The plan had been going so well... right up until Orah found herself standing outside the door to Björn's apartment with no idea how to get inside.
The plan, such as it was, had been to make dinner, pack it up, then sneak it into her friend's apartment and leave it for him to find later as a pleasant, hopefully appreciated, surprise. As the teen was not the covert type, it had not entered her mind that at some point she would have to get through a locked door... The idea of breaking in was appalling, so that left her with a problem she wasn't sure how to solve and still maintain the surprise effect she had wanted to achieve.
Glancing around the old Victorian-looking hallway, Orah hoped that no one else who lived in the building would come out and see her standing there awkwardly. Dressed in a soft purple sweater dress, leggings and winter boots, her hair curling below a knitted hat... her arms loaded down with bags... with so few apartments here the residents probably knew each other, which meant she would stand out for not belonging there and then the awkward question of why she was there would come out and... how embarrassing!
All she had wanted to do was surprise a friend and do something to repay him for the help and kindness he had already given her. Björn had claimed she had done enough, but Orah just didn't feel like she had... He didn't understand how much it had meant to her, how grateful she was... and more than that, she just wanted to make him happy. It was the whole drive behind everything she did for everyone... and here she was, stymied by a door. How disappointing...
Setting the bags of warm food down on the floor, the teen wrung her hands together as she had to face the only options she had... she could turn around and go home, wasting all the effort she had put into this venture... or she could see if Björn was home and be satisfied with half of her surprise. One option was far better than the other.
Reaching out, Orah knocked smartly on the door, hoping someone was home.

After having almost six months without any school, it was so difficult to adapt to his new schedule of activity. Get up, take the bus, the PUBLIC bus, get to class, sit there in uncomfortable plastic seats, subpar lunch, then a hike in the cold to get the last bus and make it back home.. Great gods, did he sound spoiled, even to himself! But he was adapting as best as he could, especially since he didn't want his roommate, Bjorn, to have to suffer from his constant confusion. It was so hard... And most of the time, he found himself alone. Half unable to understand the kids at the school, half embarrassment in his oddball habits..
The only comfort he found recently was in the cozy little home he shared with Bjorn. Sure, his roommate wasn't home right now, but this place just seemed to be enveloped in his warmth and kindness! If he had the choice, Nischal would never leave this wonderful warm place! Especially with as cold as it was outside. Alas, soon enough it would be time to go to school AGAIN. For now, he was happy, curled up on their shared couch.. Too bad there wasn't the handsome strong man there to keep him company. Oh just how bad he was!
As he started giggling to himself, blushing at his own embarrassment, there was a little knock on the door. It couldn't have been anyone he knew, he didn't know anyone! Maybe it was one of the many items he had ordered online as of recent for his home.. But all the same, he rolled off the couch, making himself proper and running a hand through his mess of curls, before bounding towards the door, and opening it with a smooth motion. No need to look, right?
"Hi, can I help you?"

Orah could hear someone moving around inside as she bent down to pick up her bags, a shy sort of smile spreading over her face as she waited for Björn to open door. Hopefully this wasn't too awkward...
When the door opened, the tall blonde man she had been expecting was actually a much shorter brunette with glasses. The teen mentally back pedaled as she was forced to come up with something to say to this stranger.
"Oh! Um, hi there..." She said as she put her bags down again and offered her hand to him. "My name is Orah Gowan, I'm um... a friend of Björn. He lives here, right? His message said this apartment, but maybe I got the wrong door..." Ah... that would be so embarrassing. Trying to explain what she was doing, and then going to the right door to do it all over again... The thought occurred to her that he had said he had a room mate, so hopefully this was him. Oddly, he wasn't what she had been expecting... when she actually stopped to think about it, she had sort of been expecting someone like Björn; tall, physically fit... not quite like the man behind the door.
"Would it be okay if I came in for a bit? I know this is a really weird thing to ask, but... see, I sort of brought all of this for him, and you too, since I assume you're his room mate right? See, he came to help me out at my shop the other day and I really wanted to do something to sort of pay him back for that." Hopefully, this guy wouldn't think her completely nuts and just close the door right in her face. Another thing Orah hadn't anticipated when she had planned this whole thing.

It was kinda obvious that this girl was a bit flustered about the unexpected Nischal at the door, but that was just fine. Her hand was taken by his in a firm grasp, and he offered her a sincere smile, and a little nod.
"Hello, Orah Gowan, I'm Nischal Dwivedi. Yeah, I'm kinda new here, eer, in a sense that I am Björn's roommate so you have the right place. You look a bit startled, Am I that surprising? I'm quite the shrimp compared to him, huh?" Laughing at the pickings of himself, he let go of her hand, heading back into the apartment and out of the way, leaving the doorway clear for the girl to enter.
"I honestly wasn't expecting anyone to stop by, but you're more than welcome to come in. It gets a bit lonely and quite around here. I'm rather new to Destiny City, and haven't met all too many people just yet. To have someone actually COME here, it's the most excitement I've had since I've moved in!" It was getting dark in the apartment, with the short daylight hours of the winter, so he went about flipping several light switches, from the hallway to the kitchen and the living room. After doing so, He went back to the kitchen, motioning to Orah to come on this way.
"Björn's a great guy; it seems hardly a wonder that he has such kind friends like you doing things like this for him. I don't think my dinner's are all that great, so I'm glad you thought of this! When he comes home, it's certain he'll be grateful for all of this, I know I already am."

Orah felt her hand wrapped in a warm grasp and she visibly relaxed, her smile far more open this time and less nervous. She was pleasantly surprised when he greeted her warmly and it went a long way towards make her feel more at ease with the situation.
"A little surprising, I suppose. But its not a bad thing!" She laughed as she picked up her bags and moved inside, using a heel to push the door closed behind her. Brown eyes blinked as lights came on and the apartment came to life. Somehow she had been expecting something more austere for Björn's home, maybe lined with weight lifting machines, but this place was far more homey and comfortable. Which, when she thought about it... did make a sort of sense. It reinforced some of the impressions she had gotten from him and she was glad to learn more things about her friend just by a casual perusal of his home.
"You're new here? Well welcome to the city! I hope you're settling in okay." Orah said as she follow Nischal to the kitchen to deposit her bags on the counter and start unloading the plastic containers. "Um... are you vegetarian? I know Björn isn't, but I am, so I made something without meat too in case his room mate turned out to not like meat either."
That was always the trouble with cooking for people you didn't know... you couldn't be sure what they would or wouldn't eat.
"If you do like meat, then there is enough here for two meals. I sort of wanted to cover my bases, you know? Its all mostly cooked, so it really just needs heating up to be ready to eat." The teen said as she folded her canvas bags up, surveying what she had on the counter. A couple of bowls in one stack and a couple of rectangular containers in the other, both still warm from her preparations. With her errand more or less completed, it gave her a moment to look over Nischal as she leaned into the counter, her bags tucked under her arm.
No, he wasn't what she had expected, but she was pleasantly surprised by how nice he seemed to be. It made her hopeful that maybe she could gain another friend.

"It's been entertaining. I started going to Meadowview the other day, and that was interesting. You wouldn't think that making friends was that hard, but I'm not so social with everyone anymore. I'm more of the 'open once approached first' kinda person." Wow.. She certainly brought alot.. And his stomach couldn't help but expectantly rumble, only loud enough for him to hear.
"I eat whatever I'm given, as I was taught to appreciate everything. But It's wonderful that you were kind enough to think it all through like this. Far more considerate than I would have been." Goodness, even through the containers, he could smell how delicious everything was! Or atleast he was imagining just how delicious it could be. Either way, there was food there, and it smelled great! And he was eager to try it out. But patience, patience! Bjorn should get her first before he just dug in.
"Will you wait for him to return? If so, I don't mind! I kinda was lounging around, staring into space, avoiding homework, typical evening things."

"Oh! You go to meadowview too now? You should say hi if you see me in the halls." Orah said brightly. She wondered if she'd seen him before at school and just not realized who he was... but it did make her wonder something.
"Um... I hope its not rude to ask. How come you're living on your own with Björn? Since you're still in highschool, I'm surprised you're not living with your family or something like that. I mean, there's nothing wrong with it!" She hurried to add, lifting her hands to try and appease any hurt the question might have potentially caused. "I'm just curious."
It was hard to imagine living away from her family, even though it had been something on her mind lately. Even if he was eighteen and legally able to live on his own, she was a little surprised he had moved out so fast.

"I most definitely will! For a while, I kept my eyes to the ground. Shy, I suppose, but I've since gotten over it." To himself, Nischal didn't looked any different than old Isha, and for a while, he supposed that if he had looked up, he would have been exposed as that lad. But his eyes had changed, and he just couldn't accept it in the beginning. No longer were they a pretty, soft blue, but a stunning gold, which shone as bright as the happiness that had welled up inside him from his defection. It didn't take all that long to accept them, honestly, and once he did, he found himself rather taken in by them, feeling attractive for the first time in his life.
"Oh, I saw him, he was handsome, and he offered me his hand and whisked me away to live with him in this glorious quaint apartment. At sixteen, you can still move out, as long as your parents consent to marriage." He paused for a moment, giving Orah a slight, lopsided smile, before chuckling and getting up to put a kettle of water on the stove. Even with the wooden stove, he found himself slightly chilly in the house, and to stave off the cold, what better than something hot to drink?
"As much as I wish it to be some romantic tale of finding my true love in Bjorn and eloping with him to a new city, it's nothing of the sort. My family agreed to my living arrangements with him, as they are still in India for now, settling things. I suppose you can consider me a foreign exchange student, but I've been here for a long time. They desired to return back to India, but I hardly remember that country, so I found someone responsible and kind, and he agreed to deal with me for a while." Going into the cabinet while the water slowly boiled, he pulled out his container of varied hot drinks, and held it out to her.
"If you'll be staying to see Bjorn, would you like a cup of something hot? Or if you want something cold, we have cold drinks in the fridge as well."

The young woman blushed as he described getting swept off his feet by the tall blonde and she smiled sheepishly. His explanation of the situation was a bit more realistic and she forced her thoughts away from day dreams of herself and someone special. That would wait till later.
"Ooooh, I see. That makes sense. I'm sorry you have to live separate from your family, but I'm glad you seemed settled in here, and happy. My mother was from India, but I've never been there. He brought her home to Ireland after they got married and that's where I was born." It was interesting to think their families could have known each other, even though realistically she knew India was a big place filled with a lot of people. The chance of two families meeting was low, but still...
"Um... actually I wasn't planning to stay. I just wanted to leave the food for you two, but its really nice of you to offer. You can keep the tupperware its in, or call me sometime and I can come get it." Reaching out to the tupperware in question, she put a forefinger on one.
"This one is twice baked potatoes with eggs, and this one is beef stew. If they get cold before you two eat them, or if you put them in the fridge, just put the potatos in the oven on the lowest setting for ten minutes or so. The stew can be put in a pot on the stove on a low heat for ten minutes, just to warm it up."
Hopefully the food she chose were good ones. It wouldn't work very well if it wasn't stuff they liked to eat. Or if she didn't make it right... hopefully that wasn't the case.
"Its been a lot of fun meeting you." Orah said finally, turning to Nischal with a warm smile. "I hope maybe I can hang out with you or Björn again sometime soon. If this works out well for you two, maybe I'll drop by again someday with more food." She laughed.

"Yeah, thank you. That's very kind of you. But I'm happy, no worries at all, yes?" he was actually quite surprised that she wasn't going to stay for a while.. But it was certainly okay for her to do so. Instead of protesting, Nischal pulled out his desired tea from the container, and put it back while listening to her talk about the food, and giving her glances, to make sure he knew what she was talking about.
"Ahh, that all sounds amazingly delicious." The Eggs and potato thing sounded just a little weird, but still fairly appetizing, and he made sure to keep a lid on what to do to heat them up. Hopefully Bjorn would be back from whatever he was doing before then, but if not, he'd know what to do. It shouldn't be that hard, right?
"It was a pleasure that was all mine, I assure you. I'd love to have you over again! It gets lonely here sometimes, so your visit was more than welcomed! Maybe next time you could come over for dinner, and Bjorn and I can come up with a way to fix something that YOU might like. Vegetarian though, right?"

Orah laughed softly at the thought of coming over here for a dinner the men made. It was a pleasure to think they might be friends enough for that sort of consideration.
"Yeah, I really don't eat meat. I mean, I can sort of eat chicken or turkey, but mostly I just don't like beef or pork. Its not really the typical reason that some people are vegetarian, but everyone likes things differently. I don't like meat, so I don't really eat it. I certainly don't mind making it for other people though!" Slender shoulders lifted in a shrug as she smiled, gathering up the bags she'd brought the food over in and sliding them onto her arm.
"I sort of know what you mean though, about it getting lonely when you're home alone. My dad is usually around since he worked the shop with me, but sometimes he'll take a trip or something, and then it's like I don't know what to do with myself, the house is so empty. My brother spends so much time out with his friends, he's not much help. But, any time you start feeling that, feel free to let me know... I always welcome company." The teen said with a smile. "I should probably be going now though... I hope you two enjoy the food!"
Orah wanted to offer the young man a hug, but wondered if maybe it was a little too soon... so instead, she offered him her hand, feeling a little shy.

"Typical or not, It's your choice, and anyone who has anything to say about that, well, that's just rude." Nischal, himself, was not a picky eater, and it was very rude to even think that Orah should be considered a picky eater just because she didn't like meat. He hated all sorts of things, and it was just natural.
"I'd love to have you over then! And yes, thank you so much for the food. We'll have not only are stomachs warmed up, but our very hearts, since we know this was made with such kindness as yours." Normally Nischal was very much a hug person himself, but seeing the hand offered first, he wouldn't push it too much either. Firmly grasping her hand between both of his own, he gave it a few shakes.
"The pleasure was entirely mine in meeting you, Orah. I truly hope that we can meet again soon."

Orah smiled gently as Nischal defended her choice of food. It was really sweet of him, if not needed. It just gave her a bit of insight into the type of man she stood in the kitchen with and she was glad of it. The young woman squeezed the hand she held as her smile widened and she tilted her head in a playful way.
"I know we'll meet again soon!" She assured her new friend. "And remember, any time you feel like having some company, just give me a call."
Hopefully, this was a start to a new friendship she would treasure along with the others she already had. One could never have enough friends.Cooro Cooro sorry this took forever! End? <3
