"What...the..." SLAM. ..12:05AM Hey you free tomorrow?
..12:13AM Well?
..12:28AM ...Dom it's like barely past midnight, wtf.
..12:42AM Dude if you're seriously asleep that's pathetic.
..12:49AM Dominic
..12:54AM Dom
..07:37AM .....I may or may not have been a bit more than a tad buzzed last night sending all those. Oops.
Dominic gave an amused snort, as he often did when faced with most anything this girl threw his way, and quickly started to type out a reply.

Passed out last night. Haha...my bad. Free as a bird, though. What’cha want?

After hitting send and quickly replying to the other messages he'd gotten, Dominic threw the covers completely off of himself, immediately regretting his decision and, instead of cowering back into the sheets, ran for cover in the bathroom to grab a warm shower. The phone, no longer in silent mode, sat quietly atop the little mantle of the porcelain throne, though said throne’s lid was down once he’d finished using it. He wouldn’t be dropping his phone into this one anytime soon -- he was being careful, for once.

There might have been a tad excess put into place last night. A tad. There wasn't a raging hangover to be dealt with the following morning. No questionable decisions to reap the consequences of. Well. Besides the seven texts she'd sent last night. That had warranted an apologetic text first thing that morning, while she moved about slowly sipping coffee and staring warily at her collection of textbooks for the new semester. Yep. Classes were back in session, and Danika was none too pleased. Even with three classes as her workload--and only reason she grabbed the third was due to it being a night class, not interrupting her work schedule--she was still trying to best comprehend how to balance work. School. Themiscyra.

Yet not a single bone in her body was tempted to ditch any of the three. Damn.

Lips pressing to the ceramic mug, eyes narrowed over the rim, she jumped to suddenly hear her phone vibrating up a storm on the counter next to her. Peeking at the screen, she was a bit surprised to see the name on the ID. Glancing at the clock, she winced, set down her mug, and shot back a response.

Sorry if I woke you up!
Feel like spending a day surrounded by scifi, gaming, fantasy, and fashion nerds? Sort of mini-convention going on. Interested~? I'm buying, of course.

Being the one who was inviting him, it only made sense she'd foot any bills. She was leaving out how it was sort of a crafts fair, a place for venders to gauge early interest in new products before big conventions came back to town. But it was usually a pretty fun affair, and there were even non-themed venders there to sell various crafting materials. And enough fandom merchandise to attract quite a following of people. If you knew where to look for the announcements.

Setting her phone back to the counter, she flipped open her planner and peered over the assignments due throughout the week. Nothing... horrific. Yet. She'd just have to make sure she finished some chapter reading before her class that night... Or bluff her way through the class. Taking another sip of her coffee, she weighed the chances this professor would be the type to throw pop quizes.

As if the alarm didn’t do enough to wake him up that day, Dominic found himself without hot water that morning. It was a painful discovery that jolted him right out of whatever was left of his dreams from the previous night that he intended to revisit while under a soothing flow of a warm shower. Apparently the building’s plumbing decided there wouldn’t be any of that for him -- maybe he’d woken up too early for even the plumbing to work right? -- and so he rushed through the shower and jumped out, finding the temperature outside of the tiled enclosure significantly...warmer. Go figure.

By then there was already a text waiting on him to reply, so after securing the towel around his waist the teen nicked his phone off the toilet’s mantle and went straight to the message. The invitation wasn’t something he’d expected -- actually, he more thought she’d ask him for a favor somehow related to knighthood and other such business -- but Dom considered it for a second as he made his way back to his room to grab some badly needed clothes.

    No need, wasn’t your fault.
I am, sorta, but my senses tingle with suspicions of an ulterior motive…

The phone was then tossed onto his current mess of a bed while he dressed himself in a simple jeans, t-shirt, and hoodie ensemble, after which he hurriedly shoved his phone and wallet into their designated pockets before leaving for the kitchen. He figured he could put off cleaning until later that night. Or tomorrow...yeah, tomorrow worked just fine, too.

As he passed the door he caught sight of a small pile of books from the previous semester that kind of reminded him to go and buy his books for the coming one. He’d went ahead and metaphorically flipped off his dad by enrolling in more general ed. courses at DCU, and a part of him actually wanted to take the classes seriously this time. He didn't really have a major in mind yet, which was kind of annoying, but if it pissed his dad off that much then he was all for it.

His normally styled-up hair was kind of flopping about, flat and behaving rather well because it was still wet, as he made breakfast. Rather...he put it together? Cereal and milk: the breakfast of champions; Dom had even found an amusing video on YouTube to illustrate that point. The thought brought a smile to his face as he shoved a spoonful of Fruit Loops into his mouth, and he wondered for a second if he should make coffee or buy it somewhere.

Maybe Dani’d buy him a free cup if he agreed to go? Decisions...

Danika was still in the middle of a heated internal debate, really trying to gauge her chances here if she ditched her assignment for the day. It was just one class.... but she didn't need to be risking her grade so soon if he really did throw a pop quiz at them. She knew another kid in her class, worst case maybe she could ask him for a quick overview...

Her phone buzzed while she began moving around the kitchen, popping two sausage patties into the microwave while a bagel heated in the toaster. Cooking was not her expertise, but she could do pretty good given the heavy assistance of the microwave. Just... never expect any crust or anything to have a crispy texture. Ever. Mushy or bust.

Even though she did have an oven. And was fully capable of using it. She knew how to heat up soup on the stove-top. Boil water. That just was usually where it ended. Every now and then though.... Her thoughts snagged over how a local market was having a sale on chicken breasts, and it'd been a while since one of her siblings had been around to help her manage the oven to, y'know, actually cook something.

But the phone had buzzed. It was silent as she picked it back up, flicking through till she saw Dominic's response. Her brow perked. Ulterior motive?

Don't think anyone's asked me that one before.
    Alas. You've got me.
    Mwahahahaha
I'm a comic geek and I get my kicks dragging innocent boys into the comic underworld.

She paused for a moment, not really believing she sent a text like that to him before shrugging. Ah well. Her bare feet scuffed against the tiled floor as the microwave sounded the cooked completion of her patties, just in time for the toaster to screech and pop out her bagel. Tight cosmic print leggings clung to her limbs, a skirt layered over it showing off a picture of the Martian surface--as captured by NASA. The moment she'd seen the skirt, she'd snatched it from the display and couldn't stop snickering till days later. The sleeveless, starry print tank she wore was mostly hidden by the cropped leather bustier she'd decided was appropriate for the day. It was really just her hair and her shoe choice that were up in the air. A tad literally on the part of the former, as she'd only brushed it at this point. Throwing a bit of cheese between the sausage patties and squishing them between the slices of the bagel, she again eyed her phone. He wouldn't want to go... too soon, would he?

Reaching up to tug at her bangs, she grumbled and set her food down a moment longer to find her damn brush again. And a leave in conditioner.

Dominic was about halfway through his minimalist breakfast by the time she hit him back with a reply, and he nearly choked on a spoonful of cereal and milk when he read it. ”’Boy’?” Seriously? He spooned a bit more cereal into his mouth before replying.

Dude. I’m neither ‘innocent’ nor a ‘boy’, but whatever.
I knew it! Since you’re paying, though.. I’ll geek out with you, sure.
When and where, and you need a lift?

Not like he had anything better to do anyway. Dom set his phone aside, the date on the home screen still going unnoticed as he shoveled the rest of his breakfast into his mouth -- he opted to try and get Dani to treat him for a cup of coffee to make up for that “boy” comment. It didn’t really irritate him, per se, but...well, it wasn’t something he liked to hear either way. Least of all from a friend of the opposite sex.

The teen cleaned up what little mess he’d made in the kitchen -- something that only happened in the mornings because he was usually too lazy to try and cook anything. Actually, he hadn’t done much “food experimentation,” as a few of his high school buddies had dubbed the activity when he was involved, since moving in, though there was one instance with an unfortunate casserole that a friend still refused to forgive him for… Not important. On the upside, he still knew how to bake up a storm. Sort of. Cookies were the only thing he could manage, but it was something! Unfortunately that meant that most of the rest of his kitchen suffered from moderate disuse.

The dishes took all of five minutes to do, then the teen went back to his room to grab a pair of socks and a jacket. Dom would have left right after, but a glance at his bed and a few pieces of clothing haphazardly thrown made his eyes twitch, and the teen stopped to clean the room up a bit. She had yet to reply anyway, so Dom figured he had some time. It didn’t take all that long anyway…about ten minutes by the time he’d finished, and he scanned the room quickly before giving a satisfied sigh and heading back into the living room.

He was ready to go not three minutes later, and after he grabbed his helmet he plopped down on his sofa and turned on the TV, idly surfing through the various channels as he was wont to do while waiting for something. In this case, a confirmatory text.

She'd sped through her hair, applying ample amounts of the leave in conditioner, giving up and tossing most of her locks into a haphazard messy bun at the back of her head. That left a great deal of her hair hanging down her back and go wherever it may. She didn't have time to do anything real fancy with it. Orange and red eyeshadow accented her eyes, mascara and black eyeliner did the rest. A stick of cherry lip gloss was thrown into her purse after it was applied, along with her wallet that bore Batman's iconic symbol. Biting her tongue to keep from biting her lip--it'd only speed up the need for more gloss--she tried to figure what else might be needed. Cash was a check, so was her credit card if really need be...

Her attempted breakfast was already consumed, bites between brushing and fighting with her long hair. Picking up her phone again, she gave a snort at his rebuttal.

Wow did you just make that WAY too easy to say a few things....
    I'm pleading the 5th c;
Lift would be nice! Address coming next.

Well that was a nice offer. Curious what he'd be pulling up in, she shot him the apartment complex's address, and included the note that he'd have to drive around the building to find the parking lot. Along with the exit she preferred to use. The address to the hotel hosting the mini-convention she could just give him herself. Or hell, just direct him, if he was ok with a human navigator.

Nothing interesting on the tube, or maybe there was but he just wasn't really paying attention. Dominic had flipped past channel 83 by the time Dani hit him back with a reply, to which he chuckled as he got up off the sofa and shut off the TV before typing up a response.

Plead away, though.. well, never mind. ;]
Sure thing. See you in a bit.

And that was probably the end of that conversation, though there was that small, itty-bitty part of him that hoped that wasn't the case. Anyway, after giving his home one last glance-over to make sure nothing was seriously out of place -- and nothing ever was, so this took basically just one glance -- Dominic was out the door and headed for the garage. Her message with the address pinged his phone just as he started his bike, and he quickly googled the directions before slipping his helmet on and driving out. It wasn't a very long trip, though all the while his mind was suddenly reeling with recent events in his life that warranted some serious attention that he was outright refusing to give it. He'd done more work in trying to distract himself from paying any attention to the issue with his dad rather than trying to actually fix anything.

Soon enough he was pulling into the parking lot she provided instructions for locating, parking right nearby the exit she mentioned, though he let the engine run. It was pretty nippy out -- alright, kind of freezing, but he was in a jacket so it was a little more bearable -- and the warmth from the engine was welcome. He got off and removed his helmet, his eyes cast upward at the complex as he pulled out his phone to text his arrival. Once the message once sent he let out a huff, his breath coming out in a mist, and casually leaned on his bike to wait. Of course, with the quiet his thoughts started circling back to all his family dealings, much to his annoyance.

Waiting for him to arrive, Danika had snatched up one of her coats--her attire wasn't the warmest she could have done, let's be honest here--and slipped into flats. An action that made her smirk, thinking of how she'd been a few inches taller than Ashur in their first meeting. She figured this at least would put them on equal height, keeping herself at her five-foot-ten statue.

After a little while, her phone buzzed, and she abandoned the show she was barely watching to grab her purse and head down the two flights of stairs to reach the back parking zone. Stepping out into the brisk air, she'd expected to look for a car.

She hadn't been expecting to step out and spot Dominic standing there, leaning against a motorcycle. That made her pause for a moment, taking in the sight with an appreciative hum before grinning and moving towards him. "That is a pretty kickass ride," she laughed, arms extending on reflex to give him a quick hug--assuming he'd let her.

Pausing slightly, she raised a quick brow and shot to him, "So what exactly am I pleading here?"

That line he'd texted her was still nagging her. What'd he meant by that?

Her voice broke him out of his thoughts and Dominic glanced up from the mound of snow that he'd been blankly staring at for the past minute or so, a smile quickly replacing whatever frustrations may have been evident on his face. He lightly pushed off his bike and, when she was close enough, wrapped an arm around her, briefly pulling her into a hug as a laugh escaped him. "Thanks," he said with a grin as he pulled away in favor of grabbing the spare helmet hanging off of one of the handles. "Not the greatest for cold weather though, sorry. Or hair styled like that."

Dom put the helmet between the two of them, lifting his brows in a somewhat questioning manner as he leaned a little bit to the side to get a better look at what she was wearing. He couldn't not snort despite himself, and he flashed a toothy smile, opting to keep his thoughts to himself this time around. She was paying for everything today, if he remembered right; no point in getting on her bad side, or go overboard with any teasing, playful though it may be. What mostly stood out though, and it was something he caught when they hugged, was that he was actually taller than her this time around. Not by much, but it was something that might keep her height jokes at bay. Bonus.

To her question Dominic simply blinked for a moment, then shrugged as he normally did; the usual smirk was, however, still playing at his features. "The fifth, like you said," came his reply, though he had a feeling that wasn't what she was asking about. "Something about self incrimination, isn't it?" Yeah, he totally watched cop shows, too. Just...not very often, mostly because he'd rather watch Mythbusters or something along the same lines.

There may or may have not been an additional watt or two to her smile when he returned the hug. Preference for physical contact and all. "Nope. You've got me at a bit of a disadvantage here, that's for sure," she snorted, caught somewhere between laughter and the temptation to run back upstairs and change into an outfit more suitable for a motorcycle. She was wearing leggings at least, so her skirt was less of a problem...

His reaction to her attire made her lift a brow, eyes narrowed and lips pursed in a smirk. Though she noticed she was looking up at him. Through her lashes, so hey. Not the worst situation. It was mentally noted she could apparently get away with at least a slight heel now if the outfit called.

Danika laughed, hands going to her hips and rolling her eyes dramatically. "Yes, the fifth is to not self-incriminate. But that didn't seem to be where the rest of that line of yours was taking it." She lifted a hand to jab playfully at his chest. So maybe she had less reservations when it came to playing...

Still, she opened both hands for the second helmet, understanding it'd be for her. "You usually have passengers?" Curiosity and the cat and all that.

"My bad," he returned, though afterward playfully stuck a bit of his tongue out as he set the helmet lightly in her open hands. Actually, Dom was okay with waiting for her a bit more if she wanted to change or something, but they'd only be on the bike for a little bit so she probably didn't need to. Plus, he was running on the assumption that this convention or whatever was being run indoors, so it'd be plenty warm once they were there. "You'll just have to deal for a bit, then. I'll even give you my jacket for the ride, if you think that'll help at all."

His own hands had wandered to grip his helmet, and he was getting ready to slip it back on. Of course, not before she kept trying to get him to continue what it was he was planning on saying earlier. The jab got a chuckle out of him, but he only shrugged again. "It wasn't," he said with a wink, his fingers tapping a small rhythm into the helmet as he skimmed right over to her question about passengers.

He'd prolong that question for as long as he could, though he wasn't sure how long she'd keep pressing him for an answer. It was amusing, though, and exactly the kind of banter that made her really fun to be around. Of course, she also had quite a number of other things going in her favor, as far as Dominic was concerned.

"Not usually, but I do sometimes." He lifted a brow then, an amused grin quite evident on his face. "Problem?"

Kailey Koreco
Nice. XD; And here's a quick one before bed.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 11, 2014 6:34 pm

The helmet was the last thing really on her mind, distracted by their antics in that moment. Dominic sticking his tongue out only made her laugh, returning the favor with a look of her own, catching hers between her teeth. Even as the air nipped through her relatively light clothing, she was laughing and joking. He had an easy affect on her it seemed, making it simple to forget her surroundings.

His offer earned a softer, warmer smile, though a shake of her head as well. "Thank you, but I don't need you turning into Dom-'cicle due to me." He'd be the one getting the brunt of the icy wind, after all. She'd be able to duck down behind him if really need be. Least it wasn't too far to the hotel...

Maybe she shouldn't have done anything with her hair. That was the new thought at least as she eyed the helmet, realizing she wouldn't even be able to get it on with the bun in her hair. Shrugging, she moved over to his side and set the helmet on the bike, reaching her hands back to pull out the hair ties and pins used to put the bun into place. Dropping some into her purse, she gathered the length of the locks that ran past her arse into a low ponytail. All while listening to his refusal to explain his earlier message--he got a dirty look for that one while she put her hair back up--and then his response to her question.

"Just making sure my health's in good hands. I'd hate to think you weren't experienced maneuvering when you're not just taking care of yourself," she stated ever so chipper, smiling up at him sweetly like poisoned chocolate. Slipping the helmet on easily, she let him translate her words.

Deciding she'd rather maintain her starry, Martian attire, she stood patiently beside the bike, waiting for him to get on first. "Ready~?"

It was always pretty easy to forget whatever else was going on around him when he was with Dani, actually. She was easy to be around, to talk to, and especially to laugh with. And some of her expressions were just so...ahh, he didn't even have a proper word for it. Though, as she caught her tongue between her teeth the guy took a mental snapshot, his smile brightening up just a bit at the sight. Her polite refusal of his jacket got yet another shrug out of him, and he moved a bit to give her some room to do whatever with her hair.

"I'll be plenty warm if you hug me tight enough, I think," he said through a grin, then watched as she took the bun down. He let out a low whistle as he watched the dark tresses fall all the way down past her bottom. Honestly, he'd never actually noticed before. Not for lack of opportunity -- they hung out often enough -- but for whatever reason it just never occurred to him to pay attention to the detail. He was about to comment but she caught him with a response that got him to snort before just outright laughing. "Wooow, okay you win," he managed between laughs, his teeth flashing as he put his helmet on . The shield was up though, so he could keep up conversation until they actually started going.

"I've got you, don't worry. ...dude, I don't even..." Another bit of laughter came on, amusement still dancing in his bright, cerulean blue eyes as he mounted the bike and stowed the kickstand. She always could one-up him when it came to that type of phrasing, which he still found surprising. In a good way, of course. At her prompting, he simply nodded, a hand resting on one of the handles. "Yep, get on. And do me a favor? No death grips. I need to be alive to get us both there safely." But he was all smiles and laughter still.

Kailey Koreco
Guess the cracking up was more literal than I thought. XDD Sorry, by the way, in case you're getting all the notices 'cause of editing and other such things. 83;
PostPosted: Sat Feb 15, 2014 11:32 pm

The cheeky comment certainly got a grin out of her, though she supposed he couldn't really see it as she messed with her hair. Was it weird to be relieved she didn't feel like she had to censor herself? Least, he seemed as comfortable just chatting and saying whatever as she was. "I'll keep that in mind. We're both probably going to get a bit chilly out here. Good way to beat it a little, at least." She was playing around, enjoying herself. Dominic didn't give her the warning vibes some guys did, ones that made her hold her tongue, or keep her fists a bit higher. Or both.

The whistle made her turn though, not sure if she should be flattered or take it as a warning vibe. She opted for the former for the moment, cocking her head to the side as he let out the snort then laugh. A smug little smirk pulled at the corners of her lips, eyes narrowing as she watched him. "I was just sayin'~" Her wink didn't help her case. Really didn't help her case. But she did it anyways.

Watching as he got on the bike, she had to admit... it was a damn nice sight. Making a mental note, she laughed herself to see how he kept going on her joke. "Guess you really aren't such an innocent boy after all... my bad~" she added in a sing-song tone, slipping the helmet on and carefully maneuvering herself onto the bike behind him. The skirt was loose, so it wasn't too difficult. Just trying to make sure she didn't catch it on anything was more her concern. It took her a moment before she figured out where she could put her feet--there was a slightly awkward time or two when a hand would rest on his side for a moment, only for her to apologize quick and try to figure out how to settle herself on the bike right. It was probably a touch obvious she'd never really done this before.

She did settle down though, and after only a slight hesitation on her part, lean forward a bit to wrap her arms carefully--more around his chest rather than lower. She was trying to be polite. Sort of.

Trying to communicate directions while moving on a bike was... interesting. Each time they sped up a bit, her grip had tightened a bit more on him, though she at least restrained herself from a death grip. It'd taken a turn or two before she felt comfortable really lifting an arm from him to point out where they'd need to turn next, not sure he could really hear her trying to shout the directions. And only a few times did she have to let go to try and fix her skirt! Well. Mainly whenever they got stopped by a light. With other people closer around, she felt the need to at least try and be a bit more presentable.

She may or may not have exchanged a less than amused look with a woman behind the wheel of one vehicle next to them.

They'd gotten to the hotel at least. All in one piece, and Danika without any form of panic attacks from the ride. "Totally jumping on some hot chocolate once we get inside," she laughed once she was off the bike and the helmet was off. The wind was really nipping at her at that point, and she was anxious to get indoors. Already she could see signs for the crafts fair leading them in, and likely in too one of the larger ball rooms of sorts in the first floor. It's where it was typically hosted, anyways. "Hope I didn't squeeze too hard."

Dominic let her win their little bout once he was seated and ready to go since she got preoccupied for quite a while with actually...getting on the bike. Dom, of course, found it amusing as all hell, and as she adjusted and readjusted he couldn't keep the smile off of his face despite the slight delay. Whatever contact was being made while she figured out how to get comfortable was understandable to him, and he waved a hand whenever she apologized for it. "You're gonna have to hold on to me when we get going, so..." he said, and it was true. When Dani had finally settled, she'd leaned in a bit closer and he felt her arms wrap around him -- more his chest, really, which was a little odd but he let it slide in favor of just going and getting some place warmer.

He asked her if she was okay a number of times (the fourth "are you sure?" was more said as a joke, though), just to make sure she was good to go, before revving the engine once and driving out of the lot.

It was a little harder, he noted (though he probably already should have known), to get directions as they went, but they managed. Something to remember in the future if they ever did this kind of thing again. It wasn't all bad, though. The looks they were getting from other people on the road were pretty amusing, and the corners of his mouth tugged upward ever so slightly whenever she tightened her grip a little. He actually found himself kind of speeding up on purpose every so often if her grip loosened a little too much (obviously for her safety and no other reason), but he was glad that the trip had been pleasantly death-grip free.

"Not bad for a first ride, huh?" he asked once they were parked and his helmet was off, flashing a smile her way and letting his eyes wash over her figure briefly to make sure that she was, in fact, all in one piece. Dominic was still straddling the bike, though, and he let the engine run as he tried to fix his hair a little. It was flopping around -- he hadn't bothered to style it that morning, which he was only slightly regretting. "Sounds good, but how 'bout some coffee?" He recalled his little internal debate earlier that morning at mention of hot chocolate. Dominic eventually gave up on his hair with a huff, then finally turned off the engine, got off and started securing the helmets.

"Actually felt like you didn't squeeze hard enough, to be honest," he returned with a quirked brow. To his credit, he really was genuinely a little worried that she wasn't holding on properly, but the playful grin on his face probably wouldn't help him plead that case.

Convention, ahoy~! =w=b ...finally. lol Sorry they're still not inside, though.. >o>;;
