A number of the other undead students and their guest had chosen to wander around the Ruins in small groups, which proved to be a rather fruitful idea. It would have been too cumbersome to trudge around the buildings as a large group. This way, TK could explore more quickly or at a more leisurely pace depending on how keen he was to walk around. As students gradually filed out of the train, TK gladly stretched out his tired bones, returning to his full height. He took the opportunity to stretch out his limbs, glad to fully extend them after so many hours cramped on the train.

Nearby, he spotted a herd of mounts. He squinted his glowing eyes, leaning forward slightly to take in the minipets’ large size and saddles. His gaze trailed over the neon sections splayed across their bodies. TK frowned, considering the mode of transportation, but turned toward Mea and ultimately suggested, “How about we walk around on foot? I feel using a dune buggy may have potential problems.” He left the problems rather vague, but he seemed to sense that their playful demeanor would lead to certain consequences he would prefer to avoid. “Where do you want to start?”

Rolling Prompts

1

Your foot steps down on something solid and a hollow clang sounds. If you brush away the sand, you'll find a hatch of sorts that opens to reveal a ladder leading down, down, down into an underground bunker. A glassetta firefly glides slowly through the room, casting shadows that shift with its gently bobbing lights. Against the far wall a figure in a hooded cloak and gasmask sits quietly amidst a pile of items and curiousities. Should you come close enough, you'll hear their voice croak softly, "You here for a game?"

Taking off a battered glove, they remove the joints of two skeletal fingers and toss them at your feet. "Play."

You hear a sharp crack from above! A section of metalwork from a building hurtles down at you!
Roll 1d10 to escape. 5 and higher is successful, 4 and lower it hits your character, injuring them.

3

You hear/smell/taste moisture somewhere nearby. Through careful searching, you discover a small grotto in the center of an old subway station.

A figure dressed to blend in with the area suddenly appears behind you and then all goes dark. You wake up an hour later, missing several items. They leave behind a Terminus Token, a crude smiley face carved into its the back.

You enter a tunnel covered in graffiti and the smell of fresh paint leads you to a wall of stark, black writing.

A series of neat, careful hashmarks accompany the message.

You discover the corner of a tilting building peeking through the sand. A single window offers you entry and leads you into what remains of a large art museum. Many of the remaing pieces have been broken or vandalized. While wandering its galleries, you find 3 Terminus Tokens.

Mea followed closely to her fearless leader as they moved out of the train and she stretched out with a loud "Mhmp!" sound. Hurriedly she followed after TK, happy to be moving again. Sniffing the air made her recoil. What an odd smell in the air here! Humming happily she hopped over next to him, looking ahead at the mounts.

"Mmmmm." She said, putting a finger to her mouth. It was a sign she was thinking a bit more sinisterly about the mounts which had nothing to do with riding them. The ghoul took a step towards them and stopped at the suggestion, twirling with a jump and nodding to him. "I would like that a lot!" Then I won't be that distracted. She thought, though not entirely sure WHY she thought that.

"Oh, um um um um!" She began slowly, looking around. Grabbing a hold of TK's hand she moved slowly, looking over the area and smiling at the vast differences. "This is very interesting!" Taking in a deep breath. "But doesn't taste very good." The ghoul added before stopping. "Hey what's that?" She said, pointing at a building popping out of the sand. "Come on!" She said again with a giggle, pulling him along.

"I bet you know more about this place than I do, huh huh?"

She made a sound, and when he twisted his body around he saw the ghoul with a finger to her mouth while she intently eyed the mounts. It took him less than a second to guess what kind of thoughts were swirling in cranium, but rather than protest he smiled helplessly and waited patiently for Mea to come to her own conclusion. Pleasant surprise distinctly marked his features when she opted not to take the mounts, but soon he smiled. Maybe for once she would be able to not focus on food and fully take in the city and ruins with him. “Alright then.”

“Hm?” He felt himself be tugged forward, but it was quickly growing to be a typical occurrence. The sensation was beginning to become familiar to him as he hunched forward and bent his knees as he walked to try to match her tiny stature. The skeleton paused when she appeared to taste the air, but he supposed there were certain parts to allow for that. She dragged him into a window that lead to parts of a ruined gallery. His eyes seemed to glow brighter as he stepped forward. Instinct told him to not touch the paintings, but they were already destroyed from time. TK tentatively reached out to brush his fingers over the canvas.

“Unfortunately, I failed to find the time to do proper research on Terminus,” he admitted. The building appeared to lead into a tunnel with words splayed across its grime-covered walls. The writing is black and stark, but the words pique his interest the most. “Huh.” His expression turned thoughtful. “A curious message. I wonder what the context would be,” TK mused allowed before turning toward Mea. “What do you think?”

After they had gone inside Mea coughed a bit and looked around the strange gallery, hopping over a few rocks to get a better look. The paintings did interest her and she looked at them carefully, putting a finger in her mouth thoughtfully before moving back over by TK. What an odd thing to just find somewhere. The petite ghoul moved after him curiously, hopping after him but stopping soon after, staring at the words in curiosity and confusion, sniffing at it.

"Well it doesn't seem old." At the thought she moved closer to him, grabbing onto his hand. "I don't really think I like it." She said in an unusual steady tone, tilting her head one way and then the other at it and she shuddered. "Yup!" The ghoul said, walking away with it TK in tow slowly before sniffing at the air again. "Hey!" She said, looking at him with excitement in her eyes.

"I smell water!" She bounced and giggled, pulling him again until they were both walking together. The mouryou continued to sniff and lead him, but looked up at the tall boil occasionally. Holding onto his hand made her feel better in a foreign place like this certainly, but just seeing him made her smile. It was rather odd to her but she shrugged it off and went back to humming.

After a while the two came into a subway station, or what had once been a subway station. "Hmm?" She hopped forward, releasing TK's hand and standing on a rock. "Here, come look!" Mea waved him on, leaning over and staring into the pool of water. "Think we can drink it?" She wondered aloud.
