Zebra

Zebra are an earth-pony like equine whom bear long legs, slender tails with tufts at the end, thick hair that sticks straight up and grows short, and most noticeable of all; stripes. Each Zebra's stripes are unique to them.

The Zebra are found in a far away land across the ocean, scattered across the continent of Africanter. Often these 'ponies' only reach Equstria by means of pegasi chariot or ships from Trottingham. Because of this there are very Zebra who have the means to make such a journey.

Zebra are known to have rather large families and great adaptations to defend against beasts and predators by blending together and working as a unit. These equine teach great wisdom and cooperation. They live in scattered family units, and answer to no prince or princess. You will never find a zebra who can be tamed by any means of the word.

Donkeys

Donkeys are a land bearing race who have coarse coats and longer ears than ponies. Donkeys are a hardy race hailing from the lands south of Equestria known as Marehico. These equines prefer dry, warmer climates. Above all they are well known as hard workers who can carry heavy loads for long distance.

The donkey's have readily merged into the world of Equstria, and though they are considered I minority you are likely to see several within any given city. These creatures are primarily solitary, but may also live in small, close knit families.

Along with determination and endurance, these equines hold a very strong stubborn streak. Cross a Donkey and you'll live to regret it, but do right by them and you'll have a friend for life.

Donkeys are the reason for that the cute-ceaƱeras are so readily celebrated in equestria for each and every little filly upon receiving her cutiemark.

Buffalo

The Buffalo are the original inhabitants of Equestria. They stand steadfast in the plains all across Equestria, content to live close to the earth with little to no commodities of pony-life.

On occasion these stocky relatives of the cow come into conflict with the new ponies and settlers as they spread across the land, and this causes some degree of animosity between Buffalo and Pony.

Much of these conflicts have since been resolved, particularly in Appaloosa, where the Buffalo choose to roam. This alliance between the buffalo and the pony settlers of Appleoosa has struck up the tradition of the Apple Pie Peace Party every year to renew and strengthen the ties between the two equines.

Buffallo keep to a structured unit, with one chief reining head of the group. They enjoy traveling and sticking close to the earth, and are not above a good stampede now and again. Many ponies are now learning to look up to the old ways that the Buffalo embrace, recognizing the earth as a living, breathing thing as the Buffalo do.

Goats

Goats are a race whom little is known about. They've been spotted here and there across Equstria. Most noticeably they've been seen working with Minotaurs or around farms. They possess thin, lanky limbs with knobbed knees, and strange horizontally slitted eyes. Two horns grow on their head, both male and female, though the female's are notably much shorter.

Though they seem to possess a good deal of intelligence, they just can't seem to contain their urge to chew on any and every object that comes close enough to reach. To some degree it may be said that all goats possess some form of pica.

Goats do not speak "pony" but communicate in a array of bleats and brays, which can be understood by minotaurs and other cloven hooved creatures.

Camels

Camels are another type of hooved creature that hails from Saddle Arabia. Known for their humped backs, these animals stand tall as any stallion. Their knobby knees and cloven hooves are characteristic, as well as they're "deadpan" glazed over look. Camel's have gotten a name for themselves by spitting, and continually chewing their cud, much like a cow.

The hump on their back can be singular or double, and unlike follore would have someponies believe, they are not filled with water, but fat. Camels can withstand long periods of exposure to extreme heat with little to no water supply, which has fostered the belief that they retain water in their humps. Though not as literal as it may seem, water can be stored within the fat cells and equates to their long-lasting hydration and endurance.

Like the goat, is isn't fully understood if the camel can speak pony language. These creatures are rare in Equestria, as it is some great distance from their far off home.

Moose

The moose are a proud race that hail from the far off frozen north. Their incredible endurance to sustain themselves through harsh winters is matched only by the the Elk and deer of Vanhoover. They stand tall as any clysdale, sometimes taller, with males bearing massive antlers that fan out before they branch, creating an appearance like a catcher's mitt.

While moose are often thought of as gentle giants, and their passive nature is noticed by many a mocking pony, as well as their seemingly strange accident... Yet if you challenge a moose to a game of hockey you will surely loose.

These so called gentle giants can be destructive and surprisingly strong when threatened. No moose will ever forget that you've wronged it, though you may be unaware that you have done so.

Elk & Deer

Elk and deer are the natural inhabitants of Vanhoover. These slender cloven hooved creatures enjoy a quiet, mountain life away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. They much prefer a nice cabin in the woods.

Many deer are observed as being "skiddish" and easy to spook. While they do hold some ability to defend themselves the deer and elk prefer a more passive approach, and would rather tun and run than face a fearsome foe.

Males grow antlers every year, which increase in size and number of points the healthier they are. For the first portion of these growths they're covered in a fine velvet, which sheds later on in the season. Antlers then fall off in a natural process, which many rodents then make use of, gnawing away at the thick hardy structures.

Llama's & Alpaca

Hailing from a region even further south than Marehico the Llamas and Alpacas are a hardy race. Much like the donkey they can carry heavy loads with long-lasting endurance.

More noticeably is their wool, which they gather and import back to Equestria to aid in imported blankets and fabrics. Alpaca and Llamas have a great talent for weaving warm cozy blankets and stylish ponchos. ''

Like the camel they have gathered a name for themselves by commonly having the nasty habit of spitting. Alpacas are slightly shorter than Llamas, but both possess heavy coats that grow continuously and need proper maintenance to keep up.

The Llama and Alpaca of today's ancestors held a great knowledge. They are known for the Mareyan calander, and the old, beautiful architecture and ruins that can still be explored by many a pony.

Hybrids

Zebras, donkeys, and pony can all interbreed, creating a variety of possibilities. Unfortunately, many of these offspring are unable to bear children of their own.

Zebra + Pony = Zorse
Zebra + Donkey = Zonkey
Donkey + Pony = Mule
