So I've been dabbing a bit on DQ III for a bit. And I was taking a peek at some of the choices I've made in the past. Apparently I had a Cleric, Warrior, and a Thief for the most of my journey of the game.

Once I came around Dharma castle, I decided to class change my Thief into a Sage(Thanks to the Zen book, the one and only book in the world that does that), my Warrior into the Thief, and my Cleric as a Fighter. And they handled things pretty well as far as things go. Now, I'm getting to the point of the game where I feel like I need class change again to learn other spells that I think might be useful.

So out of curiosity, for those that played DQ III what were some of the class choices you went with?

I'm happy you're having fun playing with the class system, I imagine having access to various sorts of magic would be convenient. As for me, I never really worried about giving anyone a new class, rather than my Priest, who always turns into a Sage when they get to the Temple of Dharma.

For me, if I want to win the game, I go with a female hero, for female armour access, a Warrior, a Priest who turns into a Sage and Martial Artist.
The last spot (Martial Artist) is more or less a variable, who I play around with each run, I've been dying to try using a Merchant in a serious run, a female merchant looks like Bulma in Dragonball!

I like turning combat classes into sages. I have never turned a warrior into a sage, but I've turned a martial artist into a sage once or twice. Martial artist!sage is agile, so they often cast magic first, and they are powerful for a magic class, especially since as a sage they can equip some decent swords. The only downside is lower MP, but they are versatile in other ways.

I'm iffy on turning mages and clerics into sages, since they already have half of the skillset they would be getting as a sage. You can turn a cleric or mage into the alternate class. Though I kinda don't like mages in DQIII, so I don't really like turning my clerics into them. I'd rather turn a cleric into a sage than a mage, though mage into cleric I think is easier.

Sorry about the late responses. But yeah playing with different class choices is very fun to do. So anyways thanks for your responses Hassan and Tiki. Those are some very interesting choices...

I'd imagine class changing the cleric as the sage would have pretty nice mp and such for spells.

Martial Artist sage sounds like it would certainly be great for the quick casting. And they could fight well to boot as well... I'll try it out when I replay the game someday. As well as the female hero, since I went with the male hero this time.
