Anju was beginning to get more confidence the more she hung out with Hadeth and she was glad she had found this female to be her new friend. Hopefully they would stay that way for a while now. She had finally pushed away all memories of her hurtful past and had learned to just live for the moment, live in the now. Sure the past helps shape who you are, but it doesn’t define you. She looked over at the Leotah and she wondered what they were going to be doing today. She had just recently been caught up to speed on the Hybrids past and she had filled in Hadeth with hers. She didn’t break down in tears like she had when she had told that poor male a while back. That had been a rough day for her. At least she had finally gotten past her emotional baggage and was doing quite well now. She still wasn’t entirely sure about a lot of things but she was just going with it for now. She yawned and stretched from her tree branch perch. “What do you suppose we should do today?”
Hadeth looked over at the young leopard and smiled. She wasn’t really sure. The kill they had caught a few days ago was finally gone and they probably shouldn’t stay in this spot for too much longer. You never really knew what was roaming around these days. “We should probably find somewhere else to call home for the time being.” She said as she got up and climbed down the tree with a small thump as she landed on the ground.
Anju watched as her friend dismounted from the tree and she followed suit and crawled down after her. She had to agree with that logic, who knew what might decide to show up. She figured they could at least head towards some water. She was thirsty and the day was starting to wear on. “We should find some water before deciding to go anywhere.” It was definitely a necessity.
Hadeth smiled and followed the sherbet colored female towards the watering hole that was nearby. There weren’t too many animals around and everything kept its distance from each other, except for the pack beasts. They seemed to mill together in one section, not particularly caring, minus the shifty glanced towards the two predators. She would let Anju drink first and keep watch as she waited. “Do you have anywhere in particular you would like to go?” She asked keeping her focus on the area.
Anju approached the water and lapped up the water gratefully as she listened to Hadeth ask her where she wanted to go. She really wasn’t sure. She hadn’t really thought about it. Perhaps just travel about? She lifted her head from the water and came to a rest besides Hadeth so she could go drink. “I thought we could just travel, head somewhere, anywhere really.”
Hadeth smiled and walked to the water and drank it up heartily while she thought about the options that presented them. They could go anywhere really. She kind of wanted to head back to her home and see her family one of these moons, it was just a matter of heading that way and hoping they were around. “Well we can head wherever you want to go.”
Anju looked at Hadeth, wherever she wanted to go? Guess they could just head north. She hadn’t been that way yet. “I guess we go this way then!” She said cheerfully as she started in the direction she wanted to go. She was glad she had gotten to know Hadeth, it was a real pleasure. “If you don’t mind me asking, why did you leave home?” They never really had gotten down to the nitty gritty of why each other ended up where they had.
Hadeth looked over at her and smiled. Her story wasn’t as heartbreaking as Anjus had been. Poor dear. “I simply wanted to see what there was. I loved my family very much, especially my brother, but I was a curious Cub and now I’m here, with you.” There wasn’t much to her story minus the curiosity of a youngster that had led her to some interesting encounters. “We do have to be careful while traveling, while you may be alright alone, there are plenty of packs and prides that dislike hybrids unfortunately.” She might as well share that information now. It had been disturbing for her to find out there were such creatures out there, but it had been good knowledge to find out. It had made Hadeth a bit more careful where she decided to go.
Anju looked at her wide eyed. She hadn’t a clue either. She hadn’t been out and around much herself, so to hear that was unsettling to her. “I’m sorry to hear that. You’re a really nice Leotah. It’s sad that they’d judge you by your birth rather than anything else.” She hoped she didn’t ever run into anyone like that. She really wasn’t sure how she’d react. She definitely wouldn’t stick around for long. “Have you thought about finding anyone to settle down with? Like babies and all that?” Anju had thought about it at one point but after what had happened she was kind of against the whole thing for right now.
It was Hadeths turn to get a sour face. “I’m afraid I have thought about it, but it turns out I’m unable to have cubs. It’s a common side effect of Hybrids. Most of us are Sterile.” She was okay with it now, but she hoped one day she’d be able to adopt some that way so she could know the joys of motherhood.
Anju felt bad for asking now. She hadn’t known and actually it made her breakup sound small in comparison to having to find out news like that. She could see that Hadeth really wanted babies and she made a mental note that if she were to ever have babies one day she would give one, if not all of them to Hadeth. She wasn’t ready for motherhood just yet and probably wouldn’t be for a little bit. She didn’t foresee anything happening in the near future but it was still a thought. She wanted her friend to smile. “I’m sorry..” She figured they could change the topic now. “Why don’t you tell me more about your brother?”
Hadeth nodded a silent thanks for the change of topic and figured she could tell her about her brother. As they continued on their way Hadeth went into the tails of Hadeth and Hercules.
