There was a certain girl Lex hadn't seen in quiet some time, a girl who he placed a lot of value and affection in. She was petite was obsidian hair, sapphire eyes, and a constant smile that never failed to cheer up his day. Eva, his 'little sister', was the target of the tall man's intent.
It was no surprise that they'd been missing each other, due to all the distractions and mayhem that had enveloped Deus lately (when was that anything unusual?), but this was long overdue. His strides led to the young woman's door, where he stopped with a chipper smile and a bounce in the ball of his heels.
He knocked twice, clearing his throat. "Eva~! It's Lex!"

Whenever Eva felt like she was getting better, something would abruptly shoot her feelings down. After her initial confrontation with Otto, she had felt like she was at her lowest, but then Wilson and her encounter with Jack had managed to lift her spirits. Can then the inevitable “down” in her mood after her argument with Nevada, and--
…Honestly she was a little tired of it all. She was angry, upset…but at the same time, had found that sitting around and moping only made things worse. Lately, the only thing that was helping her release her frustrations was bashing at the dummies in the training fields, but even that only helped so much.
Still, it was better than wallowing pitifully in her own misery. Putting on her coat, the woman was just about to head out when she was startled by a knock on her door, which was then followed by a familiar voice. Pausing, she considered her options before unlocking her door and peering out. Upon seeing Lex, a small smile touched her lips, though it certainly lacked the cheer that it usually would have possessed. Her greeting was just as uncharacteristically bland.
”Hi Lex. What’s up?”

Something was off about her. Lex's brows shot up as soon as he didn't get the expected hug, and then furrowed when she didn't have a giant smile on her face. Something wasn't off - something was definitely wrong.
"Well, not much. I've just been looking for you." He leaned in a little, tapping her nose with a smile. Maybe he'd woken her? That would cause a bit of grumpiness, he supposed. "I didn't wake you up, did I?"

She blinked in surprise at the gentle tap to her nose, and it was at that moment that she realized that she was probably acting completely out of sorts. No doubt Lex was confused by her dull greeting, and in an attempt to amend this, the woman offered him a faint, apologetic smile and reached out to give him a hug. As soon as she drew back, she let out a quiet sigh.
"No, no, you didn't wake me." She assured him, lifting a hand to wave it dismissively. Honestly, he might as well just be upfront about this.
"Pupp--Otto. Otto and I broke up." Eva allowed a moment to pass so that this could sink in before adding, "You wanna spar with me? I was about to head off to the training fields anyways."

The brief hug was appreciated, but Lex still felt incredibly uneasy about the entire situation. If Eva was sullen, then the world was obviously going to Hell a lot faster than he'd ever predicted.
After her reasoning was given, Lex balked for a moment or two. Otto and Eva broke up? Why on earth would... "Oh, sweetie..." Lex managed to soothe out of his suddenly tight throat, placing gentle paws on her shoulders. "Do you need anyth-"
Spar? She wanted to actually fight? Oh, oh dear Lord this could get bad quite quickly. One, Eva was the same rank as him, but a whole person less in weight. Two, Lex couldn't bring himself to even give Eva a good slap on the back. Three, Lex really didn't feel like peppering the girl with bullet holes.
"Eva, I don't think you want to do that. Taking your anger out on things never turns out well for anyone..."

Eva held up a hand to stop the man, quick to try and assure him. ”I’m not taking my anger out…so to speak. I just have some extra built up tension I want to get rid of. Gale received the worst brunt of my frustration by sparring with me a little while back, but I’m still feeling a little off, so…” So the only thing that she knew to kind of work was beating at things. She figured it was better to do something at least somewhat productive with all that built-up stress than just lay around.
”You don’t have to come,” She told him, and it was spoken in a simple manner rather than with any sort of curtness or attempt to guilt-trip, ”Though I have to, otherwise I’m pretty sure that I’m going to go crazy sitting around in here.” It was such a poisonous environment to lay in the dark with only the company of one’s negative thoughts. She needed fresh air and a little sunlight if she wanted to air out her mind a little.
Stepping out of the room and inevitably pulling Lex with her, she shut the door behind her with a little click. Tilting her head back to stare up at him then, the girl blinked.
”If that’s all…I guess I’ll see you later then.”

Lex crossed his arms and gave Eva a quizzical look. So Gale had already taken the brunt of her frustration? Well, he supposed that was a good thing. If Gale was still standing, and Eva was still unbruised, then it couldn't be too bad to indulge her in a spar.
He tailed after her, deep sigh emitting from his chest. He'd do anything for the girl, it seemed - even if it meant inevitably wounding her in some way. "Fine, fine - I'll spar you if it helps. I could brush up on my battling anyway, I guess." He shrugged, now up to a pace that kept him side by side with her. "I just hope this is really what you need."

”Oh, it is,” She assured him automatically, feeling rather strongly about the fact that she really needed to swing her staff around for a little bit. That being said…
Coming to a sudden stop, the girl released a long, loud exhale. Lifting a hand, she combed her fingers through her hair before giving a little shake of her head. ”Sorry for being curt with you, Lex. I just…hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhngh, I feel so frustrated right now. Better than I was before I caught Gale, but…” Trailing off with a little shrug, she lingered there for a moment longer before starting to walk again, glancing briefly to the side to ensure that the man was following her. When the field came into view, she spoke up again, her voice softer this time.
”Thanks for humouring me, by the way.”

Lex shrugged for the final time in that conversation, letting out an exaggerated sigh with a quirky grin forming on his face. "It's not a problem, Eva. Trust me, I deal with curtness all the time. I'm as used to it as I am the back of my hand." He joked, placing a large hand on her petite shoulder.
"So, how much did you mess up Gale? Not enough for Stormy to come hunting you down, I hope." Another jibe and cocky grin, trying to lighten the mood. "Don't bother going easy on me, by the way. I'm a little out of practice."
He hummed the rest of the way to the sparring field, where he took off his coat, folded it, and placed it on a nearby wooden crate. "Whenever you're ready."

Despite his attempt to reassure her, his words only earned a faint frown from the young woman, which was soon after followed with a quiet murmur. "Maybe so, but you shouldn't have to be used to it." After all, that just meant that he was frequently on the receiving end of rude and curt people. That...wasn't exactly a good thing, to say the least, and the last thing Eva wanted to do was add to that pile of difficult people that he dealt with.
His next words, however, did earn a semblance of a smile from her. "You don't honestly think that I won against Gale, do you? Even in my state, it was a fair, all-out-battle between the two of us. He's as skilled as ever." This was said with a hint of amusement, but then she hastily gave sharp shake of her head, stepping back.

Lex choose to ignore her complaint, only smiling it away. Yes, he shouldn't have had to deal with rude people on a daily basis - but he did, and that was that. He never admitted to enjoying it, and he never would.
"Eva dear, I'm sure you could take out Robert if you were mad enough." He concluded, summoning his pistol and back peddling to gain some distance.
She nodded at him, and he began with a few rounds shot near her feet to get her moving.

That got a bit of her a smile from her, though she hastily shook it away as the battle began. Wincing as one of his bullets grazed her--not a good start for her to be certain--Eva pushed through with Chara in hand.
With a quick sweep of her weapon, she struck out at Lex's barrier with the blade of her staff, returning the graze from Lex with one of her own.

Lex leaped back as soon as Eva made her strike, tsking at how open he'd left himself.
"Gotta do better than that, Eva. Come at me like I'm some sort of Reaper!" He shouted, goofy grin on his face. He wasn't necessarily a fan of sparring, but if it encouraged her? Well, then he'd take it.

Biting down on her lip in concentration, Eva lunged out again, swinging Chara out in a wide arc.
...Too bad she quite liked reapers (or well, some of the students she had met).

Well that was... hrm. Lex stared at Eva, pointing the gun at her feet and firing a few quick rounds, backing up slowly. "Eva, you're going to need to channel that anger in some way. Don't bottle, sweetie." He cooed, smiling despite the fact that they were sparring. "It doesn't suit you."
