 Ayla wandered the plains of the Isle at a slow but steady pace, smiling as she inspected a small flower peeking out of its brown surroundings. One of the first flowers of spring. "How pretty..." Then she thought she heard something and lifted her head to scan her surroundings. She didn't see anything, so she decided to climb the nearby hill to get a better perspective. Slowly but steadily. She wasn't in a rush, after all. There was no need. Right now, the world was quiet from its wintry sleep; the land was at peace. The sound she'd heard was likely just another sign that it was arousing from its snowy slumber. No matter what it was, Ayla was curious to see the origin of the sound.

 Vancelion was wandering along on an early spring morning. He was admiring the start of springtime, as he did not particularly care for winter, when he saw something much prettier than the nature around him. It's a mare, he thought, carefully trodding closer to the female. As he got closer, he could see the absolute beauty that he had luckily spotted on the landscape that was bland in comparison. He saw her step up onto a hill, which gave him an even better view of the goddess he had come across. I need to know her name, he thought, as if in a trance. He started up the hill to inquire the beauty of her most assured beautiful name to match her unmatched goddess-like features.

Ayla turned when she heard the approaching footsteps. A stallion. Gray and black, but with green markings and golden mane and hooves... and what was this? Antlers? With the pink at the tips, it almost made him look like he had the branches of a cherry tree growing from his head. The thought made her smile. "Hello," she greeted politely. "Lovely day, isn't it?" He had an odd expression in his eyes... was he alright?

Vancelion's heart almost skipped a beat when he saw the mare smile. Her smile makes her even more beautiful.... he thought, smiling in return. "Yes, it is quite a lovely day indeed, he responded without looking away from her. Shaking himself from his daze for a moment, he remembered that manners were quite important, especially in front of such a beautiful lady. "Oh, pardon my manners. My name is Vancelion. What would your name be?" He made sure that he was listening intently, for he truly wished to know her name.

Despite the dazed look, the stallion was keeping his gaze on Ayla and responded normally to her question. How... peculiar. Then he shook his head and introduced himself. "Your manners are wonderful," she reassured him. "My name is Ayla. It's nice to meet you, Vancelion." He was polite and listening attentively. That was nice... some Azrein she'd met were a bit less tactful in their conversations with her.

Vancelion went back into his daze as he heard the mare's name. Ayla... A beautiful name for a beautiful mare.... He snapped out of it again as he realized he needed to actually respond to her. "It's nice to meet you too, lovely Ayla. And I'm glad that you think that my manners are wonderful. It means a lot." Vancelion couldn't think of much else to talk about, especially since the beauty of Ayla in front of him wasn't allowing his mind to think straight.

Ayla giggled at the daze that kept glazing over Vancelion's eyes. "Are you alright?" she asked, a little amused. "You seem a little distracted." Hopefully it was just a little distraction and not something serious.

Vancelion slightly blushed at the fact that Ayla thought he seemed distracted. "Well, it's just... never mind. What would a lovely lass like yourself be doing around this part of the Isle?" He mentally shook himself out of his daze and tried really hard not to go back into the daze that Ayla was putting him into.

Ayla blinked innocently at his change in subject before answering his question. "Just enjoying the day," she replied honestly. "There's no reason in particular that I chose to be in these parts. I just went where my hooves took me."

Vancelion was surprised there wasn't really a reason for her to be around. "Well, then, it must be fate, meeting such a lovely mare as yourself in these part," he stated courteously. He knew that it wasn't common for pretty mares to be around, since it was the equivalent of the middle of nowhere on the Isle. It was usually just traveling merchants that traveled through.

Ayla smiled politely. "Maybe so," she replied. "But you could say that about any meeting, couldn't you?" A meeting that may have never happened but happened anyway. "And there are plenty of mares much more lovely than I."

Vancelion was amazed at the mare's modesty. He had seen many mares that were lovely, but none that were even close to Ayla's beauty. "I must digress, lovely Ayla. I have not seen any mare as lovely as you," he stated truthfully.

"You flatter me, Vancelion, but I doubt the truthfulness of that statement," Ayla replied. Flattery was, after all, an exaggeration used to win someone's affection or trust, after all. He seemed surprised at her response, though... But even if it was honest, flattery was still flattery.

Vancelion was crushed when she didn't believe him. Am I really not that trustworthy? he thought, doubting himself. "It's true, Ayla! I really have never met any mare as beautiful as you! There's no doubt about it!" he said passionately. He wasn't trying to flatter her, but rather to state what he truly thought.

Ayla blinked, a little surprised at his passionate reply. She smiled. "I appreciate your sincerity. It's a rare trait." Inspecting his horns, she changed the subject. "From a distance, I thought you had cherry blossoms growing on your antlers," she informed him.
