to the taller boy, not moving to sit up yet.

There was only silence, save for the wind and whatever music managed to filter out of the blond’s headphones. It was pleasant, almost a relief to be able to bask in the silence. Even when the lack of noise made it easier for his thoughts to drift to unpleasant things, it was just as easy to pull his mind away from them.
He placed his hands behind his head. Occasionally, Wilson looked up at the dark sky, sometimes stretched out an arm so he could stare at a gloved hand. There was no specific reason for it; he just wanted to. He could feel the wind breeze through his fingers, brushing over his skin, rustling the goggles dangling over his neck. All of it was calming, but the silence was broken by a pair of headphones slipped over his ears.
Drums and guitar filed his senses as he looked over at Otto. He grinned, his outstretched hand pulling off the headphones to hand them back. “No thanks, I’m fine without them.”

Otto shrugged and took them back. For a while he laid there silent again, his eyes closed as he just basked in the quiet company again. All worrisome thoughts were silent. That was until he felt something wet fall on his eye lid. He flinched, a hand coming up to wipe it away. He stared up at the darkening sky, as more drops of rain began to fall.
"Is it... raining?" He asked, the answer obvious as a light drizzle fell like mist.
