A private RP between SnowLeopardAnthro's Blight and Novablu's Van. The ground was finally bare of snow in shades of browns and greens, but the wind was still cold and bitter, like a kalona’s heart. His hooves thudded over the earth, sinking into the mud a little bit before another hoof struck down. He didn’t mind the cold--his coat had grown in shaggy for the winter and it’d kept him warm--but he was more of a spring lover. The trees in bloom, flowers popping up in fields of daisies…oh it was just magical. So yes, he was a bit of a romantic sap. No, he didn’t care. Van knew that the only person he could be was himself, and himself was someone he was proud to be. He just…really wished someone else was proud to be with him. It’d been a long time since he’d had company of a familiar sort. Being raised a wanderer, a vagabond, it meant that he didn’t particularly mind being on his hooves all day, meandering from place to place without a destination, just with the yearning to run. He did, however, miss companionship. For awhile he’d hung around Anansi, a gorgeous spitfire, but she’d found companionship of the male sort and Van hadn’t felt the need to be a third wheel. So here he was, trying to make the best of every day, keeping his head held high even as the wind blew through his silver mane. The sunlight beamed down on his black pelt, warming him, and somehow he knew. Today was a good day.

Blight looked about herself wondering how she had found herself in this wasteland. After the snows had cleared away the grass underneath was brown and awful looking. She sniffed at a sprig of grass and felt her stomach churn at the thought of nibbling it. She was more of a fan of the sweet spring and summer grasses and found herself despising winter. Biting cold wind, snow to stumble through. It was just absolutely no fun! She sighed and wandered over to a leafless tree hoping its trunk would help break the wind that was currently biting her poor flank. No matter how hard she tried her body wouldn't stop shivering.
Ghost was hiding in Blight's mane at this time because he just didn't like the cold. He could feel her steady shivers and wishes time and again he was big enough to help keep her warm. He loved his sister and hated to see her so miserable. He made little noises to let her know she wasn't alone in the desolate winter wasteland.

Lipping the grass, Van meandering from side to side, wishing he was back near the ocean. He had fond memories of the water, the thick taste of salt to the air and to the grasses on the beach. They were absolutely delicious. Also, the memories of Anansi… He shook his head, refusing to grow sad over them--she was a friend and he was happy to have her, but he wasn’t going to mourn something he never truly had. One foot in front of the other, one day at a time. And heck, who knew--maybe someday he’d be bringing a girl home to share the beauties of the ocean and the froth of waves with her. They could spend summers together, laughing and loving and it would be beautiful. He had to hold onto hope that that would happen, as long as he stayed positive. Lost in his own thoughts, he was startled by the call of a raven flying overhead, the sharp caw-caw. The bird flapped heavy wings and Van reared up, striking the air with cloven hooves, and with a whoop of laughter, took off after the raven. The bird, of course, only scoffed at him and kept flying but Van didn’t care. Kicking up his heels like a young foal, he danced across the soft ground, his hoofbeats in time with his heartbeat. And he ran RIGHT past a pretty little thing of blues and whites. Whoa, there. Tossing his head, he turned a circle and shook off the energy until he was only several feet away from the mare, a respectable distance. He bowed his head to her, but the goofy grin he wore showed his true colors. “Hey there, pretty lady. You look cold.”

Startled would be the fist thing that came to her mind when the handsome young stallion flew past her evidently chasing a raven, but when he stopped and talked to her that was shocking enough. Most people didn't see the ghostly looking mare standing there and some that did mistook her for a real ghost and took off running the opposite direction. She raised one eyebrow at what he said and responded in kind, "I think cold would be an understatement... This wind is just despicable!" The shivers were coming faster now, she had to find something bigger than this tree to stave off the cold. Her eyes wandered to his strange but lovely markings, but she couldn't take her eyes off his tail. She'd never seen such a Soquili before!
Ghost heard the thunder of the hoof beats before he heard them come to a stop and reverse towards his sister. He climbed up Blight's mane and peeked his head out of the top of it, still hopefully unseen by the odd colored brute that was talking to Blight. 'Great! Another dumb fool trying to make a move on my sister!' He thought to himself. He hid again in the dark hair and plotted ways to run this new suitor off.

How one would be afraid of this little lady Van wasn’t quite sure; sure, she was pale and whispy and her wings were delicate things, made of gossamer and lace and almost ghostlike in their own way. As soon as Van passed her, he’d felt something, a tugging in the deepest part of his soul; that’s why he’d stopped. Okay. Well, that was partially true. He was also a bit chilly and lonely in his own right and maybe a little cheery conversation was just on the menu? Who knew. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare ya,” he said, an apologetic smile on his face. He looked up at the sky, filled with spotty grey clouds no doubt carrying snow. “I understand that---sadly it’s only gonna get colder.” His nostrils flared in the cold, puffs of white floating through the air like his very breath was the ghost of him. Flicking his leonine tail to the side, he watched the way she looked at it, almost spellbound, rapt by the one thing he’d been born with. He raised it and in an almost cat-like manner, touched the side of her face with it, a laugh on his lips. “You’ve never met a unicorn before, I’m guessing?” He tipped his head to the side, silvery bangs falling into his face.

Blight smiled at his easy going mannerism, but when he touched her with his tail she wasn't sure what to say. "You didn't scare me per say. I am just amazed that there is someone else out during this!" She paused as his question caught up to her, "No I've never met a full blooded Unicorn. I am a half blood myself..." She said the half blood part with an almost sadness tinting her voice. Many has chastised her over her not so pure lineage. She looked at him shyly, "Maybe I should start over! My name is Blight and its a pleasure to meet you." She reached back into her mane and plucked the squirming bundle that was Ghost by the nape of his neck and sat him on the ground in front of her, she continued "And this is Ghost, my little brother!"
Ghost resented being pulled out of Blight's warm mane and introduced to this ugly stallion. He glared at him with hatred pure in his eyes. Running back up Blight's leg he sat on her back between her wings and watched the unicorn with an intensiveness that would make any normal soq very nervous. "Nice to meet ya..." He said and the cold of winter was in his voice.

Whoah there, pal, he mentally chided, backing off a few steps and keeping his tail to himself. There, the perfect gentleman. He offered a grin, wagging his tail almost in a canine like manner. "Gotcha. Yeah, pretty bitter out here. You wanna go somewhere warmer? I kinda know of a place," he admitted, feeling a little bit sheepish at the fact that he forgot. Blight--somehow, her name both suited and didn't suit her at the same time. It spoke of darkness, of corruption and yet...she seemed bright, cheery, filled with life, not a disease eating away at a corpse. Why would her mother name her something like Blight. "Well I'm Van--and trust me when I say there's nothing wrong with being a "halfbreed"." He said the word carefully, not liking it. Everyone was equal in his book--even the baddies of the world. Kalona and the ilk. When she placed the little fuzzy--and totally adorable--creature at their feet, Van broke out in a wide grin. "Hey there, dude, the feeling's mutual," he said, oblivious to the fact that Ghost didn't like him. He backed up two steps, tossing his head. "You ready to get out of this weather? I can't promise you a mansion, but...hey. It's better than snow, right?"

Blight watched him as he wagged his tail and it brought a smile to her lips. Just his happy way of thinking warmed her. She'd never met a kinder Soquili. "I think you are the first I've met that has not judged me on my mixed heritage and I'd like to thank you for that." She smiled happily. "And I'd love to go somewhere warmer with you! Mansion or not." Her smile became positively glowing at this point.
'Is he oblivious or just stupid!' Ghost thought to himself. He'd have to find some way to get this idiot away from his sister. In his mind no man was ever good enough for Blight. He watched the Uni.. Van as he invited Blight somewhere warmer. 'The fool!' Ghost's inner voice crowed. It would be the perfect place to play a few tricks on him. Tricks were Ghost's way of making a stallion so frustrated that he showed his true self to Blight and she left. He started planning immediately.

Van meandered along beside the spooky, stylish mare, his tail carried low and nearly skimming the ground behind him, flicking every moment or so like a cat’s. At Blight’s words, he looked over at her, a grin stretching across his handsome face. “Really?” he asked, a little surprised that no one else was so accommodating to halfbreeds, but also a lot pleased that she was smiling at him and that smile gave him goofy little butterflies in his gut. Chillllax, dude, he chided himself silently, though his smile didn’t slip. YOU JUST MET HER. Don’t go all funky--repeat, do NOT go funky. Keep it chill or you’ll scare her off. Truthfully, Van was one to get attached quickly. Even to perfect strangers; it was a flaw of his and had resulted in, well…multiple failures at love. Especially the last one… Ouch. Shaking his head to shake the thoughts in his mind, he returned bright orange eyes to Blight. “Well you’re plenty welcome. And c’mon, I’ll take you there!” Tossing his head, sending his snow-damp silver mane flopping, he took off at an easy trot, hooves mushing through the layers of snow, softening his stride. He kept at a pace he felt she could follow, glancing over at her every few minutes to grin and encourage her, hoping her little ferret was a pro at hanging tight. And then they were there, a small indent of a cave into the wall of a cliff, going several yards in with a cool spring winding through the stone. “Here we are. Home sweet home,” he said, motioning to the small cave. His hoofbeats clopped and echoed around the cavern.

As she watched this easy going Stallion she was becoming intrigued by him. He was so laid back and fascinating. Not like that other one... Rhamiel was a sweetheart but his love was misguided. She had no interest in him as a mate. He was more a brother to her.
After they had arrived at the cave he called home she couldn't help but look about. She had never seen a Soquili call a cave home. Her own two-legged kept a teepee by a lake far far away. Looking back over her shoulder at Ghost she saw the poor thing was shivering from the cold. "It should be a bit warmer in here Ghost. You'll feel better soon..." She flipped one of her wings tighter against her side so it barely brushed the little ferret laying between her shoulder blades. She looked ahead at Van, "Your home is lovely, and you were right it is quite a bit warmer than outside!"
At this point Ghost was so cold that his teeth chattered and the result was he couldn't talk. When Blight pulled her wing over him his heart overflowed with love for his considerate big sister. She was always making sure he was okay, sometimes ever over her own comfort. That was the main reason why he always watched out for her, and made sure that no male used and abused her the way he'd seen other stallions do to mares. "No one will ever hurt you... Not so long as I am here..." He said under his breath so that not even Blight would hear.

All around the cave were trinkets and baubles, all of them shiny like they’d been polished to a fine shine. Among the things were necklaces of silver and gold, strings of beads and feathers, gems and pearls, even thinks like forks and spoons--like a Kawani-version of the little mermaid. Thattttt was another of Van’s downfalls--he loved things that gleamed and shone and sparkled, all of them. Didn’t matter if they were girly, didn’t matter at all as long as they gleamed. He was kind of like a crow, collecting things for his nest. This little cave was his treasure chest…and it wasn’t something he showed off that often. But somehow, he knew that Blight wouldn’t steal his trinkets. She didn’t seem like the thieving sort and once again he found himself gazing at her, a smile in place as he shifted his weight to get comfortable, watching as she conversed with her little ferret as if Ghost was her best friend, and it endeared him all the more to her. “Well thank you” he said with a beam, offering Ghost a grin all his own. He had no idea that the ferret was plotting his downfall--why should he? The little guy seemed nice enough and Van was a bit oblivious at times. “The farther we get in the cave, the warmer it is,” he offered, clip clopping a little further inwards. Then, as if satisfied, he nodded and let out a low chuckle. “So, Miss Blight--what brings you to these parts? I take you more for a lady who likes warmer climates, but maybe I’m wrong.” His orange eyes twinkled like topaz.
