Private RP for Theidren's Persephone and Angelique DelaMort's Amaranth Amora

User Image Amaranth Amora was flitting from flower to flower lazily making her way across the vast field of color. One of her favorite things to do was the shrink down to this tiny size and explore the world. She could only see so much when she was her normal size, no matter how she tried she always managed to miss the little details of the world, the unique textures of the flowers, the sweet scents of the pollen, even the sights of the local insect life that other soquili generally did not even notice, let alone appreciate. She could happily get lost in this world within the "normal" world. In some ways it was nice, it gave her an opportunity to drift away from her past for a while or even reflect upon those long ago events. When she interacted with other soquili she tried to maintain the cheerful disposition of her kind, light hearted, maybe a little flighty with her mind occasionally drifting off to other times and other lives. She did her best to let go of long ago hurts. She might have been damaged, but she wasn't broken. Despite her fragile appearance with gossamer wings and delicate porcelain hooves, she could be tough, even fierce if the occasion called for it. Not that it frequently did. She partially entertained fancies of venturing into places of darkness and shadows if for nothing else then to learn about the beings that dwelled there, but never seemed to actually do it.

She now glanced over at the edge of the woods. From talking with the soquili that called this peaceful glen home she knew the forest served as a barrier between this area of light and the darker areas such as the swamp and the graveyard. Those lands were populated with monsters, or so they said, but Amaranth remained curious to see the unfamiliar lands.

This day was turning out to be fairly bleak so far, or so the mare thought. Persephone stepped delicately through the dark forest making her way towards the tree line. The brown and strangely marked mare was searching for something but wasn't exactly sure what. She had spent a few days exploring some of the darker places the forest had to offer. Unfortunately whatever that thing was, was not found there. She had also stopped by the creepy graveyard, stopping to listen and hoping to meet the spirits. There were questions she needed answered. But no.....again they avoided her, probably laughing as they did so.

Persephone rolled her eyes and snorted at this. They couldn't leave her questions unanswered forever.. Could they? Carefully the mare picked her way through the thinning tree line, letting her eyes adjust to the bright sunlight as it began to stream through. Persephone gently teased herself for spending so much time in the dark places these lands had to offer. She might go blind in bright places if she didn't balance her time better. Giving a chuckle she stepped through and stood. Her front half in the light, while her back was stilled cloaked in the shadow of the forest.

The tiny flutter mare looked in surprise at the form that began to emerge for the dark wood. "That's...unexpected," she mused as her wings carried her towards the unknown figure. Like a moth to a flame, she thought to herself. That's exactly how I am with trouble. Oh well, as long as I can get myself back out of it, I guess that's the important thing. Some part of her brain scolded her for coming to such rash judgements. Just because the figure came out of the dark woods did not lead to this figure being some dark, malicious being. In her experience the real monsters tended to be most at home, out in the open, surrounded by others that they could influence and betray. This mare though, because as she came closer Amaranth could clearly see she was a mare, at least her front half, was on her own and seemed to be looking for something. "Um, hello?" the flutter called flitting up to one of the tree branches over hanging the new comer. She was brave, but it didn't hurt to take precautions. "Are you lost?" Amaranth asked tilting her head regarding the mare.

Suddenly she heard a voice, a voice which sounded far away. The mare looked around for a moment until she pin pointed the owner. A flutter mare stood perched on a branch above her. At least Persephone thought it to be a mare, she cursed her stupidity in her timing. With her eyes all wonky from the sun she couldn't be sure. " Oh hello there!" She mentally crossed her hooves and hoped she didn't mess up this encounter, it had been a while since she had spoken to someone living. " I'm not lost but that you for inquiring, I am merely taking in a change of scenery. Time has gotten away from me and I think I've spent too much of it in the dark parts of the forest." Persephone blundered on surprising herself. She have a squint up to the branch. " My name is Persephone might I ask yours?" the mare hoped that didn't sound too outdated, did anyone speak like that anymore? She definitely needed to spend more time in the light. Traveling the dark corners made it seem like time had been taken from her.

Amaranth smiled. No, indeed this mare was no monster at all. More of a lost soul than anything else, so sweet and unsure. She imagined in another life she was very much like that. "Persephone is a very sweet name," the flutter mare said flitting down to eye level with the mare noting her squinting into the sunlight. The transition from darkness to light can be quite painful at times, she thought to herself. "I am called Amaranth Amara," the mare smiled and added lightly. "Well at least that is my name. Often I am called merely Amaranth. And if you seek a change of scenery then your are not from these lands? "

Persephone watched with great interest as the flutter glided down like a leaf on a breeze from the branch. She was glad that she had not scared anyone off yet. The brown mare suppressed a shiver as the half of her not in the sun began to get a little chilly. Persephone adjusted herself as she listened to the other talk so most of her body was now standing in the light. "Amaranth Amara...I've never heard a name like that. It is very lovely." she had to say it out loud such a name rolled nicely. Persephone gave a gentle smile as the mare complimented her own name, it wasn't one she ever thought of as being sweet. She considered the question and wasn't at all sure what she should say. Persephone while only having known this mare for a few moments felt she was one you could talk to. However....her story was complicated and sometimes she did not feel like talking about all of it. "I am not originally from here no, it is perhaps a few days walk I think." Persephone glanced around her, her mental map of what she knew of these areas were a little rusty. " Are you from this area Amaranth?" she hoped the mare didn't mind her using the shorter version of her name.

Amaranth smiled sweetly at the complement to her own name. She knew it was unusual and old fashioned, but it suited her well and she appreciated the mare's kind words. "I'm afraid I am not from these lands either," Amaranth replied looking past the mare back into the dark woods. A few days walk through the tall trees was her home? she wondered. "The lands I come from are a bit more than a few days walk away," she explained thinking to herself it was more like a lifetime away. "I'm actually exploring these lands," she said gesturing to the field and forests around them. "Well, not exploring, exploring with a map or anything. Just, well, looking for new experiences. I thought those would be easiest to find in a new land."

She nodded gently with interest as the flutter said she was not from these lands either. Persephone had not met a fellow traveler before. The mare barely suppressed another shiver and decided to move all the way out of the shadow of the forest. Now that she was fully in the sun Persephone quickly began to warm up. It also helped to distract her from all the thoughts floating in the back of her mind. She wondered what Amaranth was out to explore, or just to see the land? Was she searching for something like Persephone was? " Those kinds of adventures are always exciting." Persephone smiled to the flutter. " I'm....looking for something...I'm just not certain what exactly, or the best place to look. a frown worked it way down her face for a moment before she quickly dismissed it. Persephone wanted to keep up their conversation. "Have you been about these parts for long?

((Sorry took so long! My brain blanked! >.<))

Amaranth shook her head slowly, "No, I'm afraid I have not been in these lands for very long at all." The little flutter considered the mare's words looking for something, but she didn't know what nor does she know where to look. Amaranth tilted her head in consideration, "It must be...difficult. Very difficult to have this calling yet not know how to answer it. I suppose you must travel extensively attempting to find what...maybe even who you are looking for." A wistful smile touched the corners of the the mare's mouth at the irony of the situation. Here she was seeking to forget her past, longing for some type of oblivion, and this mare was seeking something that she didn't even know that seemed to come from the realms of oblivion. "How does one even start such a journey?" she found herself asking aloud.

((No worries ^^ ))

There wasn't anything that Persephone could think of to answer Amaranth at first. " Aw jeeesh." she let loose and released the breath she was holding. How did one explain this crazy notion? " My sister and I were.....let's say..blessed by the spirits, physically speaking." She looked down at herself for a second before continuing. Our parents are normal, but I never felt like I belonged anywhere or in my family.....I guess I mean....I'm looking for the WHY to all my questions.? To answer your question ....you just keep moving on and hope to find something to hold onto. " Persephone looked at the flutter and gulped nervously. She didn't think she'd even spoken so much about her strange journey to anyone before, but for some reason she had spilled all her secrets to this mare. "But yes I do travel quite often." Persephone beamed at Amaranth.

"Oh my," Amaranth said softly, wanting to comfort this mare who seemed so weighed down by this immense task. "Yes, I suppose you must travel extensively. It must be difficult, not feeling like you fit in," Amaranth had some experience with that. Not that she always felt like she fit in anyways...but usually it was her own choice to move on from an area that she no longer considered home, she never felt the pressure from others, not really... "I suppose though you must see some amazing sights along the way?"

Persephone nodded as Amaranth asked her question, and strangely the mare felt….free….or at least like the giant knot she always carried in her stomach was feeling looser.”Mmhhm I do, I’ve traveled quite a lot.” The mare looked down for a moment before peeking back up at Amaranth.”Yes…it is very difficult to feel like you’re facing the world alone.”

Persephone was quiet for a moment as she let dark thoughts run rampant in her mind before she could reel them back and answer the mare’s next question” Oh I have!….Amaranth have you ever seen the ocean? It is truly an amazing site. she launched into an description of the ocean in her excitement, not giving the other mare a chance to answer.

"That sounds lovely," Amaranth said when the mare had finished her detailed description of the wonders of the deep. The place truly did sound lovely and she did envy the mare for her travels there. "To be honest I often find myself drawn to the lonely mountain tops, something about the peaks that rise up in their own solitude seems to draw me to them. But your ocean sounds amazing as well, I shall have to travel there some day. I wonder," she paused in thought for a moment. "Does it make you feel small to stand along something so immense, so endless?"
