That wretched stallion.

Deumos had spent years in isolation, and it was exactly what she wanted. She had no encounters with other Soquili and lived purely on survival for the sake of existing. She hadn't quite figured out why existence was important and found no real purpose in any day that she continued breathing. All that mattered was that she had herself and her own thoughts. It seemed for a good amount of years she really had figured out the living day-to-day thing, and all was going as needed until she met him.

The brute he was. She supposed there were a few moments when she truly was a mare that was woo'ed. They had a connection, but she didn't want any of it. There were other times she was angry for spending so much time with such a stupid creature. Putting all of the useless thoughts and drama aside, the worst part was the basket sitting next to her.

She was a mare that was not supposed to have any of this. If she could have she would have stayed in the pits of hell where she belonged, but instead she was stuck with very bad decisions and this thing next to her.

She spent many days waiting for him to return. She knew that he would, he was a predator and she was his morsel. But when he returned she had quite a surprise for him, and she was going to kick this basket away as well as the stallion to never encounter again.

Temptation had been making his rounds, and much to the mare's planning, he was on his way to see her. He was everything she believed and he knew and loved what he was. Having the strength from his father Wrath was one thing, but having the ability to entice any mare he wanted from his mother Succubus was the route he preferred... and what a beautiful life he lived. His mother would be oh so proud.

Today he was on a mission in usual fashion. Deumos was the dark and twisted flavor he craved. She had been a challenge right from the start. She didn't talk much and had very little emotional response to share about anything. As he did with all mares he hunted, he eventually won her over and considered her a rare beauty all for himself. She was a secret he would keep, for to let her out into the world would mean him potentially losing her.

He made his way through the familiar dark and desolate forest she liked to call 'home', and once he saw the fiery creature up ahead, he puffed his shoulders out in usual fashion. "My dear Deumos, I have returned."

Deumos had many days to practice exactly how she wanted this all to go. With that being said, she wasn't a mare who usually had a plan, so she wasn't sure how much control she could have in this situation. Once she heard the stallion's voice and that he was approaching, she nudged the basket away and behind a tree. She would have the encounter go as best as she could, with whatever power she had left.

She watched Temptation as he drew nearer, and felt a scathing rage she had never felt before. He had showed her many feelings and emotions, and she was sure he'd be surprised to know the anger she felt from all he had done. As not to give anything away, the mare took a deep breath and tried to stay on course.

She only had one chance to completely change his life forever. From all he had said about his lineage, she felt a strong sense this would all go her way.

"Good evening, Temptation." Saying his name felt more painful then getting a limb ripped off. "What brings you here?"

He was relieved to be greeted in calm fashion as there were some nights where the mare was much harsher in response to his arrival. As he stepped closer he took her all in with a wide smile. "You know what brings me here, what a silly question to ask." He stopped in front of her and nuzzled her gently.

If there was one thing that felt forced, it was everything about the mare at this very moment. It was unusual for her to be expecting him so much. Had he changed her for the better? It all seemed especially surprising to him. She had never acted like a mare that could be trained so easily to his customs.

"Were you expecting me?" His eyes narrowed as he began the circle the mare. "Is my influence rubbing off on you for the better? I never imagined you to be so responsive." Mares were always surprising him, and that was what made this game so fun.

She wasn't sure how much longer she could hold out. She wanted to attack him and rip his stupid expression off his face. She wanted this all to be over so she could forget about him and everything they'd done in the past. She needed to act and quickly before her anger consumed her into something worse. There was baggage she was carrying, and it was in the form of the basket behind the tree. It all needed to end so she could be free and on her own again. Her solitude was all she had, and she needed it badly if she were to keep any kind of peace in her life.

When he finished encircling her she backed up so she was next to the important tree. "Actually yes, I was expecting you. But only to tell you this all ends now. You won't be seeing me anymore, and I certainly never want to see you ever again." Her eyes flared as her tail whipped to her side. She wasn't sure what intimidation looked like, but she had practiced and hoped she was fitting the mold well enough.

"Everything about you and I has been a mistake."

This was not the first time Temptation had a mare act this way. In fact, in almost all of his relationships this moment was bound to happen. He usually had the upper hand and was more prepared in noticing a change in a mare's emotions, so as to bring them back to him in the end with 'passion', 'love' and 'encouragement'. In Deumos' case he had been very unprepared and surprised, and even he felt as though this could be a challenge. There was no love that she felt, and he was sure she didn't even know what that emotion was.

"You can't be serious. What we have is so special." From the mare's stance he decided to keep his distance, as he was not in the mood to get that kind of violent this evening. "Why lose me? I couldn't have been that big of a mistake. We've had some good times, you and I." He was having a hard time taking her seriously, but tried to act like he was. "You need me, Deumos. I brought you so much life. Are you sure you want to give that up?"

She must have realized she literally had nothing else. He was the answer to all of her needs. Or at least, that's what the stallion liked to think for himself.

What an idiot this stallion was. He was so obsessed with himself and his habits that he truly had no idea what was coming to him. Deumos was glad their cursed child could be HIS problem. Perhaps this was the change Temptation needed to stop being such a jerk to herself and other idiotic mares. He needed to change, and this would have to do it.

"I most certainly do not need you." She beckoned, with a snarl. "You are not hearing me correctly. Giving you up will give me the best satisfaction I've ever had." She didn't need him. She never needed him. If anything, he needed her. He was a stallion that lived through craving these types of relationships. It mattered not to her if she never spoke to another creature again.

"You are correct on one regard. You did bring me life-" Without hesitating, she dove behind the tree and kicked the basket forward, so it landed right in front of the stallion. "I now am giving it back. This is your problem now, not mine. All of this was your fault."

She began to walk away from the stallion, and already felt as though weight was lifting off of her shoulders. "I relieve you and this child from my thoughts entirely. If you bring this thing near me again, I will kill it, to thank you for all you have done." She turned to look at him with scorn. She was seriously enjoying the emotion of anger, and realized perhaps this is what she needed to get her life on track again, and perhaps a life even for the better.

"Maybe then you will learn what your actions have done for once, you stupid stupid stallion."

For a stallion that thought he was prepared for everything, Temptation was finally at a loss for words. Unfortunately the first thing he was thinking was wow, this mare was fiery when she was angry! His crude thoughts were then discarded forever when a basket had been kicked to his hooves. They had... a CHILD? A rush of anxiety flew into his brain.

He always considered himself a stallion that was especially careful, but he had always known the reality of offspring could happen. He knew what he did could lead to this actions almost too easily. This was the first time it had actually happened. Pity it was with such a b***h for a mare. His anxiety left almost too easily when he listened to the 'mother' speak.

The mare, too, was idiotic to think that this child was meaningless to him. This child carried his blood, which meant his parents blood and honor. The stallion lowered himself so that he could hear the small breath coming out of the basket. He was glad it was so tiny so that Deumos would reject it before it was grown enough to know. He'd have to protect it when questions came about. But until then...

"How dare you kick our child." If there was scum in the world, it was this mare. He should have known better, she was too messed up. Offspring were not something to discard. He rose himself so that he towered over the escaping mare. "Perhaps this too will teach you what your actions has done, for the child will never know how pathetic its mother really was." And now as Deumos was leaving them, she was threatening her child as well?

"I dare you to try and harm this child. You forget that children grow, and you forget how large I am..." He bared his fangs and took a few steps forward. "We don't need you, in fact I am grateful you are leaving us. Any mare so weak as to abandon their child has no respect from me." He was pissed, and even more disappointed in such a weakling for a creature in front of him.

This child needed him more then ever, and he would not be so foolish as its mother was.

Deumos was also surprised at how everything had panned out. Her first hope had been accomplished- the stallion immediately accepted the child, so it was no longer her burden to carry. That was the most important part of the plan to her. The child was innocent in all of this and she made sure it would survive. Why, she had no idea. Was this maternal instinct?

Her biggest surprise was the stallion's emotional response to the child, and to her. She had no idea he would be that accepting of his own offspring. She felt fear suddenly as he was yelling at her, and it stopped her in her tracks of leaving.

She supposed this was good. Let them hate her. That meant he and the child would not seek her out, which is what she wanted. Her fear was soon subsiding and she felt an immense sadness she had never felt before. She had no fight in her for this child. The child would die if she took care of it on her own, whereas its father would ensure its complete survival.

Perhaps she was as pathetic as Temptation was saying, but she hoped this gift of life was all she could give to this child she would never know.

"I don't want your respect, and you and I know I've never had it anyways." Her eyes narrowed and she turned to continue her escape forever. "Goodbye, Temptation. May you continue to ruin lives with your bad decisions..." She could not say goodbye to the basket. Tears started down her face once she realized the child could have brought her happiness, something she had never felt before.

Clearly she did not deserve happiness, and she strode forward as to not let Temptation see the tears in her eyes. This is why she needed to be alone, forever.

This was right. This was needed. It had to be done.

Temptation scathed at the mare's mention of him ruining lives. He would need to think on it, but for now he had bigger things to worry about. "Good riddance, you crazy mare."

As he watched Deumos leave, he looked down at his child below him. He wondered how aware it was to everything that had just happened. What kind of child would he raise? What if it turned out like its mother? What if it felt the kick from its mother forever? This was all too much to take in, and the stallion realized he was exhausted.

He lowered himself so the basket was snug against his chest. All he could do right now was protect it and keep it warm, and remove any thoughts of its mother out of his head.

"We'll be ok, you and I." He finally said, while nuzzling the basket. He wasn't sure what was overcoming him, but he supposed he liked it. There were times he felt protective of a mare in his grasp, but never as protecting as he felt now to this child. In his youth Temptation had a great upbringing. He couldn't allow this setback to ruin the future for the child inside.

He had no idea how to be a father, but he knew he couldn't give up like Deumos had. He would raise this child, and learn as much as his father learned from having children. I can do this... he thought, while hoping he and his child were lucky in never seeing Deumos again.

Deumos hoped, too, that they would never see her again. Her plan was what it was, and she could not turn back now.

As she strode forward into the darkness, she tried to absorb as much of her mind into the silence as it needed to.

She couldn't help but wonder if she had given up so much in just a few moments. It all felt like a whirlwind. Why let the stallion have everything, when he had taken so much from her? Did she deserve everything she was feeling?

It was all too much to bear, and a constant reminder on why she should not be with anyone or near others ever again. There was no reason to believe she was anything different. She was the pathetic mare he spoke of, and she would not make these mistakes again.

And if her child did find her one day, their fate would be sealed however the universe decided it should be...
