Aim was carefully taken in the cold, January air of Destiny City. A once in a lifetime shot, Zia had carefully crept along to fall in to this golden opportunity.

And with one decisive movement, catapulted The wrapped dollar menu cheeseburger straight into the back of Dark Mirror senshi Sailor Orpheus' head.

"Ha, and the stalker gets stalked. How 'bout them apples?" She teased, although fully aware with his heightened senses he might've known she was creeping up on the poor senshi all along.

Patrol had become a rarity in the last several months. Their meeting place and all their research materials had fallen into neglect. The blankets and futon nest where Zia used to hide from the world hadn't been used since she found a stable apartment, and she had been physically incapable of patrolling for most of November and December, only to have her attention taken up by the two amnesiac knights she felt personally responsible for in spite of logic saying otherwise.

Before she knew it, time had come and gone and she hadn't used any of it to pester Orpheus, even if Pascal had gotten a drunk text booty call a little after midnight on her birthday.

Zia usually came bearing gifts when she was feeling like she had been neglectful, unfortunately cheap, greasy fast food was the extent of her generosity for the dark mirror senshi. That way if he wasn't around or proved unfindable she could just secretly eat it all herself no sweat.

"Are you okay? Still alive? Still in one piece? Any new developments?"

Whether or not Sailor Orpheus had realize that Zia was behind him was questionable. He didn't make any body language that suggested he did but neither did the senshi seem surprised when a cheeseburger hit his back. It was a pretty good shot even if she had been aiming for his head. Could he be the living dead? He didn't even seem to respond when that oh-so-familiar voice of the one that was thrown away rang through his ears.

He hadn't seen Zia much outside of their bootycalls, and despite actively engaging himself with her body, his heart cringed and called out to her.

"Unfortunately, it seems I am still alive," said the zombie, his arm falling to his side to pick up the cheeseburger. Like a bloody piece of flesh torn off the arm of today's dinner special, Sailor Orpheus unwrapped the cheeseburger and shoved it into his face. Maybe he could eat his sorrows away?

Zia practically skipped to his right side instead of doing her usual creepy thing and dug into her bag of shitty fast food to find her own sandwich to stuff her face with.

"Cheer up," She said with her mouth full. She was still disgustingly optimistic, coming fresh off witnessing two purifications in a row. Even if they had consequences they affirmed her theory that with enough power, anything was really possible.

Maybe even putting the life back into an obnoxious zombie like Orpheus.

"I guess this means you haven't found out anything new, then," She said, needing to pause to gulp down her food and focus on maneuvering it so she didn't choke.

And then there was just silence. She wasn't sure if she should tell him about Realgar and Mariposite's purifications. While initially she'd planned to, just to assure him such things were possible, his sulking demeanor felt like it was just rubbing it in his face. 'Hey these guys escaped their tormentors and captors but I'm still pretty sure we can't do that for you, yet.'

So for a long moment she just kind of stood there with her mouth pressed into a straight line while she searched for something else to say.

"Anyway! Sorry I haven't been around to patrol so much, I've been under the weather." She kicked the heel of her leg that had needed stitches against the ground. "Negaverse general thought I had one too many legs and kindly offered to remove one," She said with an awkward laugh. "You should see the scar, it's gnarly."

Sailor Orpheus had always worried that something was going to happen to Zia one night and as Zia continued to speak it turned out that her absence had been exactly that. Between the burger and his mouth, a smile creeped up onto his lips before disappearing again. He didn't like the fact she was hurt but he couldn't help but feel a bit of 'I told you so' in the irony. Who could pass it up?

"I feel like an 'I told you so' is in order here but my mouth seems otherwise engaged."

Nope. He just wasn't up for it. That's probably because there really wasn't anything new to report about anything. The answer was clear the way he used the food as a comfort and his body as it tried to conform with the cheeseburger and disappear from this realm.

"He's the one they set on fire during Operation Rota, I think," Zia said with a casual shrug as if that explained everything and bit into her burger. She only acknowledged his 'I told you so' with a roll of the eyes.

"He hates Ares, but I wouldn't recommend going and trying to make buds, since he'll probably react to you like I used to, except he has knives."

There was a weird moment when he said his mouth was otherwise engaged and she reacted with a flirtatious hip check and eyebrow waggle before she remembered who she was with, and remembered that it was probably bad company to let her desperation leak into her flirtatiousness and let it get the better of her.

She let him have a brief moment of piece before she started digging around in her bag for fries.

"Hey, remember how we ported to Alfheim? With m--... with that knight?"

If Sailor Orpheus was a dog, his ears would have perked up with a sense of interest as Zia spoke about an Operation Rota and this guy being set on fire. Senshi did that? Well, he wasn't completely surprised. After all, Ares was a crazy b***h. It seemed likely that she'd be willing to go as far as set someone on fire. He grunted, a seemingly acknowledging response with little character.

He dwelled on her comment for a bit, slowly chewing the burger until he felt her hip hit his. Coughing a bit, he quickly tried to finish up his cheeseburger before it became his instrument of death. It took a minute to swallow the rest of the burger and he had enough time to ponder on his thoughts and hers. He knew how she felt, and although she was friendly enough now... nothing had really changed. Right?

"How could I forget?"

"I know the Surrounding was a bad experience," She said, rolling back on her heels as she busied herself pushing apart the layers of her food with her fingers and looking like she was suitably aware of what a shameful understatement that was.

"And Alfheim was just a some ruins on Earth we teleported to but... Do you like space? We could probably go somewhere else. Maybe not Saturn, it's super creepy, but..."

She shrugged a little, avoiding eye contact and mostly looking down at her food and feet. "You know, there's more to the universe than being stuck here."

His body tightened up at the mention of the Surrounding, his fingers digging into his leg before they began to thumb against his thigh. He used to really love the idea of space and exploring it but since that experience happened his view on everything had become hazy. Before now, the idea of space and traveling there, escaping Earth would have been very tempting. Now? He worried things could possibly be worse there than here.

"A nice idea in theory," he said, shifting his body away a bit.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't try to push it," Zia said with her head hanging and still avoiding eye contact. Bringing up the Surrounding to him was likely similar to bringing up Tartaros to her.

Horrible, life ruining circumstances and all.

"I'm sorry I've been so mean to you," She mumbled eventually after a long pause. "Well, not the book throwing and slapping because of all the creepy s**t but I mean..."

The not-considering-him-a-basic-sentient-human-bit. Even if she still considered him a zombie, he wasn't a willing zombie, just a victim.

"I don't think you're disgusting. I shouldn't have ever thought that."

Liar. Although in theory it was a nice thought. She was disgusted with him as an extension of her own self loathing, which was probably why her nausea at his presence had eased as her self esteem steadily rose. But seem down inside, somewhere, she still hated what she was. And he was too similar to let that go.

But it was still a nice thought, that she was capable in an alternate universe of accepting both of them for what they were.

"Maybe someday we can be friends?"

Sailor Orpheus' expressions shifted from uneasy to uncomfortable as his mind wandered to the subject of his creation. He often wondered what would have become of his life if things had been different and that only fueled his hatred for everything he was. He could have been living a normal life but instead he just wanted to hide under a rock and die.

Zia only made that feeling worse.

Out of everyone in this city, she was the only one he wanted to not look at him with the eyes she looked at him with. Even when he was Pascal, sometimes he felt those eyes on him, and it slowly drove him mad. How could he have been with someone who loved one side of him but so openly hated the other side of him? He was certain that was what tore them apart.

He was shocked, to say the least, when she apologized to him.

He didn't think she'd ever have said what she said and with his mouth left ajar, he was utterly speechless. Out of everything he prepared himself for her saying, he never even considered that an option. With no words, the dark mirror senshi closed his mouth slowly before anything flew in and then shifted his weight.
