Marcus wanted his home to be safe. Or rather, as safe as it could be considering he lived in the towns and thus would always be defending his home from the monster of the week. But, he very rarely had time to keep going out to clear the nearby properties of shadowlings and other such creatures. Like mutant escaped melting minipets, Marcus was very much sure those were less a threat so much as a nuisance. To combat this, one sun had seemed willing to offer her services. To Marcus this was a win-win. Pay someone to kill things that bothered him, clear up the nearby area, and, the trainee would be getting some experience or whatever. A good call in his opinion. Sending a message over to America with the details of the work and the pay- $50 per house or they could negotiate- Marcus waited by his 'house'. He was willing to pay more provided she could do more or guarantee he'd not find anything alive when she was done. The thing that made his wait hard was the fact he was rather curious how much of an investment it would be.. or if this girl would just end up demolishing the buildings.

America arrived quickly enough, wearing one of her ever expanding sets of dirty work clothes. The offer of getting to fight a bit had definitely sweetened the deal, especially after Nevada had so thoroughly thrashed her on the sparring yard. "Yo! Mister!" She greeted Marcus, bouncing on her toes, "Your tummy doing better? Where do I start?"
The girl looked around that section of town, curious and eager. "How many folks live out here?"

She arrived, so stage one was a pass and go. Work clothes not even minded in the slightest, his motioned to the row of houses nearest them. Windows broken, paint peeling, wood half close to breaking on frames and the like. "We start on the front row and move our way back and out. As for how I'm feeling? Better. Mistakes were made and eventually a nice home cooked meal healed some internal injuries. As for how many of us live out here..." He counted them out in his head. "About five. Give or take a few after a titan or dragon or a wave of horsemen. Why? Thinking of eventually coming out here on your own?"

She nodded as Marcus spoke and took a moment to consider the question, "I like the basement and making it a better place for the people down there but...it's not really mine. Eventually I'm going to want something that's my own, y'know?" The town didn't seem too bad, and if it got attacked sometimes? Well, it was still here, and she was getting good at repairs.

Marcus crossed his arms and nodded. He knew what it felt like to have a 'place' but one that wasn't really his- impersonal in a way. "Well, once you're off the training wheels you'll get you pick of places. My advice if you consider towns though- save up, because most things will be coming out of pocket and very few hunters want to 'pitch in' for something they'll see as a waste." After 3 home wrecks later, investments have to be taken very carefully. "Now- I'm offering $50 a house. More if the house proves to be highly infested. Average is we shouldn't encounter any problems, though with the Titan attacks and lingering insanity keeping our guard up will be good. Starting out I'll go in with you so we both can get a feel for the typical levels of infestation you'll be seeing. Ah, and if a house itself, as in the very building, is too unsafe I'd prefer you just leave it and let me know which one it is. No point in clearing out shadowlings if a roof caves in and kills you that way." A wave to the first row. "If it sounds good, pick a house and we can get started."

"Just takes good politics to get people doing the things you need them to, but I may as well start saving too." While a few were obnoxious, she didn't really mind the odd extra jobs she'd been taking lately. It wouldn't be a hardship to continue them after meeting the current goal. She brightened right up at the sound of fifty dollars a house, and while she listened carefully to the instructions and cautions, America also figured she wouldn't be done in by a roof. Probably. Hopefully, as that'd just be embarrassing. Summoning Stryker, she gripped the ball close in one hand and chain's slack in the other. Good chance for melee training!Yup.Finding a good pose in close quarters can be a bit trickier than out in the open you have to...Letting her weapon ramble on, she picked the house at the beginning and began walking toward it, "May as well work my way through."

The summoned weapon made Marcus have second thoughts. A LOT of second thoughts. "Uhhh. Hold up, you do know how to you know, not be Allan and break everything in a building right?" The was actual concern laced heavily in his voice. "No offense but unless I know you're not just going to end up bringing the house down literally, aside from it being massively unsafe for you, it wouldn't really get me or anyone anywhere." He summoned his own weapon and Dis just cackled at the fact out of every possible hunter, he asked a sun and the sun of course, had a weapon that was pretty much a wrecking ball on runic steroids. "I'd lake to hire you but I admit, I have some apprehensions given your...weapon." She came in like a wrecking ballll~Marcus was never listening to radio with Dis around ever again.

Pausing, America turned with a put out look, practically bouncing with impatience. "Just because I can knock it down doesn't mean I will, dang! I can do close quarters easy as pie and I won't even use the fireballs. Will that suit ya mister 'cause gotta say, I did not expect to be discriminated against here." Chest out, feet planted, and hands on hips, the trainee looked ready to stay and argue for as long as it took to get her way.

Taken aback with the sudden rebuttal, Marcus just gave her a look. "I'd say it wasn't discrimination but in fairness, it is. I 've had several poor encounters with suns and ex-suns who think that breaking all the things is a conductive way to go about one's business." His free hand motioned to the dilapidated housing units. "If you say you can control it then prove it. I'd just rather not you make things worse or, get yourself injured over a house of all things." Starting to walk towards the buildings, Marcus sighed. "And it's Marcus, not mister. I'm barely in my twenties not going into my thirties-Jesus."

"Well I will prove it n' maybe you won't be so quick to judge next time you meet a Sun, hmph." She turned back to marching toward the house with great and terrible dignity. "Nothing wrong with being a mister, dang, you've even got the," she gave the white in his hair a significant look. "Even Caelius is an older man and his hair has white bits, and he's hella hot. Like majestic."

"Put your money where your mouth is. You prove you can make it through these first houses with minimal damage or non at all.... I'll throw in a bonus." Not that he'd tell her what amount said bonus would be. Marcus did stop at the house to try and fiddle if his hair and the fact yes he had white parts and- ".... One, Caelius is disgusting. Two I didn't exactly ask for my hair to do this you know. Things just turned out this way is all." His own grumpiness begun the door to the first home was opened. Only for there to be right in front of them both, two shadowlings, holding up what looked like really old AC/DC shirt. One in which they were in the middle of trying to tear in half. "Oh see now that's just wrong."

THe mention of a bonus washed away any indignation, and America happily joined him at the house. "Disgustingly hot, you mean," she corrected before seeing the shadow things.
"Awww...they're cute!" She tried to very gently hit one with her chain. "Go on, git!"

"...Agree to disagree then." If anyone was disgustingly hot it was him. Because Marcus was pretty sure he was hot as hell to have had Cass fall for him like she did back in the day. "And no they are not cute!" Marcus slashed t them, the little shadowlings vaporizing nearly instantly. "They are homewreckers and little assholes who if even leave so much as a window open will get into everything and have you ever been overrun by a swarm it's ******** annoying as hell." Marcus's skillful attack had her standing a big straighter, looking at the man with speculative respect as a veteran Hunter rather than just as the old guy who will hopefully give me money.
"Well that doesn't make them any less cute, in fact, the best varmints got cutest little faces, don't you, yes you do..." She bopped one on what could possibly be its nose, making it squeal angrily and do a little rage dance at her. She brightened with glee at the sight, "Can we stuff them and mount them? Like for decoration?"

Marcus was old technically in hunter years. In a few more he'd be hella old. "Ew." He kicked a pair that lunged at him, frowning when they left little specks on his boots. "Also varmints- the hell did you grow up? As for shadowling taxidermy- I have no idea, ask Life. They're pretty weak so they'd probably dissipate before you could do anything substantial." He shrugged. "There tends to only be a few, so give it a minute. If any more show up, if not, lead on to the next house." HP: 57 i forgot they take hp shhhhhhhhh DMG: 12 like what
