Don't let another person's small, thoughtless comment ruin your entire day, Aries. People may be a bit stingy with everything from money to emotions to time spent with loved ones. The more you tell someone else that they're wrong, the more that person is going to reject your advice. In general, this is a good time to simply stay out of other people's way.
Ever since coming to college, Talia had been intensely interested in horoscopes. She'd installed a little app on her phone and occasionally checked it in between classes. She didn't take too much stock in it- she wasn't one of those creepy people that shaped their entire life around horoscopes, but it was definitely more interesting than listening to the local tweaker ramble in the corner while she waited for class.
Today's was about watching out for people that could hurt her. It seemed sort of strange considering she was only one semester into college and hadn't met anyone that really could harm her. There had been some parties that were a little dangerous (she kind of liked those ones) and some of the freshman get-togethers where she'd made some friends, but overall there wasn't really a ton of people she could feasibly see hurting her.
Then again, it seemed like the advice was more directed at her own attitude. She was supposed to stay out of peoples' ways? Had she been getting in anyone's way? Well, she'd invited Dom out to go running- did that count as getting in someone's way? Or maybe this mystical horoscope was trying to warn her that Dom was EVIL!!
Talia cracked a smile at the idea of Dominic being a negaverser, or that her horoscope was even capable of being a harbinger.
Someone near her began talking loudly on their cell phone and Talia scowled. She really hated people that didn't respect personal space- even Talia knew when to be loud and when to stay quiet. She tried to ignore it- and it worked for about a minute- but when the person started laughing loudly, she felt the veins in her head twitch with annoyance. "Could you try to talk a little quieter?" she requested.
The woman looked somewhat offended, and continued talking, albeit a little bit smaller. So it was at least a small victory.
The bell rang and the class had finally begun. Talia filed in to the classroom, taking a seat near the middle. It was then that she realized the woman on the phone had followed her in, but hadn't sat down. As more students filed into the room, it dawned on her.
That was the professor.
Talia wanted to melt into her seat with embarrassment. She'd offended the woman who was going to control her grade. Oh no.
Well this was certainly a terrible way to start off any class. There was nothing she could do at this point but grab her notebooks and try to be as forgettable as possible. When she reached into her bag, she noticed her ivory-colored phone sitting in the bag, with the app for her horoscope still open.
Maybe there was a ring of truth to them?
