Colonization
It is possible, for those with the coin, to start a new settlement of their own, of which they are the lord. To do this, the player must first claim an area of land. In doing such, they must face off against any opposing forces that might also lay claim to that land, such as the local monsters, or nearby cities. Once the land has been conquered, the character may begin laying the foundations of their new colony. A prospective lord must build their colony themselves, or hire others to do it for them. Each building has a set requirement for construction time, which the lord must fulfill. Once the colony has at least one unemployed Low Class citizen however, the lord can simply pay them to do the building for them. The cost of this is Ten Silver for every fifty Words.
A colony needs two things to operate efficiently. People, and buildings. To get people to join your colony, you must build places for them to live. Once you have people, you can then construct places for them to work. With enough people and workplaces, the colony can become self sufficient, and provide bonuses to their lord according to what buildings have been placed. A single thread can only hold up to ten buildings, and some threads won't support some building types. In some cases you may never know until the building is constructed whether or not it will operate as intended. Larger colonies can be made by colonizing the surrounding threads and joining them together to form a larger settlement. Workers are a bit finicky, and refuse to commute between threads to work, so any thread with a workplace needs at least enough housing to operate those workplaces.
Every building also has a set Class level. Low class housing adds low class citizens, while medium and high class housing add medium and high class citizens, respectively. A citizen will not work a job outside of their class, so if a workplace is labeled as medium class, a low class citizen will not work there. Likewise, a medium class citizen will not work a low class job. If a workplace has no workers, it will not produce goods or materials, and may even become infested with monsters which must be cleared out before the building can be used.
The lord of a colony receives a 10% tax on any earnings their colony makes selling services to other players, and receives a 10% discount when using those services themselves, both rounded down.

Buildings
► Hut ► Building Class: Low Class ► Materials Required: 100 Wood ► Construction Time: Three 100 Word Posts. ► Building Description: The most basic building of any settlement, a small wooden hut allows citizens to begin moving into your colony. This hut will hold three low class citizens.
► House ► Building Class: Medium Class ► Materials Required: 100 Wood, 50 Stone ► Construction Time: Four 200 Word Posts ► Building Description: This medium class structure is made primarily of wood, with a stone foundation to give it strength, and class. Still not much larger than a normal hut, and with the higher standards of it's occupants, this home still only holds three medium class citizens.
► Inn ► Building Class: Medium Class ► Citizens Required: 3 Low Class, 2 Medium Class ► Materials Required: 300 Wood, 200 Stone ► Construction Time: Six 200 Word Posts ► Building Description: The colony must have a total population of at least 15 before an inn can be constructed, as before that, there is little point. The inn is a large building made of stone and wood, with a large dining area, kitchen and several rooms for guests to stay in. This allows a place for your citizens to gather and relax, but perhaps more importantly, increases your population by 10 Low Class citizens. RPCs can also stay at the inn to restore their energy and endurance, at a price set by the Lord.
► Lumber Mill ► Building Class: Low Class ► Citizens Required: 3 ► Materials Required: 200 Wood ► Terrain Required: Forest ► Construction Time: Three 150 Word Posts ► Building Description: A Lumber Mill is essential to a colony that wishes to expand rapidly, as it is their primary source of lumber. Once constructed, the workers in this location will spend their days merrily devastating the forests to produce wood for their colony. Assuming of course that they are getting paid. Lumberjacks work cheap though, and charge a mere 50 Copper per unit of Wood. RPCs may also spend a bit of time working at the mill to attain free wood, should they have the right skills.
► Quarry ► Building Class: Low Class ► Citizens Required: 3 ► Materials Required: 200 Wood ► Terrain Required: Stone Face ► Construction Time: Four 150 Word Posts ► Building Description: A Quarry is a colony's primary source of stone, a material they use in many buildings and for some crafts. Once the quarry is operational, it's workers will produce stone by cutting away at the hill or mountainside the quarry is built into. Quarries sell Stone for 1 Silver per unit. An RPC can also cut stone themselves using their Quarrying skill.

Player Homes
A lord may designate any housing building as a home for himself or another player. In this instance, that building will no longer house citizens or affect your population. Instead it will become a home which the player designated as it's owner can use as a resting place at any time, for free or for rent, as determined by the area's Lord.
In addition to the basic homes, the lord of an area may also construct a more personalized custom home of their own design. The design must then be approved by the L&L crew before it can be built. A custom home can be constructed at any location the player likes, but if it is in a lord's territory, the player must have that lord's permission, and if it is in unclaimed land, the player will have to either claim the land, or risk infestation by monsters.
