The winds were cold in Zena, and colder still today. There wasn't any snow falling at the moment, but one would think it was mostly because it was much too cold for even that to happen. But that was the typical for a Zena winter. It didn't mean that the world stopped around them. People had things to do and places to be and today wasn't any different.

There was a crunching of footsteps through the frozen snow at the front of Borra's home. The knock that came followed was soft and placid, calmly waiting for a response. It didn't seem to be much out of the ordinary, but it was a knock searching for Borra in particular.

Borra was in the midst of shoveling some food in his mouth when the knock at the door came, his mother idly looking over to it as if surprised to find someone there. Swallowing hard he coughed a bit, his hand coming to thump the lump that felt stuck in his chest before he scrambled to get up.

"I'll get it momma," The young man proclaimed as his mother was currently in the midst of making candles and he knew you couldn't just stop dipping them in wax, it would cool and then she would have to start all over. Jogging over to the front door he didn't even bother to fix his hair as he went to open the door.

His pet raoti was still lazing beside the fireplace where his mother sat working away, and he barely lifted his head to see what his owner was doing before laying back down, stretching and settling in.

"Good day to you." Borra greeted as soon as the door was open.

The door opened and standing on the other side was a couple, a wind woman and an ice man, and both seemed to be cheerful enough, though there was somewhat of a sternness behind their eyes. They were bundled against the cold, and answered the greeting with a smile from both. "Good day!" the woman spoke up. Her eyes looked infinitely tired, the lines already forming at their corners even though this woman still looked to be young. She had a short, cheerful bob cut, and the both of them couldn't have been older than twenty eight at best.

"We're looking for Borra. Could I assume that would be you?" She held out a hand to shake, welcoming Borra's presence.

The man with her also seemed tired though to a lesser extent. His body had relaxed when someone had answered the door, and seemed to relax even further when his wife assumed they found the right man.

Borra's gaze flickered between the man and woman, a goofy grin still on his face as he figured maaaaybe now was a better time to try and tidy his mes of hair. Reaching a hand up he tried to comb his fingers through it as best he was able to. All the while he pondered what these two could possible want from him.

"Yes that I am. And I have the pleasure of meeting?" The young ice tribe man inquired noting the tired frames of the two people who were there. It was an interesting couple, one was not from around here and he liked her smile. The man was of the ice tribe so he wondered if they were 'together'. It took him several moments to register that perhaps he should invite the pair inside and out from the cold, rather than leave them perched on their door step.

"You should come in! I apologize my mother is making candles so if we could be quiet? That would be great." He beamed looking excited and curious to why these two would come seeking him. Perhaps they had heard about the troupe that he was joining and was inquiring about joining as well? Would Eira be excited about that? Of course if it was that it meant he would need them to be quiet about it....though he had a feeling his mother already had a suspicion about it.

The woman and man exchanged what looked to be a relieved and happy glance between the two of them before addressing Borra again. "Oh good, we've found the right place then. My name is Ria and this is my husband Yabore." The woman held out her glove covered hand to shake with Borra while the husband nodded while speaking his introduction. "Glad to have found you, Borra."

The man seemed to be handling the cold better than his wife, and as they were offered a way out of the cold the woman seemed to shiver in place and smile to their host. "Well, thank you. I would love to speak for the both of us when I say we would like to come in." The woman allowed herself in and the husband followed; both stomping snow from their shoes before getting out of the cold. Once they had ruffled their hair from the snow, and settled into the feeling of a warm home, the woman and man looked around the house quickly before returning their attention to Borra.

"We are traveling through on the way to a council meeting before the war and after asking around the village, we... have a favor to ask of you." The woman frowned slightly, hoping that Borra would be willing to help them with their issue.

Borra accepted the gloved hand shake with simple enthusiasm before he stepped back and away from the entrance to allow both man and woman to come in. It was cold outside and even just standing out of it he felt as if the cold would try and rob him of his warmth. With the stomping of feet his mother glanced over her shoulder but said nothing at the moment, instead listening into the conversation and continuing to make her candle sticks.

Borra's goofy smile wilted slightly, if only due to confusion. They were...glad they found the right place? They had a favor to ask of him? Surely they must be mistaken, it must be his father they wanted, not him.

"Ah..yes the war, " Borra began after a moment of dizzy thought, clearing his throat he looked a trifle embarrassed, "But you must have the wrong person...your probably looking for my father...not me. He would be much better suited for helping out in the war...I..I am not trained in any type of weapon..." Borra trailed off as he mentally noted to himself he also didn't hold a rank.

The husband and wife pair exchanged glanced before Ria smiled warmly to Borra and patted him on the shoulder. "Oh no! That's exactly why we're looking for you... and most definitely not your father." She laughed out before quieting her little laugh, knowing that the young man had requested a quiet conversation.

The man spoke up this time, taking lead on the request it seemed. Or at least the start of it. "After asking around the village we've been told that you would be near perfect for this job." He scratched the back of his head. "See... we're on our way to the council meeting. My wife and I have been trained in combat for quite some time, and are more than willing to help but we have a... small... issue." He paused at small, not knowing how Borra would handle the matter at hand.

Ria stepped in, cutting her husband's contemplative speech short. "We have children who can't come with us." She piped up. "We've been told that you love children." She let the rest speak for itself. They were asking Borra to babysit.

The shock on his face was not hard to miss. They were looking for him? But...but why? Trying to compose himself the usually happy go lucky guy seemed to be at unease . A million questions running through his head, doubt trying to rise up...his body trembled slightly wondering just what high expectations they had of him.

Slack jawed and staring at the two while they spoke, it was the world 'children' that finally snapped him out of his thoughts. Relief. It flooded through him and his smile returned though it was one that expressed his relief before finally brightening up. Kids? He loved children. He loved to see how their faces lit up when he played games with them, he loved how simple their worlds could be...how play was the best means of expressing themselves.

"Oh!" He finally replied his hand coming up to rub the back of his head, "Yes! I do love looking after children, are they with you? Do I need to come to your home? Can my pet raoti come with me?" The spew of questions lept out of his mouth, after all most children loved his pet, they loved to climb on him and chase him. Baroke was a nice distraction when he had important things like making meals.

The two visibly sighed in relief when they were given a good response. "Oh thank goodness, you'll help us!" the woman sighed out. They both seemed to be very happy that Borra had agreed to help them out.

The woman began to count off her answers to Borra on her fingers, picking them away one by one. "They're with us, waiting in the inn rooms we've reserved for us. They might be too much of a burden for your house, I think we would much rather have you come to the inn." She looked to her husband and they both nodded in agreement with the statement. "And your pet would probably be more than welcome with our children." She smiled to Borra, intent of having him help them out. "There will be compensation of course. We can't expect you to help us with such an important thing as our children and not pay your for your troubles."

"Can you come to start helping us later this afternoon? We need to finish getting our things together for the meeting and will need the alone time." They looked to Borra, once again hopeful that they'll be able to get Borra to help on such short notice.

Nodding his head the sudden rush of ideas and thoughts on how to entertain the kids came to him. What games should he introduce to them? Would they go outside and play in the snow? Would they need to be introduced to a raoti and explained how to treat them? What foods would they like? What should he bring? The dozen of thoughts and ideas racing through his head, he numbly managed to nod his head showing that he at least heard what they said.

"Yes yes this afternoon would be perfect. I will make sure that I am at the inn on time." He replied in a cheery fashion, expecting that they had much to do and prepare for he helped the two out the door before turning and heading back inside. His mother was still working on the candles, Baroke laying beside the father enjoying the warmth of its flames.

"Are you sure your up for it Borra?" Came his mothers words softly, "After all these are gong to be kids your not familiar with, did you want me to come with you?" The dipping of the candles the only motion she continued to do non-stop.

Borra only paused long enough to grab a loaf of bread to reply to her, "Why not mother? I've taken care of lots of kids, this won't be a problem." He replied with a grin before he took a satisfying bite of it, and his mother didn't say anything more on the subject. She knew better than to argue the point with him, as he was stubborn like his father but at least she knew he was more creative than him as well.

Later Borra had his satchel ready, it was filled with small toys and games, as well his lute strapped to his back. Baroke was at his side bleating slightly as if unsure about all this...but he arrived at the inn on time as he was a punctual person (when he tried to be anyway) and waited to see if he spotted the couple from earlier. Excited to meet the kids he couldn't help but rock back and forth on his heels and humm a couple notes.

The inn was cozy and felt warm from the chill of the outside air, lit with candles and lamps and a fire going at the hearth. Though the inn was anything but quiet, that was for sure. From upstairs a ruckus could be heard, running feet on the floor, shouting and yelling, among laughing, jumping, and something being pounded against the floor at an offbeat pace.

There was an innkeeper standing behind a desk, seeming to watch the ceiling as if it could collapse at any moment. He seemed to shake his head before returning to his sitting position with a book in his lap.

The rumbling continued upstairs, but there seemed to be another pounding sound coming closer. Around the darkened corner of the staircase came the couple from earlier, carrying pack and settling them on the floor. They gave a quick look around before their eyes landed on Borra and the woman briskly walked up to him, while the man receded back upstairs to the commotion above.

"Borra! We thought you might change your mind. We were hoping you wouldn't, though." The woman laughed out before grabbing a hold of Borra's hand. "I hope they aren't too much for you to handle. Bergchi knows they're a handful." The mother grabbed some of the packs from the floor and bolstered them further onto her shoulders. "We shouldn't be gone too long, but they will need to be put to bed later tonight. We should be back by morning. Don't let them stay up too late now. We're counting on you." Ria continued to count off numerous things that Borra should keep track of, while the immense pounding from upstairs seemed to be coming further down on a rampage.

The husband, Yabore, rounded the corner of the stairs again, carrying just a few more packs and a little girl that looked to be the age of two. Following quickly on his heels were 5 more children, all ranging from the ages of three to seven. Three of them seemed to be a set of triplets. "The gang's all here." The husband announced.

"We thought it wouldn't be right to leave you without at least introducing them." Ria announced.

Now Borra was excited, he could certainly recognize the excited stomping belonging to children, though a small part of him wondered...just how many children was he looking after? It sounded like a little herd of them, and though he had looked after that many in the past, he knew the children and could predict if one was going to have a tantrum, if one was going to refuse to nap. He knew the tricks needed to get those familiar children to do what he wanted.

Snapping out of his thoughts a still large goofy smile on his face he turned his attention to the couple when they called out his name. Shifting on the spot he gave a small wave before his hand was taken a hold of. It was a greeting he knew but he couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed. As Yabore came around the corner a little girl on his shoulder Borra was instantly smitten. She was just so adorable! Then...there were more kids coming, boy uh...these couple had kept themselves...very busy hadn't they?

The eldest at least should be able to help him if he needed it, but was that a set of triplets? Triplets were so rare it was really interesting to see them!

"Hello there! My name is Borra, I will be looking after you today. This is my pet raoti Baroke." Borra introduced himself first to the kids the raoti looking a bit unsure about all the kids....

The children seemed to let loose a mass squeal at the sight of the little roati and converged on its spot, smothering it with rough affection. "I wanna see... get out of my way... you're stepping on my feet, gettoff!" The children were speaking all at one time, ready to pull hair and push the others out of the way for a look at the poor roati.

It was only when the father spoke up, with the little two year old still on his hip, that the children seemed to settle down. "Alright now, calm yourselves." His voice was quiet but stern, there was no disobeying that voice. The children backed away and seemed to line up, waiting for the next command.

Ria stood forward, getting between the children and Borra and his roati. "Borra, let me introduce you." She said with a smile. She turned to her children and seemed to wave them forward. They once again swarmed on their mother this time, clutching to her legs, arms, wherever they could grab a hold of. "This is Verise, she's 7." A little girl with a bob cut looked up at her mother before waving briefly and snuggling back into her mother's side. "Race, Jerrad, and Kair are the triplets; five." Three little boys pulled themselves away from their mother and seemed to be reaching for the roati once more before a sound from their mother called them off and back to their father, seeming rather disappointed. "Lanara is four..." Another even smaller girl let of of her mother's leg long enough to stick her thumb out at herself. "But you better believe I'm a big girl."

Ria laughed out. "She likes to wrestle with the triplets, with them being so close together. And this little one is Mira." She motioned to the two year old clutching to her husband.

Borra's eyes flickered to each child as they were introduced, trying to drill into his brain the names of each face as they came to it. There was nothing worse than accidentally forgetting a child's name or worse..getting them mixed up.

Seven years old, Verise, the eldest of the group with a bob cut.
Triplets, boys, Race, Jerrad and Kair being the second oldest. It was going to be tricky remembering the boys names and distinguishing one from each other.
Lanara was four years old, and boy was she adorable, with the way she claimed to be a big girl.
And then there was...Mira. The youngest. Still young enough to want to cling to her father's side.

Taking this mental note into action he nodded his head, repeating their names in a greeting like fashion to show that he was indeed paying attention.

"It is wonderful to meet you Verise, I am sure I will need your help to make sure we all have fun." He greeted the eldest with a warm smile, then turned his attention to the boys giving a small laugh.

"Baroke will love to play with you Race, Jerrad and Kair but you have to promise not to be too rough with him otherwise Baroke won't want to play understand?" He addressed the young boys as he knew that in the past all young boys tended to play a bit too rough with his pet.

Turning to look at Lanara he gave her a big grin, "And since your such a big girl Lanara I am going to need your help as well. We are going to play all sorts of games and I'll need someone like you to keep everyone happy." Borra knew you had to make each child feel important and included else they wouldn't be very happy.

Finally there was Mira, sometimes when they are that young strangers were very scary. "Hello Mira, my name is Borra I am going to be looking after you and your siblings today. Won't that be fun?" He inquired to her in his most gentle of voices. Once all the children were addressed he returned his attention to the parents.

"How long will you be gone for? Are there any special rules that the children need to abide by?" He inquired as he knew all parents had different rules.

The children seemed to accept Borra's acknowledgement with smiles, both friendly and devious, and little Mira nestled her head into her father's shoulder, seemingly embarrassed at having been addressed by Borra directly.

The mother patted the children on the head before releasing them all to go back upstairs and continue to play. Once all but little Mira had disappeared, Ria crossed her arms and contemplated. "Well, the meeting is tonight, so we'll be back in the morning. And they shouldn't be allowed to stay up late. We'll be leaving to travel back home tomorrow after we return, so they'll need plenty of rest before then." She scratched at her nose, trying to remember anything else. "Little Mira is potty trained, as well as the rest of the children. They'll need dinner, but the triplets are picky. They'll have no trouble telling you what it is they want."

She pulled little Mira from her father and nodded back to Borra. "I'll be carrying her upstairs, when I get back we'll be leaving you to it." She smiled.

Yabore waited until his wife had left the room before speaking to Borra. "They're a handful. The best way to keep control is to not let your guard down." He shook Borra's hand and his wife was already back from settling in Mira. "Well then Borra! We'll see you in the morning!" She also shook Borra's hand one more time and the two of them were off to the meeting and out of vision.

[Borra should solo his interactions with the children and their dinner, play, resting, and anything else in between. The triplets will all want different things to eat, and Verise will be able to help with one of the children at a time. Stop once the children are supposed to be getting ready for bed. You may take control of the children. This may be as long or as short as is necessary.]
