XXXXXXXDevil on the Doorstep
Curse gave a soft growl as Book flicked back and forth behind him. The tail, his tail, was being unreasonably sassy tonight. He pulled his hand away from his side, the warm sticky feeling making him snort. The smell of blood hung heavy around him as he eyed the gash in his side. He gave a low sigh and placed his hand back over it to stem the bleeding. This was just, glorious, really, how long had it been since he had messed up this badly? How long had it been since he had actually be stabbed? Awhile of that he was sure, he gave a soft sigh as he leaned back against the nearest wall. Shelter, and some first aid, these were the things he needed to find. He knew the security guard was bound to have called the police and all were bound to be out looking for him by now. Honestly, you think they could focus more on the important criminals and leave him the hell alone. All four of his ears pressed back against his head as his stomach rolled with the wave of dizziness that overtook him.
"Really messed up this time hmmm." Book stated, swinging his 'head' around to bump his 'muzzle' up against Curse's side. There was just something humiliating about being told off by your own butt. Curse gave a soft growl before looking off to the side. "I don't know what you are talking about." Curse snapped, the simple sentence taking more energy than it really should have. Now the real question was, just where was he going to go? He needed to find a place and soon, he turned to eye the door of the place he was currently leaning against. He could always try breaking in again, but that went so well last time.
Lucifer didn't get out much these days. He tended to sit around his home and simple care for the various potted plants he had lying around. Sometimes he wondered if it was too many, but then he'd think about what he'd do without them. In the end, it seemed he was adding more then he was taking away. Sometimes, Ariel would come around and save the place from becoming a jungle by adopting some for herself. He supposed, it had become a bit of a hording problem with Inuku gone and his daughter grown up too much for him to care for anymore. AS he was making his rounds, checking up on things he sighed. "You need to do something with you life Luci..."
He opened the front door, with the intention to water the plant son his front stoop when he noticed someone leaning against the side of his house. He wrinkled his nose a bit, he wasn't one for strangers hanging out. Just as he was about to ask the other to leave the smell of blood caught his attention and the small puddle beginning to form one his lawn. "PLEASE. Get inside before you ruin my yard." He huffed and held the door open for the stranger. He pointed toward the bathroom and made an impatient shoeing noise. "Get in the tub before you wreck everything please?"
Curse's head snapped so quickly to the side when the door opened he heard something pop in his neck. Book had conveniently gone silent as soon as the other had walked out. It was a very useful little quality he had, the whole not talking to strangers thing. Curse was just about to tuck some hair behind his ear, and explain to the male in a gentle yet smooth tone not to worry when he was being given orders. He stilled for a moment before a smile spread across his face and he gave a light laugh. His hand pressing harder against his side as he did so. "Alright, alright bossy." He stated his tone amused as he slipped up onto the front porch and then past his bossy little savior.
He was careful, doing his best not to drip on the floor as he slipped into the bathroom and over into the tub as he had been ordered to do so. He stood there for a moment before slowly sitting down leaned at a rather wonky angle so as not to put pressure on his abused side. Curse moved his hand to eye the spot for a moment, it appeared it was going to require some attention and soon. "Excuse me, could I bother you for a first aid kit maybe?" He called out, lifting his free hand to pull his hat off and sit it to the side. "I'm Curse by the way, it's a pleasure to meet you. Though I admit to wishing it was under better conditions don't you?"
Lucifer peeks outside as the other came into his home. He wasn't sure what had happened, but he never thought the worst of people. He assumed someone has tried robbing the poor fellow. he didn't really respond much to being called bossy, although he supposed his social skills were lacks without anyone around to get him out of his house. Had he seemed rude? he hoped not, especially to someone who did need help. Finally, after deducting that no one was following the stranger to finish off their work he shut and locked his front door.
Next, before Curse could eve ask for it, he was digging around for his first aid kit. He wasn't sure it had everything the other needed for the wound that he had. He took the kit into the bathroom and set it down. "I'm Lucifer. It's um, rather something to be meeting you. If you start cleaning it up, I have some herbs that will help it heal better." He gave the gentlemen sitting in his tub a good looking over, it was a stranger in his home after all. Then with a little smile, trying to be nice, he left to go trim some of his herbs up for that nasty looking wound.
Curse arched a brow as the other gave his name and the little smile before toddling off. Well now, wasn't this a curious one? Curse had met many people over his lifetime, from the snobbish, to the shy, and everything in between. This was just downright curious. If he hadn't just been offered a spot in the male's bathtub he would say the other didn't like him very much. Yet the way he was being treated spoke to someone of a helpful nature. Yet he seemed rather short and to the point, it gave Curse pause to wonder how one could be both. "So, Luci, make a habit of dragging wounded strangers off your front lawn?" He called out as he slowly began tending to his injured side.
"Don't get me wrong!" He called, his voice squeaking at the end due to antiseptic. "I'm glad for it, but most would have told me to get lost. Just a nice change of pace." Curse stated as he hissed slightly. It helped to speak as he was cleaning himself up, took his mind off of it. "So these herbs, do I need to drink them in a tea or apply them directly to the wound? As I'm about ready to wrap it up now and... yeah you get the idea."
For the most part Lucifer was ignoring Curse's yelling from the bathroom. He was listening of course, but he didn't reply really as he set to work grabbing what he needed. He did reply once, just to let him know that he should hold off on wrapping his wound. As the herbs were indeed applied directly to the cut. He didn't think they'd have much use in a tea, other then to just keep the immune system working. Maybe he could make up some tea. It couldn't hurt.
Finally, as he made his way back into the bathroom he set the little bowl of paste down. "This would be a first for strangers in my bathtub. And I did it more out of saving my lawn then anything else~." So maybe that was a bit of a lie. But he was always wary of strangers. Hell, he was wary of people he knew well. he took a clothe and dipped it into the little paste he had made. He wrinkled his nose a bit and then, figured he'd better ask permission before touching him. "Mind if I help?"
Curse gave a bit of a smile and shook his head, wasn't a very chatty sort was he? He gave a soft snort as he reached out to stroke Book's head. While strange he supposed to find comfort in your own tail, it wasn't something he could exactly change. Having been a living entity since he was born, Book was like his best friend. "Well I do apologize for messing up your lawn." Curse stated looking up at the other as he walked in. This was the first time he got the chance to actually look at the other for more than a few moments.
"Go right ahead." Curse stated as he looked the other over, moving slightly to give Lucifer better access to his side. "Thank you, I mean that. I promise to compensate you in some way for this." He stated rather softly as he looked down to eye the mixture. Book lifted himself up to flick his tongue out, tasting the air around the mixture. "Ah!" Curse gave a slight start before whacking Book on the head and pushing him down. "Don't mind him, he's just nosy." He snapped slightly glaring at his tail for a moment before shaking his head and looking back at Lucifer. "Sorry, I know that is probably startling. I promise he won't hurt you though." Curse stated with a soft wince and a little smile.
Lucifer shook his head a bit, he didn't need any compensation. He almost said that, but she supposed the guy probably needed someway to feel better about the whole situation. He tried putting himself in Curse's shoes and he figured he'd probably be saying the same thing. He went to apply the pasty herbs but froze, rather startled by the tail. The tail that had a tongue and sharp teeth. He hadn't seen anything quite like that before. It took him a moment, but with the words from Curse he shook himself out of it.
"Aha, I'm sorry. I must have looked truly freaked out there for a moment." He finally began to apply the paste, making sure it had a nice, even coating on it. "Sorry that it doesn't exactly smell like roses. And I'm sure it stings like a b***h~" Eventually he was satisfied with his work, sending a small thank you to his estranged mother for teaching him these sort of things. "Alright, you should be good to wrap it up now." He stood up, a little awkwardly unsure about what to do now. How long would he habor this stranger in his home? He certainly didn't want to send him out on the streets now. And well, he had just talked about needing to be more social.
"Um...so. What happened? If you don't mind me asking?"
Curse gave a light little laugh before nodding his head. "Yeah there for a moment you looked a little shocked. It's all good though, I know he can be a bit shocking." He stated giving a small nod before shaking his head and smiling. "Don't worry about it, it's stings, but you're more gentle than the nurse I usually have. So it kinda makes up for the smell and the stinging. So thanks." He stated with a light shrug as he moved to start wrapping it before stopping. "Ah, could you help me wrap it? I can't get it quite as tight as it needs to be." He asked lightly before giving a low roll of his shoulders.
"I don't mind you asking, it's not too interesting a story though." He said, a lie, not a big one but one that would probably be the first of many. "Wrong place, wrong time really. Normally I'm alright, kinda been trained in that whole hand to hand combat, self defense deal." Curse gave a light shrug, not exactly a lie. "I took a detour to get home, just wanted a change of scenery I guess. Ended up in an area I hadn't seen before." He shook his head and rolled his eyes at that before continuing. "Saw something I really shouldn't have I guess. Didn't look like much just two people talking. Then a third jumped me, we fought, he cut me and I ran like hell. Ended up on your lawn because my side was stinging something fierce." Curse gave a small smile and shook his head. "Didn't think my savoir would swoop in and grant me some sort of mercy but, here we are. So what about you? Live alone... with a whole lot of plants?"
"Yeah I can help you with that wrap." He gave a little nod and then took the wrap from Curse and started to bandage the other up as he talk about what had happened. So it had been as he'd suspected. You never knew what kind of people were lurking about. But of course, couldn't that apply to the stranger in his tub? He couldn't really think of Curse as being all that dangerous. He seemed nice enough, but he'd been called out on his naivety before. Which was one of the reasons he was such a shut in. He chuckled when the other mentioned his plants.
"Well, I used to live with my mate. But he kinda left me. Every once in a while my daughter is around. But yeah. I guess I have poor tastes in friends. It's not like they can talk back or anything." Yes, sometimes he could be funny. He tucked one end of the bandages into the other and gave it a little pat. "There I think that's pretty good. You can thank my mother for teaching me a few things."
Curse was thankful to have some help with the wrap, it hurt quite a bit to try and move himself around too much. He glanced up at the male once more before giving a small smile, his ears flicking forward, once set at a time to listen to what the other had to say. As the other spoke a part of him gave a little clench, it might have been his heart if he thought he had one. He liked to pretend he didn't. Amusing as it could have been a part of him was rather sad at the thought. To think his mate had just left him? Curse's second set of ears fell back against his skull.
"I'm sorry." He whispered softly before shaking his head. "I'm sure you did not want me to drag up your ditching mate." Curse shook his head before looking off to the side with a light shrug. "Still plants can be great fun, at least you don't have a talking tail no? You don't even want to know how awkward that can get with people." Smiles softly as he shakes his head. "At least plants usually smell and look nice and I shall have to send your mother my regards. After all she did bring you into this world and you saved me so. I'm sure I owe her something." He stood carefully, plucking his hat back up and placing it back on his head. "Hungry? If you let me I can whip us up something."
