It was nothing new that the young stallion would venture to places beyond his garage every now and then, especially to escape the rather hazardous fumes that would cloak him with every new repair. May it be an oil change or especially a tune up, fresh air was a very important thing for anyone to have at any moment. Sure, the kid had grown up around the stuff and was pretty used to it, but that didn't mean he was just 'magically' unaffected. Quite the contrary in all honesty. So now, Jump Start sat alone on a park bench, grumbling to himself as he held a little sketch book in his hand and drew little sketches of modifications he could make in order to change how the cars in the world worked, perhaps in an attempt to make some kind of hydroelectric substitute that would eliminate the use of oil all together. Heck, he didn't know. Sometimes ideas like this just came to him on a whim, and this was definitely one of those random ideas. He never stopped to consider the possibility of it all, nor the fact that others might already have the same thing in mind. His only goal was to get the job done first, and that's what he usually did.

Unfortunately, this dream of his was in no way easy, especially considering that adding more water to a metal vehicle could prove problems of waste and such, and lining the insides would end up with a more expensive car. And there was already a huge rust issue that was completely corroding the bottom and even some of the bodies of cars. Yea, he wasn't planning on digging a deeper grave for himself this early on.

A sigh of defeat gave way as he leaned back in the bench, crumpling up the sketch and throwing it skyward, only to have it fall back down and bop him on the nose. He gave yet another grumble, picking up the paper that had since then landed on the ground and tossed it into a recycling bin. If only things like this were easier...he'd probably be famous and rich by now. Ah, oh well. Rather than letting the lost battle get to him, Jump Start decided to grab a bite to eat to ease his mind. After all, a hot dog always brightened the mood. Once again he went to sit on the bench after giving the vendor his 2 bits for the snack, leaning back at he stared in a thoughtful and almost blank manner while taking a bite. Maybe he should try and get the opinion of others on the matter? It wouldn't hurt to try....but who around here would be a good place to start? His oil-black eyes began to scan about, curiously scouting for anyone that wasn't too busy and readily botherable-- er, able to be...surveyed? Yea...that.

Hopefully this wouldn't be too hard.

Oh, Our Cookies: Posty is a meh post. I hope no one minds me considering Manehattan a mix of NYC, Manhattan, and London.

*Google says 'Let's see if it does the same.'

Within the hustle of the central park in Manehattan came and went many figures, including a rather elegantly dressed blue unicorn, save for the pair of large saddle bags on either side, that walked into the park in a slightly slow manner, though her eyes were fixed on the clock tower in the distance. The locals of Manehatten called it 'Old Ben' but she simply smiled brightly towards it as the minute hand of it changed position.

It took only a few more seconds for the unicorn to stop in front of a hot-dog stand of sorts, her gaze still fixated on the tower. "A ligean ar a fheiceáil má dhéanann sé mar an gcéanna" she muttered aloud without moving her eyes.

User Image Magnetic North was a busy pony. He liked to say that there were more of his hoof prints in the streets of Manehatten than any other pony, but who could really count them all? As a taxi pony, though, it was a safe bet that if it were possible to count all the hoof prints in the city, his would number among the highest. There was very little in life that North enjoyed more than seeing the sights of the city, the hustle and bustle of the tourists and townies alike, but there was one thing he gave it all up for around 1 pm every afternoon.

Every day of the week he took his lunch break at a different spot in the city. Today was the park. He had parked his taxi - a weathered but tough wagon with lots of fresh hay for his clients to sit in and enjoy the ride comfortably - not too far from where he sat, enjoying his customary dandelion sandwich. Before him a dozen or so pigeons cooed and fluffed their feathers, waiting for the crumbs he was sure to throw. The sturdy stallion watched with with what might be called a hint of a smile on his lips. There was a younger pony not far to his right that had caught some of the bird's attention with his hot dog and they'd stared to walk over to see if he'd share, but North didn't mind. He couldn't feel all of the birds and still have enough for himself, after all.

Some strange muttering spooked the birds away rather suddenly, and North dropped what remained of his sandwich on the ground in surprise, the birds rushing away so quickly that it caused a tiny whirlwind to toss dirt everywhere. He looked down at his sandwich with a scowl, then up to the pony that had caused the ruckus.

"Hey, lady," he said to the blue unicorn not far to his left. "If you're gonna start speakin' in tongues do it somewhere else, will ya? You scared the birds." Which in turn scared him. Which made him drop his sandwich. Therefore, it was her fault his lunch was ruined.

Still looking for someone to inquire, that moment of thought was broken as he noticed the scuttling pigeons by his hooves. "Oh, hey there little guys..." He started, taking a pause as he realized what the birds really wanted. And that wasn't a little chat; more like a little snack. Giving a glance to the hot dog he held, the young stallion sighed and broke off a piece, about to toss it over to them until the flock suddenly burst into flight. He and the piece of bread were thus left there, utterly shocked at the incident. "What the heck--?" There were no telltale signs of what startled the birds so, at least not at first. But another glance around revealed the probable source of the problem itself, and a clearly upset stallion handling it with his own hooves.

Despite how great it was that Jump didn't have to get in any sort of confrontation, it was quite difficult to stay away. Whatever witchcraft this mare was doing, with or without actual unicorn magic, he sure as heck was interested in it. But, the harsh time the other was giving her would be an obstacle to get around...oh well, life wasn't always easy.

"Hey, bud--" Jump started, beginning to make his way over to the two. "Quit ya complainin'. It ain't gonna help the burds anyhow if you keep on with it. Find another place to sit, will ya? Plenty of these rascals anyhow, see?" With that, he gestured to the multitude of other benches and gave a nod of his head, lowering the hoof after. "Ain't no real harm here, just a tou'ist makin'a way around." At least, she looked like once. But that was another flaw that Jump Start faced. It was only after his words that he realized that he actually knew this stallion, or at least had seen him around the shop before. Once or twice he'd even repaired the other's....taxi, was it? Whatever the case may be, this teen definitely knew the adult. What was his name again... "Hold on a second...North? That's you, right?" Hopefully this wouldn't be the second insult of the day, on top of his one-way kind gesture towards the mare.

Oh, Our Cookies: Posty

The blue unicorn quickly raised a hoof to the one male that was complaining towards her as a request for silence, and then wiggled it slightly along with a "Shhhh" escapeing her lips, all while not changing her gaze. Nary a second later, the larger hand of the clock tower in the distance finally changed, which caused the unicorn to smirk a bit smugly. "Twelve years later, that same cog's eroding again" she added on out loud, before turning towards the elderly of the earthen pair.

"I apologize for the disturbance. This spot and the old Clock Tower are kind of special to me" the unicorn finally replied in a calm and friendly manner, along with a slight bow. With her head down, she spotted the various pigeons whom seemed intent of competing with each other for the dropped sandwich. "It seems the birds have gotten their lunch. How about I buy it for you two?" she offered politely, not leaving the younger out of the picture.

North narrowed his eyes as he was waved at and shushed. He was used to being hailed so a raised hoof wasn't anything out of the ordinary for him, but this was almost dismissive in nature. He was about to say something else when a voice caught his attention, and he turned his glare to the young black and white pony that he had noticed just a few moments before.

Had he not recognized the young stallion he would have given him a piece of his mind, but the familiar face halted his tongue. It was his, for lack of a better word, mechanic. Jump Start was more into the types of vehicles that weren't pony-powered, but wheels and axles were wheels and axles, and with someone as busy as North, they did need changing and repair from time to time.

"Yeah, that's me," he grumbled as the unicorn finally spoke up. He glared back at her as she apologized, green eyes rolling just a bit. Of course it was special to her...that was just his luck. "This park is special to lots of ponies, lady," he said, his tone not amused but not as sharp as it had been before. The offer of being bought lunch made his ears twitch in indecisiveness. He wasn't happy that his birds had been spooked, nor that his lunch ended up in the bellies of his friends when he'd already fed them what they were due, but he was never one to turn down free food.

"If they got dandelion sandwiches at that grease pot back there, fine," North said with a little sniff, nodding towards the hot dog stand. He wasn't a fan of the more popular snacks in the area. They smelled heavenly but sat heavy in his stomach, and when his job was to run around all day, that was the last thing he wanted.

Oh, Our Cookies: Sorry, but it's been a while x.x

From the request, the blue unicorn tilted her head only slightly, in a bit of confusion. "Are you sure? That sounds a little light. Might I suggest something with a bit more quality than that?" she asked, though it was obvious she wasn't going to wait for an answer. "I can pull a couple of favours at the restaurant in the Mane Fair Hotel, if you'd like. If it's a simple sandwich you crave, then why not have it made for your own tongue, hm? Oh, and if you look closely, you will see the minute hand of the Clock Tower hesitate as it changes." Surely enough the longer hand on the tower appeared to struggle to change its position, with a visible enough shake to be seen even at the park.

as the hooded figure walked into the park, his horn glowing a deep blue, similar to princess luna's, he glanced down at a feather and frowned. looking back up he quickly located another feather and smiled, picking it up and placing it in a pocket inside his hood. as he looked around for another feather a bird flew in front of him, startling him. "Nsọ unyi, ebe ke oro si bịa?" he said in his native language, even though he knew English, as he took a step back. he had never seen this bird before and he was intrigued by it. "Nwoke a bụ ebe a otutu iche n'ogige Onyunyo." he said as he lowered his head letting out a sigh, calming his heart. he thought as he continued to search for another Pegasus feather for his spell.

The unicorn's offer might have been taken up by others, but North rolled his eyes. "The Mane Fair Hotel? Do I look like I ride in the taxis instead of pull 'em?" He definitely wasn't the type for high end things, be it food, fashion, or entertainment. Dandelion sandwiches and feeding the birds were more than enough for him. It might be hard for some to believe that a pony of his size and in his profession would get by on a simple sandwich, but a big breakfast and dinner supplemented the small lunch. That, and he didn't have much time to eat during the day. Every moment he wasn't pulling his taxi he wasn't getting paid.

"Maybe Jump Start here'll take you up on your offer, but I can find somethin' else. Don't got the time and not the type-a pony to go walkin' off in the middle of the day to eat a sandwich in a fancy hotel."

Having felt rather brushed off from the conversation earlier, Jump Start decided that it wasn't his place to speak up unless mentioned, idling about and eating the rest of his thankfully still-together snack. Once and awhile he'd look around as well, wondering if he should simply leave as the conversation became more noninclusive of his own presence, a figure in the distance actually beginning to gain his interest by the simple absurdity of his outfit. Really, who wears cloaks like that anymore? Especially in the crowded city like so? But, just as he began to raise a hoof and walk off, the mention of his name had finally gotten the teen's ears to perk up a bit, turning his head back over and beginning to frown a bit.

"Hey, why not just take a break fur once? I mean, ya always have to tote that thing around, surely yur back is screamin' fur a rest? In fact..." A grin came on, the normal earth pony's tail giving an eager twitch. "I could fill in, take the old gurl off ya hooves fur'a bit. How 'bout it?"

OOC :: Sorry I was gone for a bit, I had a lot on my hands to deal with-- Also it's so weird trying to talk in dialect xD;; Oh well, saying it out loud and making the r's rather soft might help out, as that's what I do for myself >3>;;

Double Trouble

The blue coated unicorn walked through the park. Her cape and cravat barely bouncing with every heavy step she took. Although the relatively peaceful scenery was a nice change from the rising skyscrapers and the ceaseless waves of walking hooves abounding in the streets of the city, Double Trouble, as everyone called her, wasn't in the highest of spirits. Truth is, she wasn't very fond of Manehatan.... but she didn't have a choice, she was supposed to find a group that would escort her somewhere... but all she received in the taverns was silence, laughs... and a half-eaten cupcake splattered on her left eye... fortunately, it was strawberry flavored.

She spotted a bench right next to a tree, which looked like a nice place to enjoy her meal. Sitting there like any normal pony would, she took out a small bag from under her cape and retrieved what was inside of it... a Dulce de Leche filled doughnut. She sighed in relief, for in a few moments, her worries would vanish for long beautiful seconds as soon as that wonderful taste graced her tongue. Excited, with her doughnut levitating in front her, she opened her mouth, ready to take a bite out of it. What caught her attention was the sudden air breeze in front of her face and the rather funny and strange lack of sweet in her mouth the moment she closed it. Double stood still for a few seconds before realizing what was going on... a pigeon flying away from with her doughnut in its beak. "NonononononoNO! That was the last one they had! Hey!", she immediately took chase after it, the bird wasn't flying too high from the ground, maybe she could still catch it... which of course wasn't going to happen, but she wasn't thinking straight right then. It was one of those moments she wished she knew the teleportation spell, another alternative was using her telekinesis, but by doing that she would risk hurting her doughnut... and the animal, of course. The chase was short-lived, however. She was so focused on her food she didn't pay attention to the figure the pigeon she was chasing flied in front of. Double Trouble didn't have any time to react as she crashed with the hooded pony, the impact made her fall to the ground. Laying on the grass, her rear part raised and her cape covering her head in a rather pathetic way, she let out a frustrated sigh.

hawk fell when Double Trouble ran into him, causing the feather he had just got to float off into the wind. "Ouch." hawk said as he slowly got to his hoofs opening his blood red glowing eyes and looking at Double. "you need to watch were your going..." he said, as he glanced as his feather and used magic to grab hold of it. looking down at her, his eyes scanning her over finally raised an eyebrow. hawk looked awfully like one of lunas sentinels with his glowing eyes, and probably that's what double thought he was (up to you). finally after a few seconds. "you almost coasted me my ingredients for a spell im casting tomorrow, now what do you have to say for yourself?" he said using his magic to right her, but the magic was that of a different grade, something that no pony had felt in 1000 years, well those who don't live in the garden of shadows.

Double Trouble

A chill traveled down Double's back as Hawk used his magic to help her stand up. It was weird, she was the target of many magic spells on numerous occasions, but it was the first time she felt something so... somber. Once she regained her balance, she brushed the dust from her cravat with her left hoof. She forgot about grieving the loss of her lunch as her heterochromatic eyes focused at Hawk's glowing red eyes. She gulped as a small shiver passed through her, If there was something she learned over the years, is that the eyes are a clear window of someone's true self. She stood still, analyzing curiously the other other unicorn... she couldn't see see him very well with that hood... but his features and that impotent attitude made him look like a royal night guard. She wondered what was the reason behind his hood, was he trying to protect himself from the sun rays? Or was he trying to hide something? Her mind returned to reality the moment Hawk asked her what she had to say for herself... "I, uhhhh...." she looked away, thinking about what to say, and then back at Hawk, with a nervous grin "...am Sorry?", Trouble couldn't think of anything else to say... it was her fault for running like a fool after a small bird, after all. That's when it hit her... she remembered the reason she came to Manehattan. Her awkward grin turning into an excited expression "Ohhhhh... could it be....? Sorry if this is abrupt but... would you... would you happen to be one of Princess Luna's Guard?" she asked joyfully with an ear to ear smile on her face.

hawk gave a look of surprisment. "uh no im sorta new to equestria." he said placing a hoof on the back of his head. smiling nervously he placed the feather in his cloak, and for a brief moment the sun lit up his face. "im from the garden of shadows..." he said trailing off as he removed his hood. "you see, I'm nocturnal.." he said trailing off again as he began to make his horn glow, a simple locater spell. "so why did you run into me, anyanwụ Nile Bi n'Oké,err sun dweller." he asked correcting himself as he realized he said sun dweller in his native language. he was still getting use to being in a different culture. "and yes I know, the garden of shadows is only a myth..." he said rolling his eyes as if he had been asked that question many times before.
